  1. We know it's potentially dangerous to do any sort of long-term compounding and stop suddenly, but the actual effects are going to vary drastically by the metal. Essentially, you get a form of compounding drag.
  2. Yes, but the actress who plays her is guesting on Doctor Who and is the person they're talking about.
  3. Still working madly on getting scale mail sewn to corset. Between that and getting the different panels of scale to actually line up and fit together, it's labor-intensive. You shoulda seen me back in my substitute teaching days - everything from kindergarten to high school. (Spoiler alert: teaching kindergarten is terrifying.) I don't know about that. But should we ever have a crossover team-up, that's when y'all should look out! Nope! I...may have really been involved in conversations like that before. Keep in mind, I don't actually have kids.
  4. Voltron, not Ultron! You know, the cartoon about the mechanical space lions (NOT the vehicles!) who can combine into the big space robot dude... Oh, nevermind. You all are making me feel so old.
  5. I shudder to think what's going to happen next year during all those long weekends I'm going to be gone for conventions. Rubix will probably figure out how to go completely Voltron by then.
  6. ... Seriously, I go away from the Shard to a Halloween party for ONE NIGHT, and this is what happens? This is like every movie ever where the parents go away for the weekend and the teenaged kid(s) proceed to wreak havoc and enact shenanigans!
  7. I actually like seeing characters with highly developed skills that are independent from their powers. It makes them feel more like people.
  8. Tell that to Queen Elizabeth I. Also, whoa, dude. Your signature has gone a wee bit insane. You might want to fix that before one of the mods sees it.
  9. Well, see, gingers sustain ourselves by nibbling off tiny pieces of the souls of people we meet, cobbling it together into one multisoul that lets us get around. But it makes us difficult to devour ourselves, as we are made up of multitudes, which is too hard for soul-eaters to overwhelm. This conversation makes less and less sense the further it goes on...
  10. Well, I am ginger, so there we go! Scheme foiled! Muahahaha!
  11. Not to be confused with hailing Satin, the patron god of fabrics.
  12. OK, no drinking it for you, then. But who said anything about hiding it? What I'm saying is, if we ever meet in real life, don't introduce me to your family. I'd be that person who would burst into the room in front of your mother, raise a bottle of the stuff to the sky like a Tusken Raider brandishing their weapon, and cry out, "BEHOLD THE POWER OF FANTA!" And then run back out before she could react.
  13. Oh, Wayne is brilliant, but it was established in AoL that he defies all logic. After all, he did buy that talisman against it that lets him use mathematics to create pickles.
  14. *looks at friendlist* ... *looks at members list* Heh. My fandom brings ALL the (active) Waynes to the yard!

  15. Welcome to the madhouse! Come for the randomness, stay for the camaraderie! OK, when Wayne could actually teach a person a thing or two about logical reasoning, there is something seriously wrong. I think that you should buy a case of Fanta and bring it home to share with your sister. If you're in a part of Texas that's in Hurricane Patricia's remnant-path, that cat is going to have a rough couple of days.
  16. I made a dressform! It looks like a lumpy hunchback, but it's close enough to me that I can fit the corset and armor using it.

  17. OK, this makes me want one of these so. much. more. Kickstarter? Anybody? Anybody? Bueller?
  18. Should the Sanderson store decide to create these, I predict many, many Sharders (including myself) crying out as one voice: "Shut up and take my money!"
  19. Threadjack! There is a dachshund in your avatar! Eee! /threadjack Iron Man would clearly be a Steel Inquisitor with a fancy suit. Natural Rioter, he's got spikes for steel, iron, and pewter at the very least.
  20. I would actually argue that Twinborn are more interesting than Mistborn. The limitations of their powers lead to them being more creative in playing with them and the ways that they combine. It's that creativity and discovery of new ways to do things that wakes my fascination. Well, that and Wayne antics, but I've come to terms with the fact that those can't last forever.
  21. I am a member of all of those groups, and am far more amused than offended.
  22. Is there a specific WoB that states that an aluminum gnat can burn off metals that they otherwise cannot burn? It was always my understanding that it worked that way on Mistborn specifically because they were capable of burning those other metals.
  23. I was going to reference this, but it appears that I don't need to. Beaten to my own quote!
  24. Dressform = mannequin of sorts, used by sewers. This one is shaped specifically to me so that I can fit my Jean Grey armor properly. Honestly, it's not that difficult to breathe in a corset; Hollywood exaggerates things immensely. In my experience, a properly-fitted corset is infinitely more comfortable than elasticized shapewear. If I put on a set of Spanx, I feel vaguely nauseous after 2-4 hours. If I put on a good corset, I'm comfy all day. You have to tell the forum when your birthday is or else it doesn't know. Happy birthday!
  25. It was kind of funny. "Well, we can't come this weekend, but we could probably make next weekend. I mean, I'd prefer to stay home and not skip out on the trick-or-treaters, but if you really want us to..." And her response was, no, no, we'll find another time. I felt kind of bad about doing it, but that sort of thing actually offends her less than just being direct. It's weird. There's a huge streak of passive-aggressive that runs in that side of the family. What's hilarious is that my mom, grandmother, and aunt all recognize the tendencies in each other, just not in themselves. Me, I recognized it in myself when I was in my 20's and deliberately went on an internal P/A killing spree. But I have to be careful, because the seeds are still there. I can't let them sprout. Constant Vigiliance!
