Some are apparently terrible at vanishing, some terrible at becoming visible, I think. With middle ground I suppose. Rock can just see them regardless though. He apologizes to the bindspren after realizing that they probably did not wish to be seen when they proved only visible to him and Kaladin.

What about the Voidspren and Renarin

Letting your enemies fight themselves into a corner is always an effective strategy if executed well. And always hilarious to watch.- 68 replies

It's not as if it's ever said the modifiers are even shaped like Arelon themselves. Even some standard aons just have the base Aon Aon pattern with added dots and such marking relevant landmarks and nothing else. Only the very base seems to be geographically significant.

Weird ways you voice characters in your head when reading?
natc replied to kroen's topic in General Brandon Discussion
When I consciously voice people Rock somehow ends up as a slightly less rough-sounding version of Heavy Weapons Guy . . . -
I'm rather sure not double posting is general etiquette for every forum on the internet with an Edit button, really . . . I demand equal rights for chasmfiends!

And I think SH has some of the bigger bits regarding the Cognitive Realm and Shards we've seen, all things considered.

*Shadows of Self Spoilers* Anyone Else Think Harmony is Messed up?
natc replied to mattig89ch's topic in Mistborn
There's still the option of dumb luck . . . boring one, but still. I suspect Trell personally. To be honest, the fact that the feedback loop even occurs suggests to me that atium and electrum allomancers actually can still interpret individual shadows in the cloud to some very minimal extent. After all, it's them having knowledge of each shadow's future that changes the future possibilities and creates a new shadow. They'll just probably almost all be wrong. But in a simple situation like staring down a gun, there's probably going to be several that say "Tan's head got shot" spread over a general area of space. Wax is a pretty good shot, it won't go too wild. -
What non-compounded gold can do . . . no real example necessary, since every part of the process tells you that the ability is normal feruchemical gold. That's what's healing Miles constantly. Any gold ferring with enough health can do the same. The difference is that it's much easier for a gold compounder to do this by storing the health from their burned goldminds than it is for a ferring to store his own health. Bottom line being any ferring can heal as much as they want as fast as they want as long as their stores allow and that they aren't already dead. Not sure where the misconception of power levels comes from; lacking a true upper limit to the rate of power usage is one of the most widely acknowledged advantages feruchemy has over allomancy.

Well, statistically Yolen having the same evolutionary progression as Earth is just as unlikely as any other potential possibility. So it's not impossible, and thus it happened

Mistwraiths are a non-human species, and as such would probably never be natural metalborn. Therefore their only way to use metallic arts would be to be granted powers artificially. As they lacked knowledge of this medallion-tech, their only option was Blessings with allomantic or feruchemical powers instead of potency, stability, etc. And nobody we know of other than Paalm knows how such a spike can be constructed for a kandra. But obviously it could be done, it's simply beyond their understanding of hemalurgy. Nicrosilminds and their interactions with Identity and Investiture are another field of the metallic arts that can potentially grant them power, and as seen with MeLaan can work, but they lack technical knowledge there as well. Of course, possession of the Bands of Mourning has the potential to change that . . .

Faster thinking can itself be included in how intelligence is defined to be honest. "Intelligence" is not a very well defined concept . . .

I say this a lot, but gold compounding is just burning goldmind to produce health at greater quantities in the form of allomancy (that is generally then stored to be tapped normally). Gold feruchemy in general is the better comparison since it does the same thing and can achieve identical results as compounding (with a obnoxiously impractical amount of stored health for a normal Bloodmaker to have, of course). Gold compounders are honestly harder to run dry of investiture than a surgebinder anyway. Though surgebinders heal way faster than normal Bloodmakers usually can (they still can, they just can't really afford to do so).

The heart isn't just one flexible bind point for stealing, if I recall correctly. Individual parts of the heart bind different things, all bunched up in a single conveniently-stabbable organ.
-
Well, it probably doesn't, but that didn't seem to stop every worldhopper we know of having a method for not aging. So I'd assume it probably comes with the territory of expertise.

It appears that ascending with a shard requires some degree of Connection to it, so perhaps his surprisingly compatible personality just landed him Odium. I don't recall anything about him specifically choosing Odium, just that he prefers being Odium over taking up another intent to boost his power. Hence splintering people instead of taking their shards and trying to do something with them.

Well it does for everyone else so far as we can tell. She even touched the jam. Some suspect Transportation was involved.

Well more like a 9/10. It's probably still disturbing, killing people, but on the other hand it makes perfect sense and not doing so would be a waste. Which makes it even more disturbing.
-
Don't ask me, I'm not the one saying it . . .
-
Well, it is still a problem. Just one relatively easy surmount. He still neglected to mention it though.

Obviously Roshar has developed some sort of one-handed flute.

I thought it was confirmed that the shard that wants to survive is explicitly not Survival?

We have symbols for every element on the periodic table in our world, and for mundane things like stars, hearts (<3), commonly used variables for physical forces like gravity and acceleration. Allomancy is an important aspect of their world, culture, even science. There would be symbols of those. There is even a steel alphabet symbol for Kredik Shaw. Glyphs for Orders would basically be logos more than anything else, and more mundane glyphs are for symbolic purposes from what I can tell. None of those actually seem to mean anything or do anything in particular. Aons, on the other hand, are not a language script first and foremost. Aons are symbols meant explicitly for access to and control of a magic system, that due to versatility was simply adopted as a writing system. Nothing suggests these for the others.

It doesn't matter if he ever held it or not, if shardic (term isn't quite accurate anymore is it) investiture in Yolen is what created life there, then his soul would be of Adonalsium as a Kelsier or Sazed's soul would be of Preservation and Ruin. Whether he was ever Adonalsium at any point has nothing to do with what I said.

There's not nearly enough salt about [Secret History Spoilers]

Kelsier's status as an Ascendant is indeed acknowledged in SoS by Marasi, as something written in the Words of Founding themselves. Wasn't part of the doctrine before but it sure would be now. He's now the Survivor of Death.
