  1. Alright, so I just finished reading Arcanum Unbound. If you haven't read it, this is me warning you now that this a theory that might have spoilers. Let's talk about the Rosharan system. There are ten gas giants, one for each essence. Khriss describes them as: This seems really weird to me. A persons cognitive representation is a manifestation of how an object is perceived in the mind. If this is the case, the planets should have huge cognitive identities- the heralds are essentially demigods. People use the names and personifications of the heralds all the time. Why do the planets that share their essences name and color, which should act as a focus point for their cognitive identity, not show on the cognitive plane? They are a huge part of peoples beliefs, whether or not you believe in the heralds- that planet in the sky are named after the ten essences, and this doesn't reflect in Shadesmar? It seems blatant to me that they are placed by Order- all uniform distance from each other, all the same size. I do not think they would be there for no reason. I propose this: Between Desolations, the heralds go to a place called damnation. The tranquiline halls have always been described as being above. From the description of torture we see before the breaking of the oathpact, is it possible that the searing is similar to what one might experience being on a gas giant? (assuming that either super healing keeps them alive, or that they're there only spiritually) Through some means, I believe that each herald is sent to their individual planets which are the damnation- which is a necessary component to keeping Odium bound within the Rosharan system (whether this is through some form of magic, or if the complex alignment of the planets keeps the asteroid field around the inner system to physically keep Odium trapped). When the oathpact was broken, this mechanism placed by Honor was also broken- which is why they lost their identity on the cognitive realm. I would go even further to say that these ten planets are the legendary Dawnshards. Scholars have found no records of the dawnshards because they are physically not on the planet. They were looking for swords when they should have been looking for the dawn in the sky. Without the Heralds supporting the Dawnshards in damnation, Honor feels Odium will break free because the cage is not being maintained. When used in the reference to the poem of Ista "Taking the Dawnshard, known to bind any creature voidish or mortal, he crawled up the steps crafted for Heralds, ten strides tall apiece, toward the grand temple above." The steps crafted by the Heralds are the ten planets, the "grand temple" is the tranquiline halls, the dawnshard is the piece of honor that manifests on the planets which has since passed out (like how shardblades died on the recreance) which is why Khriss doesn't see them in Shadesmar. Sorry if this writing is a little rushed, but I am curious to see if people have considered this as a possibility.
  2. the scene where Vin uses a Koloss sword to fight a whole bunch of koloss? :3 or Lift being awesome?
  3. I was under the impression this line was specifically referring to the Voidform v: "It has been promised" -> By Odium "do we understand the sum?" -> They lose their free will "if we dare to have them again." -> Parshendi broke away from the voidform As for "Our minds are too close to their realm", I believe this is connected to the parshendi drumming. (ie: how they can keep in time even when separated). The parallel between the Parshendi using drums to convey emotion and the spren being attracted to emotion is an interesting paralel- since (if I recall correctly), the drumming doesn't attract spren (correct me if I'm wrong). Perhaps the Parshendi share a similar sort of hive-mind to the Dysian Aimians by connecting through the cognitive plane.
  4. "I’d rather not kill Unodus because he’s an older player who hasn’t played in a while and I want to encourage him to keep playing and also encourage the atmosphere of RP." d'aww ^^ gg all. I'll try get involved with more games in the future. also, thanks Wyrm and Kas. Having 2 GM's made the game much more interesting. also, just clarify, not a kingsman
  5. I haven't read Edgedancer, but at a stretch I would assume they are about as rare as Kandra? Can we talk about the fact that Amians share similar shapeshifting and immortality traits similar to Kandra? What a coincidence In terms of the size of the continent, I think it's fair to say that Aimians are probably practically unseen in the east. (given how even Shinovan chickens are a rare spectacle)
  6. if that is the case, that allomancy is the meaning of life/some form of enlightenment, doesn't it seem a little depressing that only a portion of people are born with allomancy? As in, are you saying people born without allomancy (presumably Skaa) are somehow less alive and/or their lives have no meaning? and I don't see how allomancy differs greatly in this case from, say, feruchemy.
  7. this is copied and pasted off Wikipedia...? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meaning_of_life sure, allomancy represents power derived from a creator god (preservation)- but preservation & ruin didn't create life or humanity? that was, presumably, the work of Adonalsium If you were trying to make this case, wouldn't you want to consider investiture as a whole? (which includes breath, spren, etc)
  8. took the test, INFP *looks at all the other cool looking personality results*
  9. does the person who was protecting Wilson want to come forward? Because, yknow, I want to know what happened on that end. I thought she was protected?
