  1. I have been searching for apple milk for years! They said I was mad for wanting it, well who's crazy now?! Hee hee, ha ha ha! I was wondering about your position, since the original post did not quite establish it. Also, if you provide a service, I think it's ethical to charge for it. Whether it be monetary or in fresh baked goods is your choice
  2. It honestly sounds like a generic campfire story. Foggy night, a tragic death, "and some say that if you look carefully on foggy nights, you can still see..." With such a story incepted into one's mind, the swift movement of a deer (on a foggy night, when you can not visually tell what the movement is) the brain can ask, "I wonder if that was the guy killed by a car in the 1920s?"
  3. http://vacreeper.com/2014/08/fact-vs-folklore-rotherwood-mansion/ "There comes a point where tall tales aren’t just entertainment any longer. They’re accepted as fact." I haven't read the series of articles, but you might find them helpful. Lots of people seem to prefer the "thrill" of falsehoods to actual demonstrative reality... often following "it feels true" tactics that characterize harmful movements such as the Trump campaign.
  4. If this is a poll, I do not.
  5. It really is a problem of classification. Over classification, I would say. Risking getting to the point where there is a term for a male that considers himself male in everyway except he likes to eat pink ice cream.
  6. The key is to do it for you. If it's the best plan for you and your well being, great! If, however, it's for their peace of mind, f that noise! You are formulating a new, more confident Twi. In many ways, the Twi your family interacted with is no more. In a certain metaphysical sense, you've died and been reborn into a more perfect Twi. Being a new Twi, your family will have to justify their place in your life, whether it be the same place they inhabited before or a lower rung of relationship...but most importantly, it should be on terms you find agreeable! Essentially, if you end up going, it should be because to deigned to illuminate the dull, tedious filth your parents call life with your glorious presence, not because those gnats hold sway over you.
  7. I did. I specifically had no contact with my parents for a few years. They got the message eventually and I now have a relationship with them on my terms.
  8. All that help? It's back payment for all the times they were chullish human beings and for actively impeding your growth. You don't owe them anything. If they want you in their lives, they actually owe you. You get to set the terms! Basic economics of supply and demand
  9. Seize your destiny. What are they going to do? Demand to talk to you? Demand you come anyway? You are trying to stabilize a new life, that should be enough. If they get pushy, you are far enough outside their zone of influence to ignore them. Seriously, just do what you think is best for you, not just merely what you think will avoid the most confrontation.
  10. I haven't seen you post "FATHER, NO!" in a Cosmere while. Kudos
  11. Yeah, some people like to focus on controlling stuff that really doesn't matter. Sometimes for no reason! I remember commenting to a church member about how I was impressed by the literary references in a lot of metal songs I was listening to. His response? "That does not make it right." It's musical escapism, loser, not some moral quandary!
  12. Ah, but there is no Lovecraft without Derelith! Not only did he aggressively preserve the writings of Lovecraft, he acted as an agent, editor and encouraged Lovecraft to publish a lot of his writing to begin with! I dare say, he probably was instrumental in mainstreaming weird fiction! Of course Derelith counts!
  13. Further nitpick: Not necessarily. According to August Derelith's system, he would line up with elemental water, opposed to elemental air in the form of Hastur.
  14. Let's see... I got Grimscribe and Noctuary.
  15. An apt description. For any genre to progress, they have to move beyond their predecessors. I got a couple Ligotti books, have not read them yet.
  16. What?! No At the Mountains of Madness? The Case of Charles Dexter Ward? Sometimes I think the obsession with Lovecraft sets cosmic horror back... but it's also the most "accessible" form of it...sigh...
  17. Cheaper than Walmart? Now I am concerned! There is not a Trader Joes close enough to me to justify shopping there, and Whole Foods is what I consider a scam. Luckily, Krogers and Meijers tend to have good selections.
  18. Lovecraft is one of those authors whose ideas are better improved upon. He writes in aa flamboyant style which leaves itself open to effortless parody. And if you don't like Rowling's casual racism...oooh, boy, are you in for a ride!
  19. It's a market that sells the illusion that you are buying high quality, healthy food
  20. Americans like to grouse...A lot. Each election is always "erhmehgawd, the candidates are awful! This is the worst election ever! Sick of voting for the lesser of two evils, etc." Mainly because a candidate that does not line up 100% with one's belief must be dishonest or corrupt or evil
  21. All kittens suck blood
  22. Nothing says sorry like a strawberry shortcake!
  23. Common things can be found to talk about...movies, sports, weather, means to communicate with the Deep Ones. Don't worry about that. Try to relax as much as you can (You will probably still be a little nervous, and that is fine!) And in conversation, if she is talkative, engage her by asking questions about what she is talking about. And remember: relationships just happen. Don't stress, dawg! If there is something to click it will click.
  24. I have a tradition regarding Presidential Debates: I watch Blazing Saddles instead. I have never regretted it
  25. I, too, got into an accident in a parking lot in the past... Twice! It's frustrating, but more common then you may think! Just learn from the experience, and always watch out for people and you'll be fine!
