  1. So was listening to the way of kings when i hear Drehy.. (Member of bridge 4) Kaladin pulls an entire volley of arrows into his shield, bridge 4 then sets down the bridge and goes awestruck. Drehy then comments "By the bright colors rays!" Following dialoge continues... however, to me this sounds a lot like someone from warbreaker. Possible world hopper? Or anyone already find him already again couldn't find his name spelt correctly. I hadn't paid attention to him till just then dispite about 50 rereads
  2. Actually though if a kandra were to burn copper would it become immune to control?
  3. Haha while i would agree with you this us a city where people live in almost absolute order once someone decides something the city finished remarkably fast on the scale of cities. And it all finished at least with 30 minutes before the storm came and i feel like i am being tough on the timeline there. (As lift traveled the city running, attempting to slide and failing slowing her more). The people of the city would not simply forget or overlook parshmen slaves. As there would be A LOT of paperwork after that.
  4. Hmm, i listen to the audio, but I thought Regardless that wob kinda answers that. Now I am just curious if they sleep on bed rolls or beds and what the rooms look like.
  5. Yeah, shallan tells dalnair to exile them, leaving them behind and in the example inside edgedancer. People are following orders to put them out in the storm to die presumably (I assume, or at least got that impression) so i am going more on an extremist side of it since if word spreads around I could totally see everyone leaving the out to die in what would be seen as a dangerous storm. And i was saying highstorms since that would be where they would hide in the storm. But if they are safe then there wouldn't be any concern if parshmen are safe inside out of the storm.
  6. Parshmen are valuable, even if you are indifferent towards them as most are, you would not want to risk losing them due to high storms. Which leads me to my question... Has anyone asked where they sleep? If they are inside a closed building should they not be protected from the storm? Which brings me to the assumption that shallan herself caused a wide scale desolation rather than a contained uprising +new storm.
  7. The other half of winderunners is leadership right? Nothing in my mind would challenge him more than getting into a situation where he has to obey Roshone, (can't have 2 leaders going in different ways even if 1 is better it is better to be unified in commands) plus this way no need to hurt kals family directly that way
  8. For that matter ice.. I would like to know as well
  9. Why not take two out at once? Renarin vs shallan One reveals truth vs one that will hide truth Shallan also seems much more outspoken than renarin is.
  10. Could this be a strider in the storm?
  11. In edgedancer we see szeth has a blurry image behind him. Why? Last i heard/checked didn't Sanderson change the end of WoR so that Kal did not kill him? (Was under the impression this was caused by a shardblade till I remembered this) Yeah szeth fell to his death, and unless it is just speculated that it was the faberial that causes it I can't think of anything.
  12. Could that be a multipler on the metal minds? I wouldn't think so...
  13. Waita second could the pancake not have been make for the cognitive realm. As it was described as it is thought to be made for that. If he is in the cognitive realm or at least able to visit... He could be surviving off of pancakes alone!
  14. For my side of the theory: 1.) They wanted EVERYONE to know that they abandoned them, and that way the Knights would have a spotty slate for new Radiants to mark clean. 2.) Not.... sure if I understand what your saying. A.) It has been what 1000 years since the Recreance? B.) A Knight wouldn't tell other people because they were wanting people to dislike them. 3.) Well, the voidbringers are coming back so the spren have to get over their fear/anger if they want to continue on. Aside from that the Stormfather may have had instructions to keep the spren back until it is time to re-release the Knights. Giving time for the good stories to disappear and leave only bitterness as a thought towards the Radiants. 4.) As stated in the original post and point 3, I feel like they needed to do something horribly un-honorable, such as desertion? As has been mentioned multiple times desertion is like the worse felony you could do. A Knight doing that would be unheard of.
  15. Well, when Syl said the spren were killed, that is when they decided to create the "stain" in memory so that future Knights would have more room to grow. I imagine that all the knights grew up with the ideals already set. Yes individual they may be different, but the concepts would have been set in stone... I would assume that at some point the ideals would be shared with the populous and blam there is your next ideal you have to swear. Yes, they could surge bind in battle but they were still upholding their oaths, the moment they put down their swords and plate, they committed and broke their oath. I think they were caught in a trap of their own creation. They could anger the spren, but have hope, or they could betray men and slowly be crushed by the same thoughts that now destroy Alathkar, where the Ardents there all give the truth in a special way. They grew from having a noble purpose to something that was terrible. In allowing the orders to reform without guidance, they then allowed the new Knights to grow and reach the boundaries of their oaths. Sorry I'm having a hard time explaining what I mean... I'm no writer Ah, my thoughts is for more internal without an external force. Did the Knights know of the oathpact and what the terms were? If so I could believe that as part of it.
