  1. I always was under the impression that Shards can read minds of mare mortals, so using an unknown language would be useless as they can read your thoughts that are not in any language I think.
  2. I think it's simply that metal is generally very useful for many things. People in Cosmere don't have access to plastic yet, so metal is the material to go if you want to make something durable.
  3. Before you invest a lot of time into such an endeavor, why not take a look at what has already been done by other fans? Here's a list of all the Radiant orders for example: Knights Radiant Generally, there is a lot of knowledge already cataloged in the Coppermind Wiki, so you don't really have to make such lists. And most certainly there is a lot to learn there
  4. Incredibly long you say? So here's something you might missed:
  5. I have a similar story! Back in November 2014, me and my GF took in 5 starved cats, that were mistreated and very ill. The cat, that was in the worst condition, we called him Germ, looked like this: He weighed only a bit over 1 kilogram, only skin and bones. For many days he didn't move much, only to eat a bit, drink some water, and than slumbered back to being a little ball of misery However, we didn't let him give up! We gave him antibiotics, vitamins, special food and after couple of weeks, progress could be seen Germ was moving around, his fur got darker and he gained weight Here, a comparison: Now, after over 6 months, healthy diet and our care he looks like this (don't mind the comic text) And we're looking for a new home for him I hope, we'll find a loving family that will take good care of him for many years to come
  6. Congratulations! I've played only the first gen and don't know what those IV's are, but still, glad you achieved what you wanted
  7. Yeah, they do indeed rhyme, but it's just a coincidence Origins of those words are different. The word "kupa" can also mean "a pile" or generally large amounts of something, like "kupa śmiechu" means "a lot of laugh". EDIT: And when you look for me in Google Images, you'll find some old pictures I published on the internet many years ago when I was having fun with photography
  8. I'm not sure if the can just "stuff stormlight into someone". As far as I know, Stormlight, though similar to Breath from Nathis, cannot be passed to someone without giving it some kind of intent (like stick Lopen to the wall).
  9. Oh right, got that mixed up... Sorry, my mistake, in my head this was a bit different. So new theory: She did remember what she did all the time, she just couldn't face it. She repressed it from her mind, doing whatever she could not to think about her past. Similar thing happened in WoK with the death of her father. She knew he was dead, she just avoid the thought that she was the one that killed him. So in the same way, she might remember that she has the Shardblade, but push the thoughts about previously using it out of her mind. I think, that with Shallan it was never about her memory and remembering (she always remembered), just about facing those memories and admitting to herself what she had done. For years she made herself live a lie, she convinced herself to this lie so much, that although she remembered the truth, the other version was true to her too and would probably pass the lie detector.
  10. I believe, she remembered that she has the blade just after she killed her father, or possibly even during the act. I think that she remembered how she defended herself against her mother after she killed her father. Before that, she believed, that her father protected her.
  11. I live in Poland, that's in Europe, so generally, I'm very out of sync with other sharders. Most of the time I browse 17th Shard from work, that is from 10 to 18 CET. That translates to 4 AM to 12 AM New York time and even further into the night for the western states. Being active during the "forum night" I frequently encounter spambots frolicking freely on our boards. I've read some topics and I know that there is not much that can be done by Admins to prevent those bots from posting and we're doomed to just react when they appear. Unfortunately, as far as I know, most of the forum staff (if not all) lives in North America. No one can expect you guys to be vigilant 24h every day, you all need to sleep, thus leaving the forum "unguarded" from the spambots. At least, I don't see any moderators or administrators on the active users list until it's 1 PM in Poland. So here is my humble request: Please, find some trustworthy sharders from Europe/Asia/Africa and give them Moderator privileges. That way, they would be able to stand on watch of the forum, when the American team has good dreams, abut world without Baba Ji
  12. Is the 17th Shard page on facebook associated with this forum https://www.facebook.com/17thShard ?
  13. Hey, I'm wondering, why is there no support for HTTPS connections made to 17th Shard? Sure, we don't have any credit card numbers here or sensitive information BUT! no HTTPS means, that it's easy to eavesdrop email/password information when someone is logging in, especially if someone is logging in on an open WiFi network. And let's be honest, many people use the same password on different sites, so leaking password to 17th Shard account can have severe consequences. Is there any chance to add HTTPS support to the forum?