  10. for anyone who is seriously out of the loop, Arinian is 100% evil. There is no doubt. Let's not make the same mistake as last cycle and let him get off with a vote manip- inactive people need to vote.
  11. have you read the Eragon series? You're going to have a sword that's going to freak out when around elderly and ill people n stuff :3
  12. For those who've read Arcanum Unbound, you will know that recently that illustrations of constellations and solar systems of the cosmere have been released- and Mistborn fans might be aware of a foreshadowed space-age of Mistborn. I figure this is a good opportunity to use these two aspects for a game set after the events of Sixth of the Dusk, a cosmere space game. This is a small scifi cosmere game about scheming officers. Players start the game as junior officers with a credit total of zero. Credit totals represent how much a player is liked by the current captain of the ship. During the game players attempt to improve their credit total and work their way up through the officer ranks. The aim of the game is to be the captain by turn 20, and go down in history as the starship commander who saved (or doomed) their race- after all, history will only remember one of you. These rules are derived from a really old game called "Don't beam me up Scotty". If this is a game you could see yourself playing, put down a name. You are a Junior Officer. Being from the First of the Sun, you are probably not a worldhopper (Or Kandra )- but you might be a trapper, and you might have an Aviar (though these are very rare and don't provide a mechanical benefit). If enough people are interested, I'll start the game- presumably with each turn being a week. Dice are involved, I will roll myself and let you know the results. If anyone has any questions, let me know and I'll do my best to answer them. The Rules:
  13. I would agree that shielding in this scenario would only serves the elims, and since we only have two active votes thus far and Arin has been online recently- I'll put my weight in to make the lynch secure, Arinian.
  14. what item lets you determine that...? And, can you only identify once per cycle? (makes sense since there are 7 names) If so, you might want to label which cycles you scanned each player, since ones that were done early in the game might not necessarily be true any more
  15. Can we really be sure these were all vigilante kills and a traitor kill...? (this would imply there are atleast 3 vigilantes, including straw) I mean, what about the lifeless that are on the run?
  16. well, guess I can't really keep holding onto a poke vote forever- Ecthellion I'll put down a serious vote once I've heard DA's response, I guess
  17. Yknow, Wilson- coincidentally, Straw was one of the people I looked at when I was trying to think who to poke... But, if Hael was the first omen and Straw was one of the omens on the third cycle... Why would Hael cast suspicion on a fellow elim by voting for him during the third cycle? Unless you're saying it was part of an elaborate plot...? I suppose you could use that as a point for or against, since the lynch had pretty much been settled by then- just figured it was worth bringing up .x.
  18. *shrug* I abstained from the vote because Hael talked me into an alliance early in the game- if that wasn't clear from the RP bit. I didn't put down a vote because voting against Wilson would be irrational given the arguments provided, and voting for Hael would be a douchey move on my part. Not that it would have made a difference to the bandwagon anyway- people who threw in their vote late should also be held under the same scrutiny. Also, there was no vote manipulation last round- Hael changed his vote to himself at the last minute as he conceded. But that doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
  19. @Ookthelion III Exion clicks his tongue, "Well, I might not be a Kingsman- or whatever the hell Khaos is- but I ran top-dog at the Cairnholdian prisons for a good three months before they kicked me out, and if there's one thing I learned it's that you gotta keep an eye on the real quiet ones who wear red uniform. Look at him, snickering behind his hand- thinking about how he's going to cook us and steal our cards... We don't even know his name! And you know whats worse? I think he might be a Kingsman..." -Nothing personal, Ecthellion. I haven't really got much to go on besides a poke vote, figure I might as well start one because iirc Ecthellion was considered suspicious a few cycles ago, before the whole dani and hael shtick- and I think that warrants following up -I did a quick glance over all the inactives and none of them really stand out to me- most have been off shard for weeks or Hael has voted for them in previous cycles.
  20. "Reveal Lies" would be handy albeit perhaps a little annoying after a while, if it can't understand sarcasm
  21. Pardon me if this has been mentioned before, but my talent is that whenever I open a draw I can never find what I'm looking for- but whenever someone else looks in the same draw the thing I'm looking for is there. x: huh, you could probably do a lot of weird summoning stuff with that
  22. So, uh... Four lifeless unaccounted for- does that mean the elims will get more kills during the night...? I'm not exploring, just in case x3 *builds pillow fort in the food cellar* also, @Mesa the Ookla you realize claiming you know the secret to winning the game is going to make you a target for the elims, right? <.< I'd advise you share what you know, if anything, while you still can
