Members of the new Knights Radiant.
KevinTheHerdazian replied to Reaperess's topic in Stormlight Archive
I recently started seeing Elhokar as Odium's champion. think about it. he acts out and throws fits He is easy to manipulate He is angry because he doesn't posses the power needed to go along with his authority If I was Odium, I would try and influence Elhokar into my champion. Dalinar and Adolin will both hesitate to harm him, and Kaladin's oath to protect him will get in the way. And what better way to do this by giving him powers? Elhokar will now believe he IS the King and will exterminate threats to his rule, my guess is trying to banish Dalinar but he's still a highprince so who knows if Elhokar can be prosuaded to do that. You guess make a good point by saying he could be a dustbringer, but making him THE voidbringer would be even more unexpected. I haven't read edgedancer or oathbringer yet, but to me this seems way more likely then him becoming a radiant. Everyone already suspects him of being a radiant, and obviously the Kholin family is flourishing with "proto-radiants", I think that Brandon is leading us by the nose on this one guys. Why would he make the book the way the readers will expect it to go? I mean no offense to any of you, especially Maxal because Adolin is my favorite too, but making Elhokar a radiant is pretty expected, and by the way he's writing it, you can bet these are one of the things he's going to flip on us. Also, you guys could make any argument about every single character being a radiant, but just because it would make a good story or by certain scenes where they portray an attribute, it doesn't mean that's part of who they are. Everyone gets angry, everyone is protective, and everyone has a role-model they look up too and will most likely obey. These are just human normal human behaviors. -
Maybe you could make it sort of like game of thrones ascent, where you start off as a farmer/city dweller/normal civilian/royalty. Then choose your previous job was then starting stats, kinda like fallout, afterwards random situations happen and based on your responses you can bond a spren, become a soldier, general, ardent, or something. Then there can be desolations where you either fight as a soldier, Radiant, or medic. something like that would be legit.

If you were a twinborn, what would you like to be?
KevinTheHerdazian replied to Lord Bookwyrm's topic in Mistborn
if your going that fast why would you need to go that fast for that long anyway. Maybe it does affect your age or maybe not, either way you wouldn't need to use it for extended periods of time. I would not use speed to do work faster, I would use it to end fights as quickly as possible. So I could go fast enough that I can compress 10 seconds into one second, and kick butt like that. Especially because most fights don't last over a minute, imagine if I could punch twice or three times as fast as a normal person. you wouldn't even need to compound your feruchemy that much. if facing another allomancer then compound 30 or 40 seconds into one second normal time. You could get to them and remove all metalminds before they could blink, and still have enough time to stab them in the head. Even if you did age, you'd only have aged 40 seonds more than normal. I know eventually this will all add up but I don't think it would be as extreme as you guys are thinking.- 155 replies

For the longest time I thought that Sadeas was going to be his champion, because of chapter 29 of WOR. He seems consumed in the thrill which is one of Odium's heralds isn't it? But alas, I deduced wrong...

If you were a twinborn, what would you like to be?
KevinTheHerdazian replied to Lord Bookwyrm's topic in Mistborn
I agree, it would be silly if that's how it worked. that's like saying usain bolt will die earlier because he goes like 3/5 faster (100% accurate) *sarcasm* than everyone else- 155 replies

Shardplate- okay, now I've been thinking about the physical appearance Of it. Does the whole armor glow when used by a Radiant? Or just the joints? And when it is being worn by a regular human and is not painted could you tell the difference from regular armor? It seems weird to me that people can just tell that someone has shardplate all the time. If you painted a very intricately designed armor plate would people think it's shardplate? When I first read WoK I thought that shardplate was translucent and see through-ish, now I know that is not correct according to WOR. Another question, is the person in the cover for WoK the parshendi chick (venli? I forgot her name and don't got my book with me now)? Or is that dalinar's unpainted plate?

And since both lines of forbidence and line of revocation both interact with 3-d objects, would it be possible to push a line of forbidence with a line of revocation???
-
A good line of forbidence can stop a cannon ball. A line of warding does not interact with 3-d thing. But a line of warding can be used to push back a cluster of chalklings. And this would be even better if the lines of warding didn't have to be circles, just very curvy lines. Like a parabola

I didn't want to necro a discussion, So I wanted to know how you all think of how they were created. By Cultivation? Or just naturally appeared through selection? How big do you all actually think they are? I always thought that Ryshadium would be about 2 feet taller than a normal horse. How about y'all?

Okay guys, while I do agree that spheres make up most of the economy, they still use trading. That one guy traded soulcast metal, that used to be wood, for chickens. I'm guessing that not all countries use spheres for example; the shen and the reshi. Please keep that in mind before you go criticising Brandon about not being a good author for not thinking about the economy of roshar.

And add some windrunners and a bondsmith then they could help with the mortar for the bricks once they find a more lasting way to use adhesion. Then get some non radiant shardbearers with some elsecallers and the elsecallers could form their spren into arrows an the non radiant shardbears could use the fabrial grand bow to shoot. Awesome plan!

Well each stonewarden could make their spren a giant brick the size of a human. So like 20 radiants could make a good sized wall. An army of those guys could make a small fort. That would be pretty awesome

He only has to protect as long as it is right. If it's not right to protect him then he can kill him. It is not right to protect evil (voidbringers) but since the listeners weren't voidbringers then it was different cuz they weren't evil yet so he was more reluctant to fight them except when protecting Dalinar. His second oath, I will protect those who cannot protect themselves, is very open to interpretation. One might think that nobody can protect themselves because they aren't radiants and they cannot protect themselves against him with much efficiency, but another might think that every one with a weapon can protect themselves since they pose a danger, a minimal danger, but a danger nonetheless. It's not right to attack someone whose is protecting their home so kal didn't like his men or him to fight the parshendi unless they were protecting one they were assigned to protect. but he didn't help the parshendi fight the alethi because it is not right to betray ones own country and countrymen. That's how I see it at least.

Shardblade vs. Lightsaber
KevinTheHerdazian replied to OathGateHereICome's topic in Stormlight Archive
Jedi will still win but not outright. It would be a good fight but the Jedi will win because of the Force. I really want to say that a Radiant will win but the Jedi will win just because radiants run out of stormlight.- 78 replies
