  1. Am I the only one who's slightly entertained by Brandon's very specific percentages when it comes to how far he's worked through Calamity? If I remember correctly (which is highly unlikely) it went from 2% to 3% to something like 12% (maybe) and now it's at 19%. How do you even quantify an unfinished book down to one percent?

    Just something I noticed.

  2. I always assumed they just named the stances after the essences for cultural reasons. I think it's unlikely (buy hey what do I know, still totally possible) that they're actually based on how the KR fought or that they're designed to be more useful to a particular order, especially since most of the orders didn't really do a lot of fighting.

  3. Have any of you considered that Hoid May...BE...Brandon sanderson? Simply the guy that knows everything and is trying to make sure that all the stories progress like they are suppose too?

There is a WoB specifically stating that Hoid is not Brandon, though that was my personal theory for a while as well.

  4. In the Ars Arcanum in WoR, it says that Adhesion is the surge of Pressure and Vacuum.

    Edit: Ninja'd

I would also like to note that's probably why when Kaladin was flying around on the Plains that he didn't notice the air thinning or something like that because he was probably using Adhesion to mess with the air pressure so he'd have enough air. Sorry if that didn't make sense, but I think it was mentioned in a WoB somewhere.

    Edit: Found it

    QUESTION

For a Windrunner, if he had enough heating fabrials and enough Stormlight, how high up could he get?

    BRANDON SANDERSON

You could exit orbit. Windrunners, remember they're gravitation and pressure. So if he knew what he was doing, we have actually factored how long it would take to get to the various moons.

So somehow Windrunners can use Adhesion to control the air pressure around them.

  5. Pretty much canon by this point...he's just a cognitive shadow who has a little too much sway over events... (Part me hopes though that this is really a sign of either a Marsh, Kel, or Sazed POV - probably Marsh - since, the view point character may have a more...personal connection to Luthadel (or it's history)...

Mind you, this argument is about as solid as water vapor, but I wouldn't mind seeing Marsh's view point again...

That's true, but there's still a lot that's not answered. Is Kel choosing to stick around, or does he want to move on and is stuck? How is he a cognitive shadow anyway? What sort of stuff is he capable of doing as a shadow?

And a Marsh or Sazed or Kesier POV would be amazing. We'll just have to wait and see...

  6. Check out the document fragment on the right edge of the screenshot.

Luthadel... audience... overturned... were it... Kelsier's... for a...

I'll have to pack this away in my "Extremely tenuous evidence that Kelsier is coming back" folder in my brain.

The secret thing is not worth speculating about because no one will know anything about it anytime in 2015.

The background document is much more interesting.

More evidence for my theory that Kelsier never "moved on," even after HoA. Perhaps in the two new Wax and Wayne books we'll get to find out more. Or maybe not until the third Mistborn trilogy, which would be a very long wait. Grr.

Edit: And Brandon seriously never added "Kelsier" to his computer's dictionary?

  7. Smurf, I just want to say I didn't downvote you, I promise. I actually fixed it for you because you shouldn't get a downvote because your opinion is different. I also don't think you were being rude or anything in your post. It's no use derailing a thread trying to change someone's opinion. Hope there's no hard feelings.  :D

  8. In contrast to the above statement (though I'm not trying to change your opinion, I promise, just saying my own) I love Syl more than I love Pattern. Don't get me wrong, Pattern's great and he has his awesome moments, but I just can't connect to him. Perhaps it's because he's so alien, or maybe it's because he doesn't really seem to care. I don't actually know.

What I do know is that I care about Syl. Again, I can't exactly identify why, I just know that I do. She knows that Kaladin is depressed, so she does her best to cheer him up, and actually succeeds in making him laugh and smile a couple of times (which I think is a big deal because he almost never smiles genuinely). I think that's amazing of her. She's truly concerned about him and does everything in her power to help him.

Though I can see how someone could find that annoying. I know sometimes I really don't want anyone to talk to me, so having a spren who's trying to cheer me up would just make me angrier.

But Syl is still my favorite, hands down.
