The orange and black thing that Winter saw? No idea.
-
I suppose I will. I'll be switching between this and homework, but I think that will be fine. Brightness Random woke slowly to sunlight peeking in through the window. What...? she wondered, time to be awake already? Oh, storms- she lept out of bed. "I'm going to be late to my lesson again!" she complained to no one in particular. "Mistress will not be pleased with me." "...And I apparently slept in my clothes," she noted, grabbing a hairbrush from the room's dresser. With a sigh, she began brushing out the knots in her golden brown hair. "Well, all the better, I suppose. Less time to waste getting dressed!" Within a few minutes, she was ready to leave. Halfway out the door, she suddenly retreated back into her room, shutting the door behind her. "Glove! Ah, how could I forget my glove?!" she exclaimed. The Vorrin custom still seemed strange to her even after all these months, but the asymmetric style of the blouses here did appeal to her. "Glove, glove... now where did I put that?" Pulling open dresser drawers, she quickly located a supply of gloves. This time as she barreled out the door, she didn't turn around. Though she did attempt to tug on her glove while rushing down the hall. Rushing down the corridor at a rather un-ladylike speed, she frantically tried to remember the layout of the building. She had never been good with navigation, but all the traveling she had been doing lately had thrown her off more than usual. No time to get to know places, as she was in one door and out the other. Finally, she reached a tall pair of doors. Not a moment to soon! she thought, throwing them open. "Mistress," she called, dashing in, "I'm sorry I'm so late, but I-" She froze. This wasn't the library, but a grandly decorated ballroom. What? she wondered. Poor, poor Brightness Random. It seems she's forgotten that she's in Newcago, not studying in Alethkar.

Ha! Sorry for misleading you guys, but that comment about caligraphy was a lie built of truths. Brightness Random, as a proper Vorrin woman, would definitley have a caligraphy class. I've only ever done caligraphy for my art class. However, I did have an AP biology assignment due this morning that I had to get up extra early to finish. So what she said was kind of true, but the statment was more to imply that Brightness Random had forgotten she was in Newcago instead of Roshar. She assumed the copy of Way of Kings was a textbook of some sort because that was what she was used to. Sorry again for any confusion! (I think I'm getting a little too into role playing here )

I LOVE these sorts of parodies! Thank you, Kobold King.

If Only There Were Two Brandons...
Brightness Random replied to Natone423's topic in Introduce Yourself!
Welcome to the 17th Shard, Natone423! Having two Brandons certainly seems like a good idea, I think. Which of Brandons books have you read? Which is your favorite? -
Brightness Random blinked her eyes open in the darkness. Where on Roshar was she this time? She found herself in a bed in a dark room. Wonderful, that told her nothing. Waking up in unfamiliar rooms was something she was had grown accustomed to, so she wasn't feeling particularly alarmed, but she couldn't remember which city she was in today. Glancing out the window, she realized it was still night out. Her eyes felt heavy. I'll figure all this out in the morning, she decided with a yawn. As she lay back down, something on the table beside her bed caught her attention. A huge book. That was odd. She shut her eyes in exhaustion. Is calligraphy tomorrow? she wondered, I could've sworn I just got that assignment yesterday... I should probably get up early to get it all written out, just to be sure... Rolling over, she went back to sleep.

(I'm going to be in the car for a few hours, so I guess I'll be out for a while. )
-
I'm... not quite sure what's going on. I'll continue sleeping a little longer, at least until things are sorted out, I think.
-
To help get things moving again... Brightness Random awoke in darkness. Her head hurt, and the floor was cold. Where... where was she? What had happened? She couldn't seem to remember. Then again, she was still mostly asleep. It was pitch black around her, and she was too tired to try getting up and feeling her way around. So she closed her eyes, despite the voices she heard approaching, and went back to sleep.

That answers my question, I think. I laugh at you.
-
You laugh at me, panda?
-
I make them up. Every once in a while, one turns out to be true.

Suuuuuuure, Snoopy. We believe you entirely. (About the size of cookies. We know you use pizza pans to "bake" each individual cookie.) Kobold, for your point about my point about your point about the DA's points, have a rep point.
-
Thank you, Kobold, for that wonderful illustration of my point.

One does if they want their spiritweb intact! (Actually, they don't partake at all. Ever.) ...There, I've voted now. Queen Elsa for president, as she does a great job governing Newcago (plus I've sworn fealty so... yeah.), you get a vote for vice president for putting up with me, and Kobold King gets my vote for World Dictator, as he couldn't offend other nations if he ruled the whole world.

I actually just had one... The investiture free kind, I mean. It was delicious. I'm afraid I'm having far to much fun right now RP-ing as Brightness Random, the girl with no powers, to accept a cookie. Perhaps another time...?
-
"I agree with you." *Shakes head* "Never thought I'd say that to a DA member about hemalurgy, but there we go."
-
Here's a hint: I'm very rarely offended. I'm sitting here with a stupid grin on my face every time something ridiculous happens. Brightness Random, however, can get rather indignant at times. (Ah, role playing...)
-
Nope! I do enjoy banter... Doesn't it bother you at all the Hemalurgy is Ati's art? Not at all...?
-
I don't think the list would fit, Snoopy, which I find ridiculous, considering that I've only been a member for about a week. Let us suffice to say that your first crime was trying to spike me, an innocent young girl who had only just joined the 17th Shard. (And all others who join...) I do suppose, though, that you let me join the Root Beer Bar, which is a point in your favor. (But Cookie Monster?! Really? I was thinking that Odium had come to shatter a Shard, which was why all the magic was going bonkers...)
-
Offending duchess at the court, perhaps?
-
Perhaps it's time for a new rule: Anyone but Snoopy, or other members of the Dark Alley, can decide what happened. I'm not sure I'd trust them to decide my fate...
-
Snoopy, I have a few ideas in mind, but it was intentional vagueness intended to allow maximum creativity from others.... I'll react along with whatever we agree happened, but right now I'm unconscious, so... Post away!
-
No, I know what it means, just... "Not applicable"? Do your own "foibles and idiosyncrasies" not qualify as con's...? I mean, all immigrants would be offered root beer and cookies, right? That seems like it should go on the list... somewhere...

After making her way back into the palace in total darkness, Brightness Random had been happily surprised to find a touch that had been left burning. What? she had wondered, I thought they would have put out all the lights - especially if they were fires. But it seemed everyone had forgotten this place. Drawing closer to the torch she could see it was lighting a shrine of some sort. That's... Disconcerting... As she went grab the torch from beside the shrine's alter, she could see a statue carved from the stone. Was that-? Was that Voidus? Yes, the statue was of Voidus, holding a tray of cookies. Beside was the inscription: Little did they know that they actually knew what they didn't know that they knew. Shaking her head to herself, Brightness Random tried to lift the torch from it's bracket, but her fingers slipped off. What? She tried again with the same result. A moment later, she slipped, falling to her knees. First gravitation, now abrasion? she wondered, are all the surges going crazy? Hmm... With something like progression the results wouldn't be too bad, but division? Transformation? It could be disastrous! After a minute or two, the friction seemed to be back to normal, and she shakily made her way to her feet. Carefully this time, she lifted the torch and began climbing the staircase back to the ballroom. The stairs were wet. Almost there... she thought. There was a noise behind her, and Brightness Random turned, eyes widening as she saw what was behind her, and screamed loudly. That was the last thing she remembered before blacking out.
