Retleh Uethorn sat alone in his study, lit only by a candle- turning his deceased fathers pipe in his hand in deep thought. Out of all that his father left him, this was perhaps the most valuable. Lord Turukseed had hardly put it down while conducting business, and even though it had eventually lead him to his untimely death- to Retleh it was so much more than a simple clay pipe. It was a symbol of the Uethorn legacy, a physical manifest of the ideals of their house. Retleh laughed softly to himself- who would have thought things would have turned out this way? The entire world had changed in a matter of years- and people were starting to accept this new life like there was never another. A knock on the door snapped Retleh out of his reverie, "Sir, we're running late for your appointment- are you ready to depart yet?". Groaning inwardly, Retleh rose from his chair- he had work to do. Hesitantly, he picked up the pipe again- and lit it. Action 1: Who: Lord Uethorn Where: Keep Uethorn When: Turn 1 Act 1 What: Constructing a Tailor Why: As balls and nobility grow in popularity, so will the demand for high quality clothing

I'm up for bringing this back (although, I have got a lot of other stuff on too- so no pressure .3.; ) Lark, I was under the impression we were waiting for you to enter the tavern...? :V -
I'm on the board, I'm using Unodus there for simplicity sake- anything else I need to know? :B
-
alright, what textures need doing? I had a look through the forums, but I didn't find anything explaining what needed doing specifically :V

This looks really cool! I know I'm a little late, but if I could be of any help- I would really love to contribute if I can I've got a little experience with C#/ Java (I'm not sure you need coders for the program you're using, though .3.; ), I've read all the cosmere series (although I doubt you need any more brainstormers x.x), and I can draw stuff with my bamboo tablet (but I'm definitely not as good as lark ;-; ). I also have some music I made from when I did my music GCSE, they're not perfect- but I guess they're better than nothing if you're desperate for background music (bare in mind I can't change them now since I don't have access to the schools computers :V) With that in mind- I could do Textures, Digital paintings, Puzzle designing, brainstorming, and contribute a small part of music- are any of those roles not taken? ;X

Out of interest, who owns each channel? I mean, in practical terms it couldn't be a secret because they're used by all the houses (to transport goods)- right?

Turukseed considered the potato thoughtfully. What was the meaning of this unexpected gift? Was it poisoned, a trap? Was it a symbol of goodwill, a message? Or perhaps Hadrian was simply winding the other nobles up. Regardless, Turukseed wasn't entirely sure how to apply the mysterious plant. If Hadrian had intended them to eat it, he would have cooked it before he sent it. If he wanted the gift to be passed on, or to spark some sort of moral based actions- he would have hinted so. After a few more minutes thinking, Turukseed made his conclusion aloud- "I shall start a personal allotment, a garden starting just with just this potato. A man needs a hobby outside of his work, and its important for nobles to remember the values of life- a garden is a productive way of enforcing those ideals. If it is a trap, I won't fall into it- if it is intended to be passed on, I will have plenty to share. But first, to business..." With that, Turukseed put down the potato and reached for his seal so he could authorize his latest order. I've decided to not make Trying for an Heir my public action, to appease the current arguments against overusing it. Action 1 Who? - Turukseed Uethorn, House Lord What? - Uethorn is allocating 6 MP on Luthadel Public Law Enforcement in an effort to earn the favor of the local Skaa Where? - In Luthadel When? - Second action Why? - Partially to win the trust of the people of Luthadel, and to also keep crime down (since we're in an era of war and struggle to allocate food- I assume there's a lot of conflict to deal with)

Lord Uethorn casually wandered around the keep, and stopped just outside a communal dining quarter specifically designed for servants from each house to eat together- his eyes distant and unseeing. "Oh, what a bother..." He wondered out loud, "What a mess I've made- purchasing a secondary resource property without first considering the the resources necessary for its production... It may cost my house more than this production is worth to import it straight from the the local markets. I wonder, if any of the other houses are pursuing a market in the timber industry? Of course, no house would outright reveal which markets they have invested in publicly to protect their assets- but maybe if they only knew of my need, they would be willing to strike a deal which favored both our houses..." Turukseed glanced towards the servants, but already most of them had gone- racing to their individual house lord to be the first to share the potential deal. Satisfied, Turukseed lit his pipe and begun to walk back to his own keep. Such a brash move of trying to make all of the houses aware of his need was a gamble- but curious at what would come of it, Turukseed has taken the risk. Silently, he hoped one house would come forward privately- or he would have to risk much more in the future. Who? Turukseed Uethorn When? Turn 2, Action 1 What? Trying for an heir (Male: Gwydio, Female: Xenephilous) Where? Luthadel Why? To produce more potential heirs to his hosue

