  1. instinctive teleporting would be annoying though, especially with the two minute cooldown Oblit used to have. and we still don't know if the bomb idea would have worked, you might be killable that way.
  2. on its own I agree, since having just steelhearts invulnerability would leave you vulnerable to permanent imprisonment or drowning I'd think. But I think invulnerability coupled with flying and superstrength at least would be better.
  3. oh of course, just a temporary alliance to do some damage, then Hellfire will leave. If he doesn't die, of course.
  4. FYI, for my character, Hellfire is white, middle-aged, thin, with light brown hair. Dint get a wrong mental image now haha thanks, glad you caught the reference
  5. Consider it like this: two means, from two identical worlds. The two worlds are 100% identical, until an event happens- Megan gets shot in one world, but the bullet misses her in the other. Her powers make a copy of the alive Megan the next day to pull into dead Megan's world, and she is reincarnated. It isn't a random Megan, its a Megan from an identical world where she didn't die.
  6. I don't know, its just odd. Most epics seem to have figured out their weaknesses, and presumably already made the connection to their fears/nightmares. theoretically, David's explanation should only be a surprise to an epic who doesn't know their weakness. It seems odd that Obbie didn't. and then, why immediately want to face it? It is his greatest fear, why would he rush to it just because he knows now it is his weakness? I just have no clue.
  7. I feel like there simply wasn't enough drama for Obliteration to have turned good, at least not completely. He didn't seem to freak out at all, or react much at all. David tells him about epic nightmares, he whispers the bible quote, thanks him then leaves. A realization that he had killed millions in vain would have hit him harder. Maybe he just knows his weakness now, and is off to either face it or destroy it if he can. People just seem to be making so much of it, and I'm just confused because I didn't get anything so grandiose when reading the scene.
  8. Clearly there is some connection. I was considering maybe Calamity was an astronaut, caught in a solar storm like Fantastic Four. But that wouldn't explain Dawnslight.
  9. Hmmm don't have it on hand sorry. Midway, I think.
  10. I too have weird pictures of characters, that I form with no backing whatsoever IIRC the lord ruler was super white. And if no-one could guess he was a Terrisman, they mustn't be very visually distinct, minus the eunuch thing. Also, everyone cool with me bringing Hellfire in soon? I was thinking he could pop in and join with the Destructors.
  11. Hellfire stood over the cowering Epic, his body armoured in hardened flames. The Epic threw out his hand, and a disk of blue energy flew at Hellfire, only to be swatted out of the way by a club of flames. "You dare..." The Lord of Hell's Rock hissed, his anger a frozen cap on a volcano of rage, "Come HERE???" The Epic whimpered, gibbering in fear. "W-w-we didn't mean any offence! W-we were just sight-seeing! Always wanted to see Ayers Rock, you know? hehe..." Hellfire looked around the arid top of Uluru, at the scorch-marks splashed like graffiti across the roof of his fortress-city. At the broken and charred bodies of the other three Epics who had attacked along with the one at his feet. At his Earth Epic ally, Banarang-Bamal, and several minor Epics and dozens of his citizens who were just now emerging from their hiding places, to observe the aftermath of the attack. And he was not pleased, nor amused. "Sight-seeing? So you are... tourists?" The Epic nodded furiously, clasping his hands together as if to beg for mercy. Hellfire's eyes blazed with flame and fire shot out of his mouth as he roared, "I HATE TOURISTS!" eliciting a squeek of terror from the minor Epic. Reaching down with tendrils of solid flame, cooled to mere warmth, Hellfire lifted the Epic into the air, and brought him close. "Now...." He sneered, "you said your name was... Discworld?" The Epic nodded slowly, shivering with fear. "I am going to ask you this one question, and you will answer or you will burn." Discworld gulped. Hellfire continued, "Who sent you?" Discworld was confused. No-one had sent him. Why would Hellfire assume otherwise? "Umm..." he stammered, searching for an answer that would please the enraged Fire Epic. "N-no-one sent us.... we-" "DO NOT LIE TO ME!" Hellfire turned up the temperature of his tentacles, until they seared Discworld's flesh for a second before cooling rapidly again. The minor Epic screamed in pain, struggling to free himself. When he eventually stopped struggling, Hellfire asked again, "Do not lie to me! NOW WHO SENT YOU? I know you American Epics have been planning on invading my territory, just like your sickening culture had been invading my country for decades before Calamity! You four must be the vanguard of the invasion.... and you will give me your leader so that I can stop you imperialistic swine from ever taking my city!" Discworld's eyes widened as the tirade continued- this man was delusional! Yes, him and his gang had tried to take over Hell's Rock, they had heard that this Australian Epic didn't have a Prime Invincibility and would be easy to defeat. How wrong they had been. But it wasn't some conspiracy, it was just a gang of Epics looking for territory away from the crowded Fractured States. Discworld didn't think that he could convince Hellfire of that though. "Ok! Ok!" Discworld acceded, desperately thinking of a name, any name, to give this lunatic and maybe save his life. "We.... we were sent by.... uh.... Lucentia! The Diamond Queen, in Astoria! She sent us! Now please, spare me, maybe we can work together?" "Lucentia", Hellfire thought to himself, "I have not heard that name before... I will need to investigate." Several seconds passed while Hellfire contemplated what he would do. He needed to teach this... Lucentia a lesson. He needed to stop her from launching any more invasions of his territory, but he didn't have enough Epics for an all-out war. No... a warning shot would have to do. Suddenly he remembered that he still held Discworld in his tendrils, who was looking expectantly and fearfully at him. "An alliance?" Hellfire scoffed. "No, you would serve better as a messenger. Tell your mistress that I said hello, and am coming for her." Discworld relaxed- a messenger? He needed