  1. One thing I don't think has been discussed is countering Atium Atium basically makes a mistborn invincible, but it is limited in supply. Similar to Fortuity from Steelheart, the best way to defeat someone burning Atium is to checkmate them- or stall long enough for their Atium to run out. Basically, it requires either an all out attack or an all out defense. Trying to parry or feign an attack on a Atiumburner would be useless. The best course of action would be to be unpredictable, so that the Atiumburner can't foresee how to counter your move. Due to its rarity, an Allomancer will only use it in moments in desperation- it also means that mostly mistborn use atium, as Gnats rarely discover their powers- never mind have the resources to fund them- meaning there are other weakness's to exploit. A twinborn using Atium to store age would be essentially immortal (ie: the lord ruler), however- this also puts them at a disadvantage as merely removing the storage would revert the Twinborn back to their original state (I assume), which would leave them vulnerable if you can force them to take their elderly form. In terms of lurchers and coinshots- using Aluminum or its alloys as bullets would negate the need for complicated bullet mechanics- as they cannot be pushed or pulled. Having a Magneto helmet made of Aluminum could also negate the power of Rioting and soothing (I assume). So basically, Aluminum is Hazekiller Gold- as it isn't affected by Allomancy, meaning you can still use all metals assuming you make it an alloy of Aluminum. Tineyes are already vulnerable to bright lights and noises, using a variety of flares could force tineyes to drop their powers. Seekers can be overwhelmed by large quantities of metal all around, effectively blinding them- a well placed "smoke" grenade that throws up clouds of metal powder instead of smoke would force a seeker to drop its power. The secret for defeating Allomancers, though- I feel, is not through direct combat, but rather through setting a variety of traps. Using snares and mines are the best way to defeat an Allomancer, I feel- as Allomancers rely on mobility to outmaneuver their opponents. Anyway, those are my ideas :V
  2. Amazing post, Seonid and Breathtaker! I take it this process of combining Posts is necessary for moments of conversation and combat between players? I was unaware of such a technique... :X If Voidus and Kobold are struggling with continuing their own story because of my blunder, perhaps it would be ideal to resolve the matter in a similar fashion? I too would like to keep the story going as long as possible. As for Enchanting, that sounds awesome to me! :3 Would we have to "pay" an enchanter to enchant weapons for us, or could we do it ourselves somehow...? Also, are there any downsides to using an enchanted weapon (ie: The spirit won't do something it really doesn't want to do, etc)?
  3. Wait a second, the case against me is built upon something that Odium "said" to you? How can you be sure you're not being manipulated into lynching me?
  4. Hold on! If we Lynch Mailw, his Shard will just pass on to whoever he last invested in- then we wouldn't know who Odium is. At least by keeping him alive, we can monitor what he does through Shard powers.
  5. Welp, we lost a shard =.= We can use Ruins kill order once though through Endowment, right? It doesn't say we have to use it the turn it is given, just that we can use it only once. So, Snoopy- the Shards have a one use way to kill directly. Not sure if that changes anything though :/
  6. No point trying to organize a no lynch here, we've already discussed the possibility of a double claim. We've got a 50-50 chance of hitting an Eliminator, that's good enough stakes for me. Antillar Maximus There is no counterargument great enough to sway this lynch from either Ant or Vine, I feel. If Ant is the Eliminator, Honor (or another protector role) can protect Vine from Odiums kill order. If Ant isn't the Eliminator, we lose the Witness, but we also know that Vine is undeniably an Eliminator- and Ruin can then kill them with his Shardic power over the night phase. Either way, an Eliminator is killed. What else is there to discuss? Me boarding the train now is a little unnecessary, I admit- but I'd rather not have the lynch swayed by a rogue shard (again x.x).
  7. Sorry, I was under the impression that there was only one OC for some reason x.x If Odium did invest in one of his own, though- why was their only one kill last night..? Surely Odium and the OC he invested in would have made their Order...
  8. Panda, If we're going to win, we're also going to need Hoid to be super-charged to make full use of his powers. You admit that there will be mislynching, but we can't afford to lose any more major roles. This means we have to wait a few turns to give Hoid the chance to be invested by as many Shards as possible before we start accusing each other without any information. There is never information in the first few cycles, therefore- the first few cycle will almost certainly be mislynches. We can bypass this waste by just waiting a few turns before we throw out major accusations, which will give people in major roles more time to use their powers. I'm not saying we shouldn't do nothing, poking people for information has its uses, I admit- but following through with them only creates more suspicion that ultimately just repeats the cycle. Information from lynches isn't enough to prove someone guilt, we have to rely on other sources of information to back up our points. For example, we must consider that there is information that, as regular Worldhoppers, we cannot know. Endowment already knows who all the shards are, and we can assume Cultivation is making PMs for trusted individuals who are concocting a plan of sorts. We have to put faith in our shards because they know what we can't, for the sake of protecting themselves from Odium. I'm not saying that we should just believe people randomly, but that some people know more than they're letting on. Therefore, we can't just kill people on a whim. The Eliminators rely on our mistrust of each other to hide within the crowd, the Lynching only works because its inevitable that we catch someone eventually. How many people have to die before that happens? Better to wait until we actually gather real evidence than to risk killing someone of strategic importance. Snoopy, there's no guarantee that an investiee will become Odium in these early cycles- what it does do is eliminate the potential people who could be Odium. Ruin will only need to kill the investiee if we catch Odium within the same turn. If that does happen, we'll win the game. (OC can't kill anyone by themselves).