  16. I wanted to hear how you all would tear this theory I have up. Posted from a phone. Before the Recreance the Knights Radiant has had knights for a long time- All the orders were strong in the fight against the voidbringers. Or were they? To become a Radiant one must be broken for the spren to bond with. But what would happen if everyone or at least most of a population wanted or wished to become a Radiant? The Radiants wish to help others, so that they themselves don't have to be broken and that the world would be a better place. The people would then try to learn and imitate the Radiants. In the books we have a scene from the Ardents where if you were to measure a flame spren then it would freeze in that capacity. What would happen if through time the Radiants hit a point where they could not progress because everyone was doing what was right. It was the epic kingdoms all lands were united against the evils of the world. People wrote down the kindness and the epic stories of the Radiants, but at what point does that become common place, when the oaths they have sworn came down to take a general view to the point that if a Radiant isn't careful would break an oath in a otherwise acceptable time? Take the example from the alloy of law, Maraci she explains her fascination with lights. If everyone is the same pure white light then there is nothing different, it would be the darker lights that would be different. Kaladin even shared this view against Dalinar in the opposite light, as he rescued him. (Every bright eye was evil and hid behind a few good deeds). It was Dalinar who was a bright light which let him gain the trust of Shallan and Kaladin. Should the land of Roshar hit a point where everyone was this pure white light then there is no room to shine. Only way to let more Radiants to be free of this is to create a stain in everyones memories breaking the "leash" that bound what others thought that the Radiants had to do. I believe that the spren of the orders were getting to a point that they were freezing through the exact way they gain access to the Radiants. Note I believe the Radiants could still surgebind because they were still bonded and still upheld the oaths they had sworn. The Radiants tried everything to release the spren of the self image that others created. Sizgil mentioned that the most dishonorable weapon is the sword. Which is the reason that the shardblades took form in the shape of a sword. I think even Honor tried to leave room for interpretation when the honor blades were made by having them in a shape of a sword. Anything out there that tears theory apart? Sadly can't devote time like I would like to and made this post while riding a bus Short theory shorter: Radiant Spren got caught in a limitation of the minds and stories of men.
  17. Bah.. okay. Was listening to the books and couldn't find if it was the spike or just being broken... forgot about the whole snapping was Roshar's breaking
  18. So I have a question regarding Mistborn and Stormlight Archives... My question was Vin able to control the kandra because their spirit web is broken or because of the spike? And if it was because it was that they were broken do you all think an allomancer could then sooth a surgebinder? Who has been repeatedly stated that they are broken. Or am I understanding this wrong?
  19. The ardents have put the keyhole into religion, Therefore could the locked oathgates (Which might be spren) be locked in place and be unable to act as a gate till all figures of "how it represents how the all-mighty must look at the hearts of men" Is removed from text? (Thought there was a mural with that depicted on the wall)
  20. (Stone Unhallowed reading)
  21. I ask that because I found it odd that no exhaustion-spren came to her when she used up all of her stormlight, unless they are just so common that they ignore them. Although emotion spren would be very important to a thief as they cant attract spren as that would give them away. Actually I don't remember any talk of a spren besides Wyndle.
  22. So Wyndle stated that the nightwatcher gave lift the ability to touch spren. (Spoilers from the expert of book 3/ post WoR) In the chat between kaladin and syl she talks about hunts between spren implying that spren can be harmed in the cognitive realm, and with Jasnah and ivory when she traveled to the cognitive realm ivory implied that there was spren that would kill her, but could not in the physical world. Since lift is able to touch spren would that mean that she could also get killed by one? Would be interesting to see her running from some allies or take wounds... from nothing-as observed by her allies. You all think it could be her death? (Let it please not happen I see something bad with being able to touch spren) Also is she able to attract spren?
  23. Ah sorry I didn't find that topic when I was searching. Possible theory could spren while in the cognitive realm be able to have a small investment of precognition, They are from honor/cultivation who has the ability to see into the future, honor not as good but still has a sense for it. And they can start to form a weak bond from the pre cognitive words being spoken? Or at the least they would be able to see who would be able to fit the criteria for bonding before it happens. (wild theory with no proof, and made on the spot)
  24. I tried looking around and couldn't find anything on this, how did Shallan become a radiant, or at least start bonding pattern? I was under the impression that one could not fully bond a spren unless they were "broken".They could start to attract one but couldn't finish the bond. In the book she seems to have became a radiant after she killed her mother. But how could she summon pattern before breaking. And Shallan's mother couldn't have broke her because her becoming a radiant was the whole reason she attacked shallan in the first place. The reason this bothers me is that shallan references that as what broke her. Is this what her next truth will be about or am i missing something?
  25. Is there a rule that spren have to manifest physically next to the radiant? (discarding the morality of the choice) what would keep a radiant from telling the spren to form into a blade above the head of your unaware enemy? Also i don't think you would have to worry about catching the blade of your spren sine they could just turn back into a spren before they hit.
