I really liked the adaptations of Hunger Games. I think the Narnia movies were good as well. I really liked The Princess Bride, but who doesn't? The WORST adaptation I have ever seen was Eragon. That piece of crap haunts me to this day, making me physically ill when I think of it. The ONLY thing they did well was Durza's casting. Idiots.

People. Stop talking about Hoid writing The Letter as if it is canon. It's not. It's speculation. I will indiscriminately down vote and rail against people who do this from now on. Stop treating your espoused theories as Canon. Shallan was pissed when scholars did that. Shallan was written by Brandon, so we can assume that he is too. Stop.

Kaladins gonna fall in love with veil(spoilers)
RawToast225 replied to Wit422's topic in Stormlight Archive
No, he won't. This is just flat out fanciful and/or ridiculous. -
I chose "Cosmere Philosopher" as my title because it fits. I read and reread those books over and over again searching for random bits of things I have yet to understand, waiting for the time when all is revealed. Isn't that what a philosopher does anyway? Wait for the higher truths to be opened up to them as they ponder on them, trying with all their might to reach the level of understanding that will make them understand all things?

I will Introduce myself, so long as it is Right
RawToast225 replied to Unodus's topic in Introduce Yourself!
Well, the Cosmere is it's own universe. Steelheart takes place in Chicago after a fashion. It really just isn't part of the Cosmere. Don't let that discourage your reading of it! It's a fantastic book! If you look at the forums main page, you will see a section call "Brandon Sanderson" that has all of the Cosmere books listed in Topics. Under that is a section called "Non-Cosmere Books." Steelheart is listed in there. -

Hello, newbie. I'm Jabberwocky42 and I look forward to hearing from you. I want to make something clear, though. The way you've been talking about Steelheart makes me think that you don't know it's not part of the Cosmere. It's not. Just to be clear. -
Haha, yeah.

Nightwatcher Boon/Bane (Game)

Granted, but that was all you could do. Instead of walking, you would dance to your destinations. I wish to be omniscient. -
My explanation is that they are human and they are freaking huge books. Cut them some slack, they both narrated close to a thousand pages between the books.

Justic vs Mercy/Life vs Justice
RawToast225 replied to RawToast225's topic in General Brandon Discussion
Dang. Yeah. -
Okay, which is more important: Justice or mercy? Justice or life? Go.

That is what I mean, actually.

I'm sorry, but that is a terrible way to base the time. It should be a year in Elantris based on the time the magic system was fixed.
-
I agree. It's a good idea, though. Keep it in the back of your mind for later. Much later.

It is situational, but for the most part life before death should be observed. There is a reason it's the same starting oath for all of the orders. When in doubt, the Radiants would fall back on it. In the case of Szeth, he was rightly killed as it was to protect. In the case of the four men in the alley, they might have deserved what they got, but Jasnah shouldn't have been the one to doll out the punishment. In the case of Sadeas, Adolin shouldn't have killed him. Sadeas was terrible. He was going to try to destroy anything he could touch. That still didn't give Adolin ANY right to kill him. Dalinar should have been the one to do this, not his son. Dalinar never would have, but it was his right if it was anyone's. Maybe Kaladin could have done it to protect, but it wasn't for Adolin to do. There is my opinion. Agree or disagree, I don't much care. Just reason through your opinion.

He is a psychopath, in my opinion. He killed a man, destroyed the evidence, then went and put his arm around Shallan like nothing happened. I got the sense that he enjoyed the killing. I might be wrong, but Adolin will never be a Radiant, this murder wouldn't "destroy" him, and he will kill again. He might face Kaladin at one point as Kaladin tries to defend the man Adolin would kill. That'd be cool. I'd love to see that fight.

I misread the wiki page. I got it from the Shard page. Sorry, folks.

Hoid didn't shatter Adolnasium. The shards were in the universe before humans, even ones as powerful as Hoid.

That is the common argument for the second letter. It doesn't have me completely convinced, but I like to question pretty much every theory.