Just to clarify, the act of sending a trade request/ proposal costs the sender but not the recipient? What is the logic behind that? (I can understand why a trade would require as much effort as a regular action, but why does the one lose an action and the other not? This would stunt trading since neither trader would want to initiate a request since actions are already rather limited as is, and it doesn't make much sense in game since it implies that only the initiator is putting time into making the exchange when in reality both parties would have to organize the delivery of the agreed goods equally). In my opinion, it would make more sense if the trade either cost both parties one action each, or the act of trading resources costs no action (since negotiation is already free as well). Of course, it is your decision ultimately- I just wanted to check if there was a reason I overlooked since it is in the interest of all of us that trading is fair. :V

With great effort, Turukseed Uethorn lifted himself from his desk after long nights of preparing letters that would shape the future of his house- both to internal and external sources. Turukseed turned to his loyal wife, and realized that the introduction of allomancy would inevitably make the courting system even more complex than it already was. Children would be bargained like property for wealth, and that would twist the nature of society in a very sinister way. Would true motives beyond greed survive? It seemed almost foolish to believe so, but at least he could take refuge in the fact that his own marriage wasn't driven by politics. The future seemed bleak, at least he could appreciate what he had now and prepare for the inevitable- before all his virtues and ideals were buried beneath this rain of disgusting corruption and ash.

I assumed that the table Exisa approached was ours, so I tried to manipulate that without taking too much control of other peoples characters for the sake of story progression. If you feel anything I mentioned is illogical or out of character, just point it out- I don't mind making any corrections if I made a mistake. Also, Eowyn- are you ok with Exisa joining the team? (I should probably ask this stuff before I make the post, sorry x.x) -

Kherstor and Finner had been debating about their codenames for at least ten minutes before the steelpusher had walked over. "But my teeth aren't even made of iron! And whats with all the inquisitor puns? It's not like we're evil or anything" Kherstor whined halfheartedly "Right, that way no one will be able to interpret what you're actually storing- which is the whole point of using code names. You know, concealing our identity! And we are hunting down "mistborns", its not exactly a big leap from the steel ministry." "Ok, fine- but lets be honest, tinquisitor is not a cool nickname. Zincuisitor on the other hand...". Before the duo could continue their debate, they both dropped silent as a cloaked figure boldly started to approach their table. Kherstor reached into his coat pocket to ensure his revolver was still there, and Finner started to cling to his lapel. When he stopped at their table, he begun to rise slightly like a specter- which instantly drew Kherstors curiosity. It was a shame that his metalmind was nearly empty, it would be nice to see what he could pry from the individual- but he was saving the leftover mind-power for their special guests. "Good day, gentlemen. I couldn't help but notice the goods in your pockets. I too am in a similar business. Do you have room for a simple steelpusher?" Kherstor exchanged a look with Finner, both with polar expressions. On one hand, anyone in the roughs should be treated with some scrutiny- but on the other, only a trained steelpusher could be capable of maintaining that kind of balance, which could make them a valuable asset. Before Finner could shoo him away, Kherstor quickly jumped in- it was important to ensure these codewords actually worked, after all. "I'm in a good mood, you're welcome aboard- but I have one condition, you have to pay for our drinks!" Kherstor laughed. Visibly shocked, the strangers eyes narrowed- and after some thought, he strutted off to the bar. Finners expression was stony at best, even with his facade. "What?" Kherstor protested, "Look, we're planning on taking down a crime organization that no one believes in- and we're already heavily outnumbered, we need all the firepower we can get! Besides, remember the cost of those pancakes? This guy will probably cost less than my hat! Plus, as long as he doesn't know about the bounty- he won't ask for his cut, eh? We'll be able to pay him a thousand times over once we're finished." Kherstor tried to smile sportively, but apparently that only made Finner more uncomfortable. After a few minutes, the caped mercenary returned to the table with an even more disgruntled expression than Finners. "Sorry about that" Kherstor greeted him, sliding enough coins to pay for more than both their drinks to the mysterious fellow, "Just an initiation test. You passed, by the way. You'll be surprised how many troublemakers who want to secretly kill you don't want to go through the trouble of paying for your drink. Here, take a seat! Don't be shy, there's plenty of room." Unconvinced, the stranger took a seat at the unnecessarily huge table silently. "So, you may call me... Ironteeth." Kherstor sighed inwardly, "My friend and I would be interested in using your... particular set of skills. Price isn't really an issue, but we may require you to fight a lot of people at once- and there may be a few mistings too, but don't let that worry you. We are searching for our troubled friend, Jon, you probably don't beli-... uh... I mean "know" him, but we would very much like to see him soon. Apparently, he and his... "close family" are in the city somewhere. We were planning of meeting up with an.. Old friend of his, but you see- we don't know his current place of residence. I met some people who might know where he lives, and asked them to meet us here so we could discuss where we should look next- but as you can see, they haven't arrived yet. If you're looking for some extra pay, we would appreciate an extra pair of eyes. Oh, and this guy here is my pal- we call him the... Tinquisitor...." Kherstor groaned inwardly, "He's not much in a fight, but he can't get enough of those pancakes- eh? Just don't ask whats in his flask. So, you in? Oh, but before you make up your mind, you should know..." Suddenly, Kherstor burned Chromium- wiping out the strangers reserves. The look of panic on the strangers face was enough to make Kherstor grin manically enough to curdle cream- baring his white teeth, dotted with a few metal ones. "We don't take kindly to double-crossers, y'hear? It doesn't matter how good you are at flicking coins, if you sell us out- it'll cost you more than a few drinks". A few seconds passed, but the steelpusher didn't stir. After a while, Kherstor dropped the creepy stare and started to laugh heartily "Sorry, just another initiation test. You passed with flying colors again, of course. Do you have any idea how many troublemakers flip out and start breaking stuff once confronted? Must be some sort of subconscious guilt, or something- but its seriously hilarious every time." Finner shot a puzzling look at Kherstor, as if to ask if any of these initiation tests were real, Kherstor just shrugged in response. "Say, whats your name- kid? You'd think a coinshot could have any job in metal industry labor you want.Whats a fancy steelpusher like yourself doing out in the roughs? " -

