  1. I'd say a Bronze compounder is fine. As for backstory, don't ask me what it is, tell me what it is.
  2. As expressed in the timeline link I posted above, Stormlight takes place slightly before Alloy of Law, and I wanted to set this slightly after The Way of Kings began. Probably around the time Kaladin first joins Bridge Four. So, yes.
  3. Thank you, and thanks for your support
  4. I'll start another thread in a bit, see if I get anyone else interested first.
  5. I'm not entirely sure how it would work, as I've never done this before, but making a character would be simple. 1) What world are they from/what abilities do they have. Make sure it is within reason, of course, overpowered characters are just not fun. 2) Formulate their name, personality, etc. around where they are from. For an example, a person from Scadrial would behave differently as a person from Nalthis. Since The Way of Kings/Words of Radiance takes place at the around the time as Alloy of Law/Shadows of Self/Bands of Mourning (http://coppermind.net/wiki/Chronology) plan accordingly. I already have a loose idea for a story, but again, I've never done this before, so I'm not sure.
  6. This is an idea I had, and was wondering if anyone was interested. The basic principal of this rp would be this: Members of the 17th Shard, from different planets and backgrounds, are tasked with finding the elusive Hoid. It would take place roughly at the same time as The Way of Kinds/Words of Radiance. The only problem is, I've never done an rp in this format and, quite honestly, have no idea what I'm doing. If you're interested, let me know
  7. I'm looking for some feedback for a Sandersonian-style fantasy epic. Here's the basics: 1) On several planets, giant pools of liquid and gas are being activated called Wells. These Wells start altering the chemical structure of the inhabitants of the planet, granting them magical powers. Each time a Well turns on, the same person is seen in the vicinity. He is referred to as The Wanderer. On some planets, people appear seeming to try and track him. 2) The Wells seem to be made by a single person 3) The story follows the people on the planet as they react to the sudden new powers. One planet has a form of magic already, but that is due to an already-active Well. I have three planets so far: One centered around a 1920's era mob war in a fractured country of city-states, one centered around a nigh-uninhabitable desert planet where strong are revered and the lowest class is the accountants, and one centered around a race war perpetuated by a race oppressing another with religion. When the religion is discredited, rebellion breaks out. This is the planet that already had magic. 4) There is a reason for the Wells and The Wanderer, as well as the fact humans are everywhere. Any feedback you have is appreciated.
  8. I really want someone to make a Where's Waldo-esque book where one attempts to find Hoid in various Cosmere settings. I'd do it myself, but my artistic skills resemble a five-year-old kid on crack. Is there anyone who is skilled enough to do this? Roshar would probably be the easiest, given the massive selection of characters and locations, but any Shardworld we're seen would do. Also, I would love to have a friend who is a Parshendi. They're just such great Listeners.
  9. Well, consider a few thing: Who can use it, How can they use it, When can they use it, and why can they use it. Next, you need to consider the nature of the conflict(No pun intended). Is nature magic and technology not? Or do nature and machine have their own forms of magic? What level of technology exists, and how doe sit effect magic? Is one replacing the other? These questions are just a few ideas to help guide your world-building experience.
  10. So, if one were to have an unkeyed Nicrosil metalmind and tap it, would they be able to use other user-specific abilities, like inhale Stormlight or write AonDor? It seems to alter one's Spiritweb, but to what extent? If there is no info, wild speculation is encouraged. I personally think it wouldn't grant Stormlight abilities, but maybe AonDor. For AonDor, however, you'd have to be on Sel or near a similar source of power as the Dor. Perhaps Stormlight could fuel it, as we know from Nightblood certain beings can feed on any Investiture. Also, here's a joke: Why did Elend cross the road? To Venture to the other side. I'll admit, I got that from the Mistborn Jokes thread. Check it out.

    Mistborn Jokes

What do you call a conspiracy of furniture and silverware? A dining Set. I've never seen a woman do He-malgury Staff being a Tineye? I did not see that coming. I'll go pretend I don't exist now.
  12. Okay, thanks for clearing that up. Ugh, and that idea actually made a lot of sense. If Odium wasn't involved in the Oathpact, then why is he so damnation involved in the Oathpact?
  13. Why don't we take the non-readers.... And push them all to Braize?
  14. Take anyone from Roshar to a streetlight and tell him the green light is an Emerald Broam. Watch as he tries to pry it loose.
