  1. I think confusion is a natural consequence of spending any amount of time inside Wayne's mind.
  2. I'm starting to think that we're gonna hit 100 pages on the III thread before this one gets locked.
  3. I remember those days. It gets better; the first couple of days after each tightening are the worst. (I played the oboe with braces. I remember your pain.)
  4. Word on the street is that at least some of the districts are actually worried that if they tried to have school tomorrow, not enough teachers/staff will show up to be able to run it. Seriously? If we can't get these people to adult, what hope have we for the rest of humanity? You know, I don't mind it on a theoretical basis. I actually enjoy baseball, to some extent, and I get that the competitive team-ness of it provides an outlet for our more primal us vs. them instincts in a more productive way than something awful like war. But...seriously, KC? You were so classy last night! WHY? Fortunately, I don't have kids, so I can blithely ignore the whole bleeping thing. Except for the part where 2/3 of the floor are going to be out of the office, leaving the rest of us completely swamped with the calls that we know are going to come in....
  5. So, there's a parade tomorrow for the Royals. This is not an inherently bad thing. What is bad is that all of the local schools are closing. The parents in my office are livid. They don't have alternate childcare options available, so they're going to have to take an unplanned day off of work (thus messing with some of their planned holiday time off) just because the freakin' schools chose to close. Parents are furious. Teachers are furious. And now another coworker, Mr. Wiseguy McSmirkyface in the next aisle from me, who is laughing at the parents who are having to scramble. RIGHT IN FRONT OF THEIR FACES. I can't even with this guy right now. Must. Restrain. Fist.
  6. The Mistborn Era 2 fanfic I've been working on. I'm doing the second draft write over NaNo.
  7. Ponies are all around you! Mwahahahaha! And someday, when Swift as Steel is done and posted up somewhere, I will switch out my Eva!Pony avatar...for Me!Pony. MOAR PONIEZ!
  8. Maybe she's just my spren. No duel? Oh...oh, thank gods. I hate rap.
  9. I didn't have to turn on anything last night to know that the Royals had won the World Series. No TV, no internet, nada. Because from where we were snuggled into bed, my husband and I could hear all the fireworks and whoops of victory.
  10. Hiii! Now, now, there's an etiquette for this sort of thing. A gun duel is far too violent for moms. I think this may need more of a "The Real Slim Shady" rap battle sort of thing. Funny thing is, I'm not even an actual mom. They all just decided I was one day when I was giving out parentish advice on the Bad Day thread....
  11. Eeeuuugghhh. Either. Both. Pick one. ...huh. Well, I got declared Forum Mom by popular demand! So, um...there? Looks like y'all had fun. Seriously, this is not even on the same level as the Rubix identity shenanigans. Oooh. Identity! That's it! Rubix is an aluminum Ferring!
  12. See, now the most appropriate response to that (right before blocking, of course, so that you get in the last word) is, "Your face is a creep."
  13. The almost-annual tradition of Pumpkin Katana Baseball happened today! There are some pictures. They'll be making their way to the Random Stuff thread sometime soon.

  14. I cannot make up my mind whether this is more or less painful than the deep-fried Twinkie.
  15. I think I wound up picking flute because I had an aunt who was willing to lend me her instrument for a couple of years. That is just so bizarre to me, since clarinet has the single screwiest fingering scheme of any instrument ever, and a super-sensitive embouchure. "Hey, let's stick all the kids who aren't sure onto the thing that's hard to learn the notes on and squeaks like an epileptic rat!" I'm doing it, though I'm not doing it right this year. I'm using it as impetus to do my rewrite of my Mistborn fanfic novel so that I just get the rusted thing DONE. Found and added you both.
  16. A lot of girls choose flute to play because they believe it's a shy, quiet instrument. I was the flute player with the heart of a diva. I wanted to be heard! Naturally, I got pegged to pick up oboe when I hit 8th grade. Because of all of the instruments, oboe is the one that will not be silenced.
  17. Given how she expressed disapproval of the bloodlines mixing and how dangerous it could be, that would be one heck of a twist.
  18. Very Ravenclaw. I approve. Is it a true baritone or a euphonium? (I just like the word 'euphonium'.)
  19. Eh, how that would work would probably depend on the individual health issue. I actually doubt that it would drop the miscarriage rate that far, since most of those are due to a genetic/development defect in the fetus. There'd be no actual injury to heal.
  20. I'm sure Peter will zero in on the puns. I'm reasonably certain that he's got Allomantic bronze for detecting corny jokes on the Shard.
  21. I have friends who are Wheel of Time fans (haven't read it myself) and they started talking about that Sanderson guy who finished the series. And then they told me about Mistborn and its nifty magic system. I thought, "Huh, that's interesting," and picked up the books about a year later. They were good. Then I got Alloy of Law and I was hooked.
  22. Happy birthday! Happy birthday! May the candles on your cake Burn like cities in your wake!
  23. Except if you Pull while Compounding weight, you can indeed pull an entire building down onto your head. And this is why the nickname for double-iron is "Deader".
  24. I have two moments to share! That moment when I'm talking to my dog, and realize that I sound just like Fluttershy. And that moment when I realize that my husband has probably been playing the Wii more than on his computer lately because it puts him closer to me while I work on all of my craft stuff.
  25. It's not that I memorized it on purpose, I just...remember it. We listened to a recording of it, and I still remember some of the vocal inflections. This is probably why I did so well in school. You're alive! (Seriously, it is dingdangity quiet around here when you're not at work.)