Thanks Turos! ^-^ In terms of leaving the planet, my idea was that in Shadesmar (Since seas would be land in one plane of existence and vica versa on the other), a black hole in the physical realm would be a white hole in Shadesmar (ie: expelling mass instead of in-taking it). This would make escaping the planet relatively easy assuming you had an appropriate vessel to protect you. Because members of the 17 shard had reached Roshar without the use of surgebinding (since the knights radiants hadn't returned at that point) [http://coppermind.net/wiki/Seventeenth_Shard], we can conclude that there are other ways of entering Shadesmar without surgebinding- which leaves you with a lot of options on how ships can travel too and fro, for this story at least, if you need it. As for trade ships entering the planet, a few sparkers could easily calculate the right angle and momentum their spaceship needs to approach the void without being torn apart and reaching the planet safely. Does that work for your plans? :3 -

Tusurker arrived at the arch of the City Gallery before a racking cough overtook him. His chest infection had gotten worse over the months, Etne said it was something about the air and his immune system- it was bad enough to make him double over in hacking cough, but there was nothing he could do to stop it completely aside returning to a certain familiar atmosphere. Otherwise, he was on time- but the companion he intended to meet with was apparently running late. Standing up straight, Tusurker leaned against the arch and propped Etne blade down to the ground to support his balance while he looked up to the sky. Instead of stars, streaks of differently colored bright light bled across the empty sky towards the horizon like trails of raindrops sliding down shimmering glass on a weeping. The "sun" that wasn't a sun was starting to rise. It was a hole in the sky, an eternal eclipse that hung over our heads- deadly perhaps, but a regular sun was deadly in the same regard. That is, you shouldn't get too close to it- according to Etne. The streaks of light were all swirling towards it, as if it was a plughole of the heavens. The void, which Etne would also call a "supernova" on occasion, was what she would describe as "a dying star"- which seemed ludicrous to Tusurker, yet in the same regard, its entirety was ludicrous. Like an unquenchable thirst, it would absorb anything around it- pulling in stars and planets ceaselessly, yet for some reason this planet was unaffected. Etne insisted that somehow the small planet was resisting the voids grasp, counteracting the pull of the void with impossible force. The planet wouldn't orbit the void, but it still spun on an axis- creating the illusion of day and night for its inhabitants; and even though Tusurker was struggling with his infection, there was a unnaturally breathable atmosphere- and it was warm enough to support life despite the lack of obvious sun. Etne had concluded that this place wasn't a natural phenomenon, and some force or god was holding onto this planet at its discretion. What and why was the question. Since the planet was so close to the void, the city would suffer from what Etne refereed to as "gravitational time dilation"- hours here could be years on Roshar. Etne reasoned that this planet must be the abandoned remnants of some ancient civilization, preserved by the time dilation. This notion was supported by amount of settlements known on the planet, and more were discovered in the underground segments of the city seasonally. Unusual architecture littered the streets, some no one recognized and not all of it claimed were the makeshift homes of the stragglers who washed up on the planet miraculously and couldn't, or didn't want, to escape. Because the planet was "outside of time", the inhabitants were sometimes hundreds of generations apart from each other, which gave great sweeps of variation in culture from across the universe. Tusurker had heard of Legendary Mistborn, Powerful Elantarians, Heroic Returned- and so much more impossible tales from just the locals. Overs the years, a community had built up on this outpost. It was a lot to take in, but Tusurker had gradually grown to understand his new environment more and more. This planet was the perfect escape from anywhere in the universe, so a huge variety of people coexisted simply because it was better than going back to their own planets- which attracted a particular type of crowd. The truth was, there were no heroes in this city, only cowards and traitors. Tusurker had never felt more at home.