  14. As far as I remember, her mother (and her mothers friend) tried to kill her and she defended herself with the shardblade. That was when it got locked away and she rejected Pattern.
  15. I don't think you should keep your thought to yourself. You should just organize them better. Look at you first, welcoming post: Way of the Kings is everything that I wanted It is easy to read, easy to understand. Everybody knows what you want to say in it and you use proper grammar. Another nice example of a topic you made: What Brandon Sanderson has taught us. Another topic, when we know what you wanted to say. A place where we can share what we have learned from Brandon's books. That's good. Now, let's see what this community didn't take too well. In particular those 3 topics: Metalurgist?Worldhopper?Lightweaver? Shardbearer? Surgebinder? Soul-caster? Which r you? Worldsinger?Feruchemist?Shardholder? These are the topics that made many people wonder "What does this guy has in mind?". You mix types of metallic arts users, Surgebinders are mentioned in one thread, then you write something about Lightweavers, that are actually a type of Surgebinders and then throw in some other names. Generally, those post were very chaotic. First, we don't know what you wanted to say in them. Secondly, your use of grammar got worse, you used "r" instead of "are", etc. Thirdly, why post 3 topics that are so much similar and not one? See, when you made topics that were clear and well phrased, you received some up votes and people were nice. When you posted something chaotic, that hardly anybody understood, the atmosphere got bad. Maybe just try to focus more on quality of what you write and contribute to this site, so we can actually appreciate your ideas, thanks to understanding them? I'm sure, judging by your first topic, where you introduced yourself, that you can write like everybody else.
  16. I'd like to point out something regarding the AonDor and Allomancy similarity. AonDor: You have one drawing, it does one thing and vanishes or stays (if craved on something) and does it all the time. Allomancy: You have some metal, the longer you use it, the less you have. It's like you have quadrillions (or more, I don't really know how many molecules fit in a single vial of metal they use, but A LOT) of those molecules that give you access to power, and you burn them by thousands per second. So, if an allomancer was to draw a molecule shape on a piece of paper and try to use it, it might work, sure... but I guess, the effect would be so weak, that it wouldn't be possible to notice.
  17. Uh, I had strange feelings reading this... "Kupo" is an inflect of "kupa" in Polish, which can be translated to "poop". So to me, it sounds as if you call Kobold poop
  18. Yeah, I know you are not a "grown man", but still, be brave!
  19. My idea on 17th Shard: Hoid was present during the Shattering. Let's say it happened in a cave or somewhere else. With him, there were 16 others, that became Shardholders. So, in total there were 17 "people", 16 of them became Shards. When everything was done, maybe they all came out of the cave to have a drink or something and were all seen hanging out. Then, the Shards went their separate ways leaving Hoid where he was. When questioned about what happened during the Shattering, he told about the 16 shards, but those who questioned him didn't believe him. They thought that Hoid is the 17th Shard. Conclusion: The 17th Shard is an organization that believes that Hoid is the 17th Shard, although he isn't, and they try to get to him for some reason.
  20. Oh, sorry. I don't know why I was thinking this was an information from some in book character.
  21. And who measured this temperature during the killing?
  22. The problem with torrents is back :/ I'm getting a new WiFi USB adapter as soon as I can :/
  23. They just need a way to take money from you even when you don't have any if it was illegal, banks would simply tell you some other way how much you owe them and nothing would change after all.
  24. I may be in minority, but I find Alcatraz series to be truly unique, even more than Stormlight or Mistborn I don't know which Brandons book is the best, but Alcatraz deserves to be recognized!
  25. She carries a huge badchull sword?