  9. The Walking Lifeless? Hoidstuck? Sprenmon? (Gotta bind em all?) The Dark Gyorn? Herdazian Guy? Mistborn Bebop? That's all I got... :B
  10. Gamma, while I do agree that lynching has its uses, Lynching at the start of the game only helps Odiums team. The chance of us hitting an enemy is too slim in these first few rounds, and working everyone up about "who said what" is only making things more difficult for ourselves. The Shards need time to find and set up communications with each other, the least we could do is give them a few rounds without killing each other so we can establish a basic network of communication. We're on a time limit, and every time someone needlessly dies means we have even less time. While pressuring people into acting gives us a good idea where their allegiances lie, its not a perfect system. From my experience, it kills more people than it saves. I'm not saying that we shouldn't not question people altogether, but we need to make sure that we aren't being manipulated into killing our own. What I'd like to know is who Odium invested in last night. Only one kill was made yesterday, but Odium had the chance to make two if he invested in OC. Since not investing at all is unlikely, since he'd be taking the risk that his shard won't pass on- I think its very clear that someone was invested by Odium last night, but they chose not to kill anyone. However, they also chose not to reveal their identity, at least- not to my knowledge. We could put all this effort into establishing alliances and what-not, but all it takes is for us to finally lynch Odium- then the whole process has to start all over again because Odium will become one of us. If we're going to win, then people need to admit when they've been invested. If we lynch Odium, we can then secure the victory easily. If we don't, Odium will pass his inheritance- and you'll be safe. I believe that it is in the general interest of everyone to admit when Odium invests in you. We can use the information of who Odium invests to work out who is Odium, as Odium will only invest in people he can be sure won't turn back and use his powers against him. Also, Odium cannot invest in himself- if someone has been claimed by Odium, that eliminates people from the list of potential suspects. This does, however- require people to be truthful. The only reason multiple claims will come up is because one of the Eliminators is posing to try distract us- if you still come forward then we'll at least know one of you is an Eliminator. This strategy is much more based around survival of the team rather than the individual, would people be interested in maintaining this kind of plan?
  11. If an OC claims to be the witness, won't the real witness say that they are lying? In that scenario, we know one is lying- and the other is telling the truth. We kill one, which is a 50-50% chance of being right- and if we're wrong, we'll have irrefutable evidence of an OC identity who we can then lynch. I say we stick with the witness plan for now, save the killing for later :V
  12. Actually, since Odiums goal is to get us to hate each other- won't making jokes and being friendly technically be the best way of resisting his influence...? No? Just me? Ok... :V
  13. "I wanna be the shardiest- like no one ever was.... To shatter them is my real test, to splinter is my cause! Odium!" XD
  14. If I remember right, it had to that Winter was hinting that she had some... Internal information... About the identity of a couple Shardies, know what I'm saying? The argument was that if Winter had information she wasn't sharing, it must be because she was on team red, if you catch my drift. That was only for a portion of her votes though, the rest were just poking her- because they were suspicious of her arguments, or something. Don't quote me on that, though- I'm not exactly keeping track of what people are saying. You can just dig it up yourself though, if you go to the main discussion- http://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/22914-lg-10-a-game-of-shards/
  15. My vote? Simple, it was getting to the end of the votes, Winter was on the ropes, I had my vote that could save her. See, if there's a tie in votes in a lynch, that means that nobody gets lynched that round. By putting my vote up the way the votes were, no one should have died because of the votes on sarc and winter- but of course, that's when everyone decided to play musical chairs... >.> I would have changed my vote, but as I said earlier- the transition is overnight for me, there was nothing I could do.
  16. How annoying.... >.> What do we even learn from this? There wasn't really any base for suspicion here, all we did was lose a major role. A role he didn't even have time to use! Can we just go one round without trying to kill each other for once? This is exactly what Odium wants us to be doing. Like I said at the start, Lynches at the start of the game can only hinder us, please can we stop doing them now before we lose a shard or worse?
