  1. I never fully roleclaimed to Kipper despite my trust in him. By saying that I mean that I never told Kipper "I am this role". I hinted at my role when we were over 30 hours into the turn. That hint was vague and could've gone a couple different ways. With about 8 hours or so left of the turn, I finally narrowed down on which of those ways I meant, so he knows my role now, but it took over 40 hours for me to feel comfortable revealing that to him. As it is, he is the only one who knows it. Your Forger told you in less than 24 hours. That's not enough to get a good read on someone, particularly someone who revels in unpredictability like you do. If you're telling the truth about this, I'd wager that your Forger is the eliminator. There's no other reason for someone to try to buddy-up with another person that fast.
  2. I have my reasons and while it started as gut at the beginning of the night turn, it solidified with more that I learned. I have fairly compelling evidence that I can trust Kipper, but it's not the kind of thing I'm going to put here. When this happened, he was the logical choice for me to go to since out of the people that I trust, he was the one who will actually discuss and try to work things out. Kas just tells me "No! Don't give me information! I don't need to know that!"
  3. It's not that no one would trust you. It's that people have no reason to trust pretty much anyone 24 hours into the first turn with PM communication. Roleclaiming to DC is one thing (though I think all the non-powered and any non-Hemalurgists who claimed to him made a mistake because he's going to subvert, and there's a chance he just did so all those identities will go to the eliminators). Roleclaiming to Adavantos is also one thing. He'd put himself in a position where if people felt they needed to roleclaim, he was the natural person to go to. You are not, Stink. Not because it's you, but because you didn't do anything particularly trustworthy on the first day to warrant people going to you. This is why I'm skeptical of someone having roleclaimed legitimately to you in the first 24 hours of the night.
  4. Emphasis mine. This was the first night. The kandra were doing their first scan, and the Surgebinder could not have possibly known the results of any of those scans. There is no one who the Surgebinder could absolutely know for a fact was good. It is impossible. Now at least one kandra knows the alignment of a player, so that's a possibility from this point forward. But for last night, it was not. If the Surgebinder is Loyal, they're playing around, making a joke. Not much more to it than that. I'm also going to vote for Stink. Was going to do that in my last post, but forgot. He asked me about my role at exactly 24 hours into the turn, which means that the Forger who he claims to be in contact with talked to him, and felt comfortable enough to share his role in less than 24 hours of talking. Probably with less than 12 hours of talking, since Stink is British, and there are only a few other British players, so the odds are high that his Forger contact is from a rather different timezone than him, and they had to work around that time difference. While it's possible that someone could've trusted Stink enough in that limited amount of communication to roleclaim an important role like that to him, I find it rather unlikely. I think it's far more likely that Stink is an eliminator and his contact is his teammate. Because I trust Kipper and someone needed to know. Also, in response to your comment about the kandra scanning during the day, they cannot. They can only scan at night:
  5. This: I'd re-read back through my PM to him and it was pretty clear. I already said, in this post here, that you didn't fully roleclaim. What you did do was ask me if I had a role, and when I said that everyone has a role, since even No Powers is a role, you asked me if I'd be okay losing my current role. That question strongly indicates that either you are a Forger or you know a Forger. Beyond that, I had multiple PMs with you after that where I made it clear that I assumed you were a Forger and you did not correct me. Now you're claiming that you're not. Okay. So you're in contact with a Forger? But you said later that someone had "finally" told you a role. This indicates that no one had roleclaimed to you previously. So you're not in contact with a Forger? Then why were you phishing for my role?
  6. Because it would've come out at some point during this discussion anyway since it's a critical point to why Maill told me his role and why I talked to Stink specifically. There was no point in beating around the bush if it's already going to get out. Best to deal with it all and discuss it as we can. I headed it off as best I could be saying that that was what Maill had claimed. I hinted that his claim might not have been entirely true. At that point in time, that was really the best I could do.
  7. All times in MST (GMT -0700) 11/6 - 2:01 PM: Creccio says he got a Hemalurgist claim. Thinks the claimant is sketchy because he threatened to kill Creccio to troll him. 11/6 - 4:00 PM: I tell Kipper about Creccio's claim. 11/6 - 4:36 PM: I ask Maill if he is a Hemalurgist. 11/7 - 3:01 AM: Maill says he is. 11/7 - 9:20 AM: I acknowledge Maill's claim and tell him I'll let the forger know. 11/7 - 11:14 AM: I tell Stink about Maill wanting to be forged. 11/7 - 12:13 PM: I tell Kipper what happened in my PM with Stink about Maill. My reasons to believe Maill had claimed to multiple people were because I knew he'd been in contact with many others and was sharing information. I at least suspected that his role had gotten out, since I knew Creccio was spreading it (if not the identity of the claimant himself). I would like to note that had Maill been a Surgebinder or had no powers, we wouldn't be having this discussion right now, because we wouldn't be surprised about his death. This is Maill. He has a habit of being targeted early. There's a chance that those involved in his role getting out are innocent and that the Traitors simply got absurdly good luck. There's also the chance that there's a traitor who knew who he was.