  15. Let's not mince words. This is my idea of the Oathpact, but I have no idea if I'm right. So, I turn to you, my brethren, to correct me where I went wrong. A. Honor and Odium were at odds. Odium is clearly more powerful B. Honor realizes if he doesn't do something, Odium will murder everyone on Roshan C. Honor makes a deal with Odium (The Oathpact) saying Odium gets to kill Honor and torture his Heralds, and he still gets to try to end the world, but Odium will let the Heralds go early to warn/prepare humanity. The Heralds set up the Knights Radiant to keep humanity ready between Desolations and so they have less work to do when they come back. D. One Hundred Desolations, the Herald set fed up with all this torture. So the nine who survive abandon it, leaving Talenelat to suffer in Damnation, telling Humanity the Desolations have ended E. The Knights Radiant discover this and abandon their posts (As seen in Dalinar's vision) F. Odium decides this next Desolation will kill all of humanity. He still releases Talenelat early, but much too late for him to help. Talenelat's mind is fractured from sustaining the torture meant for ten all on his own. At some indeterminate time, Nan reclaimed his Honorblade. I understand some of this is speculation, but this is my idea on what likely happened.
  16. 65% Edgedancer 58% Stoneware I can dig it. I get to be pals with Lift, which totally awesome.
  17. Once, I said "Blood and Bloody ashes, you sparking cremling!" And someone behind me went "HELL YES!" But yeah, I use all Cosmere and WOT curses regularly. Especially WOT.
  18. We've seen the effects on the Shards on various planets, so when Andolasium was whole, were all magic systems in effect? I also have a theory that all types magic is universal across all planets, but only the planet housing the Shard generally has that Shard's Investure. I say this because Sanderson said anyone anywhere can use Hemalgury even though it is something of Ruin, and Nightblood can drain any type of Investure. Also, any person can gain Breaths (As implied by Hoid in WoR, as well as the implication he is an Allomancer) and all worlds of the Cosmere have a Cognitive Realm (As stated by Sanderson). That's all I got for now. I would feel unaccomplished in leaving without some form of a joke, so here it is: We should force Lightsong, Shallan, and Vin to stay in a tiny room together and see who can make the best insult after a few hours. It would be interesting.
  19. But...Would he? Lord Ruler would hardly fear Steelheart......Thank you everyone for the welcome.
  20. SPOILER ALRET. DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVEN'T FINISHED WORDS OF RADIANCE, FIREFIGHT, WARBREAKER, AND MISTBORN. MAYBE A FEW OTHERS. I MEAN, YOU COULD READ IT, BUT YOU WOULDN'T GET SOME OF MY JOKES..... I'm new, hooray for me, blah blah blah. You know the drill. If your reading this, then it means you probably have read a lot of these, so I won't bore you with what you've heard before. I love the Cosmere. Hoid is super cool. I am slowly building my friend up to reading The Way of Kings by making him read Steelheart and The Rithmatist and getting him hooked. I finished Words of Radiance yesterday. Well, now that that's out of the way........ Did anyone else notice that Nan (Darkness) was like an even more twisted version of Miles Hundredlives from Alloy of Law? God, Miles with a shardblade.....Now that is a terrifying thought. If the Children of the Light had lawyers, they would probably be Skybreakers, from what we've seen of Nan. Steelheart vs. Lord Ruler: Immortal King Deathmatch. Judged by Susebron. I want there to be a Nightblood fan club. Also.....Nightblood in Words of Radiance. I stopped reading and walked away for a few minutes after that. Do you think, instead of Breaths, he could take Stormlight when drawn? If we locked Siri, Marasi, and Shallan in a room, who'd have the funniest reactions to sexual innuendos? Do you think Allomancy affects Shardsblade/plate? Probably just plate, since the blade kinda isn't metal Currency is always a weapon. Mistborn/Stormlight Archive (And technically Steelheart, since dead Epic cells can be currency and power the motivator in a piece of Epic tech like the spyril......) We should awaken Wayne's hat and Command it to "Stay on Wayne's head". It might help him. A Klossos vs. A Parshendi Warform pair. (Stormform is downright unfair.) Who wins? Dumbest move in Cosmere history: Making a deal with Ruin. 2nd Dumbest Move: Breaking a deal with Ruin. We're not pointing any fingers. *Cough cough* LERAS! *Cough cough* I was wrong. The dumbest move in the history of the Cosmere was giving Hoid a position of power where his only job was to insult people. That's basically paying him to do nothing, with Hoid's personality. I want Adolin to get a Heron-marked Shardblade. That needs to be a thing. Also, The last book of the Stormlight Archive should be like the Avengers, except within the Cosmere. I want to see Vin and Kaladin flying together to save the world. Imagine Matrim Cauthon as a Surgebinder. I almost don't want to consider it. The Almighty is dead, expect when he isn't. Kelsier: Let's break in and take their atium! Vivenna: Let's break in and rescue my sister! David: Let's break in and shoot some Epics! Lift: Let's break in and EAT THEIR DINNER! Lightsong and Hoid (as Wit) need to get together and insult all the Returned. AAAANNNNDDDD.................... That's all I got for now. Bye. -Okdes