  17. In the name of causing a no-lynch, I shall cast my vote to Sarc as well- for now. Assuming this will create a tie, nobody will die as long as nobody messes with the votes. Winter and Sarc are being as the most suspicious, it should be up to the shards who hold most of the information to decide who is the more suspicious through their powers. If the balance changes again, I will change my vote if I can (The write up might be overnight for me, but if it isn't I will be able to provide more reasoning if necessary). We all know the arguments for both sides, so I won't repeat them. I do believe that neither are guilty though, therefore a no-lynch is the only option I can take to try save them both. If you are going to poke me for more reasons too, bare in mind I won't be on much after this post until the morning- so don't expect me to respond right away.
  18. Dowanx, care to share what those suspicions are? In my experience, a lot of people get mislynched early unjustly because of really trivial things. We should make fair reasoning a priority when it comes to voting even if it means missing a few cycles, if we're lacking in suspects- creating them isn't doing anyone any favors. The evidence will come eventually, we just have to wait long enough for the enemy to make that mistake...
  19. (Is voting for someone who didn't give good reasoning good reasoning...? o.O) I agree with Winter, there isn't enough evidence yet to start throwing around real votes...
  20. Derushe woke up with a terrible headache. He was in an alley not far from the royal district where the party had been, he must have carried himself here last night and passed out... Picking himself up, he was glad to see at least he had all his possessions on him, albeit that wasn't much- just his clothes, an empty bag and a scrapbook. The odd thing though, was that he couldn't recall anything at all about last night. He remembered arriving at the party, then the Aons stopped working, and then someone burst into the ballroom. Was that typical for this worlds parties? Perhaps not, everyone seemed as surprised as he was, well- except two people... There were two people who had burst through the doors somehow. An Imposing Gentleman, and- to what could be assumed, was his petite Daughter. However, they didn't appear to be very close. Derushe remembered scribbling notes very quickly, when the man spoke- and despite lacking the proper Aons, he could comprehend what he was saying! "Listen up. You see that word on the wall? Wilson? It's the name of an actual immortal goddess. I'm a member of her church, I've seen her. She is awe inspiring. Join her, and you shall be rewarded as I have." A speck of light rose up from within his shirt. "This is Rules. She's my spren, given to me by my Bloodthirsty Goddess as a reward for services rendered. She lets me do this." He created a coin out of the air with a slight pop. Was this the legendary Allomancy he had heard of earlier? Amazed, Derushe scribbled notes even faster- when a couple who were talking amongst themselves came up to Strange Gentleman. The Man with peculiarly shaped shoulders and shaded face spoke first- "I also serve the Bloodthirsty Goddess. She granted me Edgedancing and I have absolutely no idea what she granted Kae, but apparently my ally also serves him." Then, the lady- Kae, spoke in a language Derushe could understand too. "Yeah, the Bloodthirsty Goddess led us to each other. Does anyone want to convert to the Immortal, Omnipotent, Omniscient, and Bloodthirsty Goddess Wilson. Also, biannual WilsonCon's coming up. See us for details." Did these three posses the same sigils that he had invented? Impossible, clearly none of them had been targeted by the Shaod. They must have some other mean of translating... Was that power unique to this planet, or were they like him? Other Explorers of the place beyond the Sky? And the thing they were talking about... An actual Alien Goddess! Amazing! Derushe simply had to to talk with them... And that is where his memory stopped, he couldn't recall what had happened after that. How frustrating, was it something he had drunk at the party- perhaps? That would make sense, his Body was entirely susceptible to things Local inhabitants would be immune to. Noting this down, he glanced back at the last few pages in his journal. Apparently, he had written something in his Journal before he had lost his memory- although, the handwriting was different. He regarded the first line- "To fix your Aons, draw them without the 17th Symbol Aon- she was shattered, which is why none of your Sigils which rely on all the shards work. Draw them again without her Aon and you will be able to use them again". Derushe tested this, and after establishing that was really the solution, set about correcting all the Aons in his book and all his Aon Tattoos- He simply had to explore this planet a little more, it was too intriguing to abandon now. What planet was Satrams on? Perhaps Odium/ his champion are on the same planet? :V (Not very conclusive, I know- but it might be worth knowing for later to use as evidence against anyone we want incriminate...) Other than that, I don't really see anyone being suspicious at the moment, so I'll hold my vote for now... :B
  21. There is of course, one issue- Gamma. Since The Enemy can potentially kill two people a cycle (if Odium invests in his champion), Odium can kill someone- see he has been witnessed, then he can command that his champion kills the witness before the day can even start, before the witness can accuse Odium. Joe, I'd just like to clarify if the scenario I just explained is possible- since it is unclear whether Odium will find out about being witnessed during the night phase (where he can still make his champion kill the witness), or during the day (where the witness will be safe during the day). Depending on this, we have to make sure the witness is protected before pursuing this plan- which will be difficult because there will be no way for them to prove to the protector roles that they are the witness. I just figured we should point that out in case we would lose a influential player purely because we hadn't considered all the possibilities.. :V
  22. Thanks ^-^