This sounds awesome! sign me up! _ The House of Uethorn "Will you follow me?" Turukseed Uethorn, the first of his lineage, took out his pipe when he saw Rashek. In all his years, he'd never considered this turnabout- but now he was here, what choice did he have? Turukseed remembered playing Rashek in stones when he was younger- even if he had truly touched a sliver of god himself, Rashek was going to need all the help he could get. Turukseed knelt on one knee, towards Rashek. "I will. I cannot let you take this burden alone, there is too much at stake."

One solution I've used to organize long sways of dialogue is to work out which character will say what over a PM- perhaps that is a better alternative? Also, since there seems to be a lot of discussion of "Godmodding"- if some are you are new I would recommend consulting this [ I know this is for the Reckoners RP, but it helped me get into the flow of things- perhaps those basics can help others too. In my next post, I was planning on describing how a city like this could exist in the cosmere. I've got a general idea already, but that subject would affect all the characters- is there anything specific anyone wants to mention that is vital in order to prevent inconsistencies? :V -

Kherstor was leaning back on a fine wooden chair in front of a large table when Finner walked into the Iron inn. The inn was a particularly rustic establishment off the main roads of the town, with a few table in front of a roaring fire and a friendly bartender. Apparently, business was slow at the moment- so there were plenty of rooms free for travelers such as himself. After the people who were being targeted had fled, the fighting slowly started to dissipate- and the assailants begun to retreat. Without any motivation to stay any longer, Kherstor had spent a few minutes tying unconscious bodies to posts and sending a runner to the sheriff so he could preform an official arrest. Kherstor didn't particularly enjoy giving that responsibility to one so blatantly corrupt, despite his position- but Kherstor had bigger fish to fry. Only Jon could have organized something on this grand a scale, and his motive fit the crime- the attack would be a perfect first lead if they could interrogate a few of the attackers. Kherstor couldn't find Finner in the aftermath- so he asked the locals for directions to the Iron inn which Finner had mentioned, and followed them in hope of regrouping with him and the mysterious group that had been attacked. The sun was starting to set by the time he got there, but now that Finner was here, they could start to plan for the morning. "Finner!" Kherstor cheered as he rose to greet Finner "You made it! Never a quiet moment in the roughs, eh? Come, sit down- I took the liberty of ordering us some drinks while I was waiting. That is, if you ever drink from anything besides that flask" Kherstor laughed heartily as they both took a seat on the ridiculously large table. "I hope you don't mind, I invited a particular group of people to join us. I believe they were the people that those assailants were targeting. They might be able to help us with..." Kherstor quickly looked over his shoulder, the bar wasn't bustling- but there were a few stragglers which would be worth being wary about. "Our... 'expedition'" Kherstor whispered in absolute seriousness, "I believe our friend Jon was responsible for today's 'main event'. You saw how many mistings there were, the only crime-lord in this area capable of organizing that which we know of could only be Jon. His men were targeting a young lady, one who had just recently been tested. I believe this is how Jon expands his enterprise, by targeting newly found mistings who haven't yet built enough of a reputation for themselves to be missed- and then forcing them to work for him to increase his arsenal of metallic arts he could pretend to be able to use. I suspect the person who tested this girl is secretly reporting to Jon, we should try and find out from her who he is and see what he knows. What do you think?" -
