As many people before me wrote, I too think that reintroducing Badges or Awards or whatever you call them would be a great way to: 1. Help everyone identify the type and quality of content a user usually generates. 2. Give everyone something to aspire to, reducing the amount of attention given to the rep points. 3. Make the 17S an even more amazing place 4. Help with creating content for Coppermind Might I only ask how the awarding process worked? Was there an algorithm that detected if a user is eligible for an award or was it 100% manual thing run by admins? Some people have wondered if removing the overall sum of rep points (but leaving the silly title) from under the profile pictures would help. I think that may help our current problem, but it might generate new ones. Leaving the rep count for singles posts is very important IMO, as it simply makes people appreciated and that is not a bad thing. Here is an upgrade I'd like to suggest for the single post rep display. Currently, if the post has rep > 0 it is marked with green, zero is grey and < 0 is red. Why not introduce a scale that would be specific for every forum? Let's say that in General Discussion, an average rep count for a post is X. Now, the closer the reputation of a post is to this average X, the greener the rep counter becomes. When the rep count reaches 2*X, the color changes to blue or something like that, to emphasize the fact, that this single post is above average for this board. So, in result, instead of having a general counter of reputation for user, we would be able to judge the popularity of this single post in comparison the other posts on that board. In General Discussion that would mean that this post was very funny, made a lot of people laugh, received a lot of sympathy or whatever, depends on the context. In the theory forums, a post with above than average reputation would still stand out, even if this reputation is 1/10 of what would be required for a post to reach "blue status" on GD. If we leave the rep system as it is now, I think the disproportion between the social users and theory users rep will still be there. Socialists ( ) post generally more and the things they write are I think read more frequently, so obviously they have more potential for upvotes, no matter the quota. I personally joined the Shard to have a place to write about the books, but honestly stayed here for longer because of the social side of this site. The positive atmosphere of the Community subsection is just great and I honestly think, that upvotes are a part of this. Will this place still be that good with less upvotes? Yes it will, but the 10 upvotes limit is too low and I'm very happy that it will be risen. Replacing ranks based of reputation with ranks based of post count is counterproductive in my opinion. This system would be abused even more by topics like "Random Stuff" or "How unoriginal...". So I say no to that. Could you please elaborate on that? I was honestly surprised that there are even may be problems rising from reputation system that require admins attention I think that it would help us all reach some kind of agreement or at least it would help the change-opposing fraction (myself included) to understand what kinds of problems you are facing every week...

Reducing the upvote quota also means that Honor Spren is in grave danger of getting hit to death by the quota -
If you remove the reputation system, can I have the SQL tables holding the points (with user ids paired with their nicks) so I can make some statistics?
Like, who gave the most upvotes to others etc. -

Checking my smartphone alone, it's data counter for WiFi shows over 19Gb since 10.12.2015, so I think if I combine that with my PC I can easily go up to 50Gb a month (watching 1080p streaming content takes it's toll on the connection) and I'm not living alone, my girlfriend is a heavy internet user too. Luckily, in Poland ISPs don't put any limits on the amount of data we use Anyway, I have to agree, that most people will hardly ever exceed 10Gb. -

Your monthly allowance? o.O Is it WiFi connected to internet by mobile data plan or something? Or is it just american thing to limit your internet traffic for no reason at all to make you pay more? What kind of encryption (if any) have you set on your access point? If it's not WPA2 than than you should change it to WPA2 (with AES). Other encryptions like WEP and WPA are currently not considered secured and there are tools for chacking them. -

So, here in Poland we have this great charity organization called The Grand Orchestra of Christmas Charity. For one day in January Polish cities, villages, the whole county is flooded with volunteers gathering money that is later used to buy medical equipment for our hospitals. For every donation (even the smallest one) you receive a sticker (see spoiler below). In this one day, this organization gathers millions of złoty (how much they raise: wiki page) and almost everyone you meet on the streets has this heart sticker on them. So, why am I writing about this? In November last year we had elections in Poland, and a certain party won. Now, the government officially condemns this organization, calling it a farce :/ What's worse, the Church has always been against it for some reason... Just like if they were envious because someone else is doing a lot to help those in need... It really ruins my mood to think that there are some people that would criticize Jerzy Owsiak (the director of the Orchestra) for doing so much good In response to this negative signals from the government concerning the Orchestra many Poles are going to give them even more money... I hope that this year they'll gather more than ever! -

I don't care about WoW any more, it was too long after the previous book and that previous book wasn't that interesting either. I didn't read any Kingkiller books. So it would be easy to choose for me -

I've noticed that rhythm too. It strongly reminds me of the well of ascension beating rhythm... no idea why would Wayne hear that though

As Saitama from One Punch Man said "I'll leave tomorrow's problems to tomorrow me.", you should do the same. Deal with every situation one by one and you'll be fine -

Me: Hey body, wake up, we're going to work. Body: Nope, we're still sleeping. Me: Come on body, we're driving a car, be serious! Body: lol, nope, sweet dreams! * suddenly breaking, avoiding the car in front of me by centimeters * Body: That was fun, I like this adrenaline stuff, let's do that again! I hate mornings, when I have to go to work by car >.< I'm not suited for driving in the mornings! -

An atomic bomb literally evaporates everything near it, so I guess it would destroy a horecrux. I don't know about dynamite or other weaker explosives...I wonder how termite would work on a horecrux... -

I don't know maybe that's some consolation prize for having to wait for the translation? And I'm holding my fingers crossed that the publisher re-releases Stormlight Archive when the Oathbringer comes out, this time with hardcovers... My copy of WoK is pretty used up already after being read only 4 times :/ -

A publisher here in Poland is heavily investing in Sanderson book right now, and is going to release one Sanderson book every two months for some time They are currently releasing Alloy of Law and the Shadows of Self might come out in two months. I didn't feel like starting a whole new topic, but I wonder what you all think about those covers? Alloy of Law Shadows of Self They are very well composed with the covers chosen for the first era books, that were released in the past few months: I can't wait to see what covers they'll choose for Elantris anniversary edition and Warbreaker... I wonder if they consider Alcatraz... -