to be alive for that!" Hellfire turned to one of his minor Epics, and said "Valve, I need you to open a portal to Astoria, have you heard of it?" Valve shook her head, and replied, " No my lord, but I will get your maps and find it." She turned and opened a portal, a vertical hole in the air, and jumped through it. Seconds later, she returned, carrying several maps. "In what state is Astoria?" She asked Discworld. "Um.... uh... Oregon" He hoped. Minutes passed as Valve poured over a map, until she finally yelled "Ah-ha!" and pointed at this tiny dot on Oregon's northern border. "Found it! Shall I open a portal, my lord?" Hellfire nodded, "Yes, directly beneath our friend here. Make sure he gets there in one piece." Discworld smiled. He would live! And of course, get out of Astoria as quickly as possible without delivering the message. Valve complied, and a hole opened beneath the minor Epic, who was still bound in flaming tentacles. "Enjoy your trip," Hellfire smirked, and suddenly turned the tentacles into a full-body cocoon of searing flame, charring every bit of Discworld bar his face down to the bone. He did not even get to scream. Hellfire laughed as he released the blackened skeleton to fall through the portal, and land somewhere in the middle of Astoria. Turning to Valve, Hellfire said, "Close it. Study the map more closely and find a suitable place for me to travel to, on the outskirts of the city, ideally. I will go myself, and deal with this matter as I see fit. Have someone keeping an eye out for me at all times, but I should only be a few days." Turning to the civilians gathered on the mountain-top, Hellfire projected his voice and said, "People of Hell's Rock! My loyal and beloved subjects. I will soon take my leave of you, for only a few days. My trusted lieutenant, Banarang-Bamal, will act in my place until I return. May you always burn bright, my subjects." His subjects mumbled the customary reply, "And you always provide the light, my master." He loved it.
  12. I don't think he would have a chance either. Prof is a rare case- he realised the corrupting nature of the powers and was able to stave it off with gifting and tremendous willpower. Conflux is also a rare case- he is a combination of a gifter with an incredibly desired power, but no defensive or offensive abilities. Therefore, he was captured, imprisoned and used by more powerful epics. Most other gifters either have no intention of giving away their powers if they are strong, or are killed if they are weak. If you think about it, most Epics wouldn't realise that their powers corrupt them. They just suddenly feel free to do what they like, and they realsie that they suddenly don't care about other people, but they also don't care that they don't care. Or they might not have the willpower or desire to stop using their powers long enough to stop the corruption.
  13. that's a really good question. If not, Epics are a threat with a timer, unless Calamity empowers a bunch more. How much slower than humans do epics age? David said slower, but not by how much. Like half as much? It would have to be noticeable.
  14. odder thsn everything else that goes on in this crazy place? Hahaha who could forget haha
  15. well the state of origin is irrelevant to Hellfire- he isn't very knowledgeable about American states, its all the same to him. Well lets say he was given the name- not vondra, since he seems a tad obscure- but Lucentia, lets say. Then, since he probably hasn't heard of her anyway, he orders some research done, spies dispatched, that sort of thing (he has a teleport epic to help). Note he isn't very smart- the illogic of a random attack from an epic empress half a world away does not register. He has always hated Americanism, and American culture. The idea of American epics even coming to his territory enrages him, and he won't stop until he feels the threat to his land has been eliminated. I'm making an Aussie epic mainly because i am Australian myself haha
  16. ah, but that's the beauty of it- the Epic who told him that say... Lucetia or Vondra or Frequency sent him was lying through his teeth. Hellfire was paranoid about American Epics invading Australia, and expected an organised attempt to "colonise" it. So when this gang shows up, and they are all relatively weak, he assumed they have a powerful leader, and wont take no for an answer.
  17. I think you are stretching with some of those, although some certainly seem to work. You stretched I feel with Steelheart, Conflux and Firefight, but the others seemed like they fit well. But then consider Fortuity- what is the connection between being publicly humiliated by a pretty woman and the ability to sense incoming danger? Yeah, you could say "to sense the incoming situation/danger" but that applies to any weakness he could have. Or Sourcefield- there is literally no connection whatsoever between Kool-Aid and electricity. I just think that while sometimes Calamity picks powers that seem to complement the weakness (Nightwielder being the best example) this is not often the case.
  18. maybe he could get plants into the operating room (depends where it took place) but he can't into his own room, which is obviously where regalia was at all times.
  19. Yeah, people didn't know Prof was an epic. they filmed the whole thing and claimed that it was Reckoner technology. Remember the prologue where Abraham's jacket protects himself and other soldiers from Sourcefield's blast- the Reckoners at this stage are open about their "technology" and its uses.
  20. I feel like Iconoclast and Obliteration would have words for each other haha Although Obliteration would just flat out melt old conni
  21. Someone call steelheart to save Reader! Lol nah
  22. Seems to me it would make his pants incredibly slippery, so there is no grip between them. if his belt is tight enough, it won't matter, since the belt wont expand to fall around his waist. If its loose enough they should slip off.
  23. Ooh can I suggest random cannon fodder Epics too? Skyscraper: Can fly with perfect control at whatever speed his body can handle, and however high he can go without suffocating. Foliage: Can create and control plants to a limited degree, causing them to grow at very fast speeds. Discworld: Can create discs of energy and fling them around with his power. The disks can either be sharp, very dense and heavy. explosive, or glow brightly. Cacodaemon: Can shoot powerful lasers out of his eyes.
