  1. Wait, why can't the girl get Star Wars stuff, too? (I got my niece the book "Vader's Little Princess" last year. It quickly became her favorite.)
  2. Speaking from a pagan point of view....I mostly don't mind Christmas. Of course, most of the holiday traditions are taken from pagan religions, so I have a pretty good gigglefit when people start crying out that not putting a tree or a reindeer on a cup is part of the "War on Christmas". No, there's no War on Christmas. I just happen to consider Yule to be a more religious holiday for me. (On the other hand, all this cold weather can just go die in a fire.) I prefer my Christmas music served up to me by Mannheim Steamroller. Yeah, it's cliche, but those arrangements are actually good. Also, the less-common madrigal-type songs out there are pretty good. The Boar's Head just doesn't get enough play, I tells ya.
  3. +1 to bow ties. Would vote again.
  4. *imagines Twi's mom reading the Principia Discordia* *imagines Twi's mom's head exploding* Wait, I just imagined exactly the same thing twice.
  5. Get them bubbles! (What? Everyone likes bubbles, right?)
  6. In Wax's defense, he probably doesn't know that Doctor Who is Cosmere. (It is Cosmere, right? Because I am totally sold on the "Adonalsium is a Time Lord artifact" theory.)
  7. It looks like the general consensus is, "Both probably enhance balance, but would do it in different ways." Thanks, everyone! You guys are the best.
  8. Yeah. All Time Lords are Gallifreyan, but not all Gallifreyans are Time Lords. They're sort of a social/educational elite.
  9. Stupid backup 'puter and its lack of Firefox. IE won't quote properly. Mistrunner - Why do I get the feeling that you are an introvert child of extravert parents? Young Bard - bleh. Inconsistency is a huge parenting fail.
  10. Draco and coffee. Maybe mocha flavoring will help make the Wolfsbane potion go down easier?
  11. Spoilers ahoy!
  12. ...this from the guy who eagerly bounced in to volunteer to beta read for my Mistborn Era 2 fanfic novel.
  13. You get a float trip! *inserts a kayak*
  14. OK, so science has identified a ton of other senses that humans have beyond the basic "five". We have stuff like thirst, hunger, thermoception, pain, balance, the passage of time, the position of our body parts in relation to the others, etc. Heck, apparently we even have the ability to sense magnetic fields, though we're kind of terrible at it in comparison to birds. Obviously, Scadrians haven't figured out that they have more than five senses yet, but the question remains what sort of effect (if any) Allomantic tin would have on those "extra" senses. (Obviously Feruchemical tin wouldn't do anything, because you have to know you have a sense in order to store it into a metalmind.) So, specific question: I chalked the sense of balance up as something that tin could enhance, and one of my beta readers came out and said, "Hey, shouldn't that actually be pewter that would do that?" And my answer was, "I don't know. Consult the boards!"
  15. ThirdGen is a film nerd. He has knowledge of clips that mere mortals like us fear to imagine.
  16. I've got a couple of cousins who went Aggie. Their school spirit, even now as adults years out, is a wee bit excessive. On the bright side, if you got a band scholarship, you'd have to go to the games, have something useful to do, and would avoid the shunning.
  17. Well, at least if she wants you to get the other dogs' food you then have a legitimate reason to ask for money? So. Saw the last Hunger Games movie today. That is not a thing to complain about; it was good! Not so good: I saw the trailer for Gods of Egypt. I...I don't even know what that was, but it in no way resembled Egyptian mythology.
  18. I see your brain weasels are out early tonight.
  19. Every power of two is a rep change. Someone else spotted it a while back.
  20. eeeeeeeee! I mean, erm, thank you.
  21. Hee! The dachshund is pretty spot-on, too.
  22. A nitpick here - it was actually specifically stated that Harmony had NOT tried to take her over or control her before she pulled her spike and descended into madness. He was only willing to take that extreme action after she had gone on her in-book murderous rampage.
  23. I've been imagining the clothing types as being a melding of Victorian/Edwardian that's starting to develop towards Roaring 20's styles.
  24. They're the things that slip inside your mind and whisper terrible things to you. They tell you how you're not good enough to do all the things you're planning to do, how you're going to fail and how everybody secretly hates/pities you. (Twi has an entire herd of these that we're all trying to kill off. They're insidious little vermin.) Not exactly, but I did look down at mine recently and think, "Gee, my hands are starting to look older." Apparently my hands are aging faster than my face.