  8. Since I'm the one who told Kipper that, I'll answer that. Maill asked me if I had contact with a Forger. He wanted to be Forged into a role, since his role is more useful if he's forged as something else every once in a while. Stink had just recently indicated to me that he was a Forger (though he never fully roleclaimed that). I told Maill that I was, but because I wasn't sure what alignment he was, I asked if he was a Hemalurgist--since that made the most sense as a role that was more useful forged as something else every once in a while. So he can check if the HI has been subverted. He said yes. I told Stink what Maill had told me, but since it was about an hour until the rollover, I was giving him Maill's name as a suggestion for a future stamp rather than right then. Stink asked if Maill was a Hemalurgist and I said that that was what Maill had claimed, yes. And after that, he got very joyous, saying that no one else had claimed to him. When I mentioned that his joy was concerning, he said he'd tone it down, and that was even more disconcerting. And that's about the point I went to Kipper to tell him what had just happened.
  9. Who: Lady Tamsa Wilson and Lady Senna Queade What: Tamsa is accepting Lady Queade's marriage contract between Shan Queade and Whyan Wilson and Allera Wilson and Samden Queade Where: Luthadel When: Action 1 Why: To forge an alliance with House Queade and maintain the allomantic strength of both Houses Whyan Wilson is marrying into House Queade, to Shan. Samden Queade is marrying into House Wilson, to Allera.
  10. Incorrect. This predates Three Amigos by over 20 years. Also, there are 7 brigands.
  11. Three reasons: One, I was at work, and while I could refresh the page and see what was happening, I couldn't really stop what I was doing at the time to post, at least not anymore than a couple lines that wouldn't really have done anything to dissuade anyone. Two, calling for dissuasion could get an eliminator who would've voted to not vote. If I said anything, it would stop those votes, and we'd have less information than we would've otherwise. Three, it looked like it was going to be a tie, which I was fine with.
  12. Before I voted for Shallan, there had been all sorts of discussion around Adavantos and BB and the general consensus was that people didn't think either were traitors. I generally agreed with this. However, other players (namely Maill and Stink) seemed to be simply voting for BB solely to get someone lynched so we could learn something. I agree that the lynch gives us information, but when everyone is under the assumption that the person they're voting for is a villager and it is very likely that they are indeed a villager, how much information can you really gain? Most of the people voting for Bridge Boy were probably villagers themselves, and even throwing in the Adavantos voters, I doubt we've got more than 2 eliminators in that number. We were pretty keen to lynch someone and when the village is keen to lynch someone, the eliminators generally can stay out of it and just watch a lynch go down. The only reason they'd have to really get involved is if one of their own is on the line, but I don't think that was the case here. More on that in a bit. It seemed to me that the best solution was to find someone else for the lynch. I knew that Shallan had been on the forum but she hadn't posted until just then. Nor had she posted that she would be busy (at least, I don't recall any such post before the game began). Her post wasn't very helpful, so I placed my vote there and offered her as a potential substitute. When I did this, I didn't really expect it to work, but I figured I'd try it. It's hard to be certain if Kipper was honestly going to say exactly what I said, but I think he was. He doesn't really have much reason to lie about it, even if he's an eliminator, so I'm going to take him at his word. I think he saw what I did and there was no point in repeating it. Given how close he posted after me, that's believable. Bort is the one I'm interested in. He switched his vote about 10 minutes after Kipper and ties up the lynch. I'm also wondering if he might be the Feruchemist as well who switched the votes to ensure a lynch. This is, obviously, assuming that an eliminator got involved with the lynch votes themselves, beyond just the Feruchemist (since they well may have avoided the votes and relied upon their Feruchemist). Here's what I think: I don't think any of the lynch option were traitors. I know some people are suspicious of Adavantos but I'm not getting an evil vibe from him. Does that mean I really trust him? No. On a scale of 0-100 where 0 is the most suspicious and 100 is most trusted, most of the players are at 50 and Adavantos is at about 60. Maybe 65. As for BB, I've already said that his actions don't add up if he were an eliminator, but beyond that, the lynch was tied. If he was an eliminator, I would think that a tie would be the most ideal situation, because vote shenanigans just place suspicion on the person who had a vote taken from them. This indicates, at least to me, that the eliminators didn't care who died. They just wanted someone to die, and they could implicate the other lynch candidate even better by pulling a vote from him to place on the lynchee. Could this be wrong? Absolutely. I make mistakes, as is evidenced with the Shallan mislynch. I wish that the other voters had said more than just "I agree with Wilson" but there's not anything that can be done about that now--though I do wish that people wouldn't just follow me into votes without adding their own reasoning beyond just agreement with me. It doesn't have to be much, but just saying "I agree with Wilson" isn't really a reason to kill someone that I'm voting for, and to be honest, it's a little disturbing to vote for someone and then watch a bunch of people follow me onto that vote without any additional reasoning beyond my own. Thanks for the trust, I guess? But please, I'd prefer wariness, honestly. Anyway, Bort is my strongest suspect right now.
  13. Stink PMed me. And I received some glorious spam about stamina boosters during the night watch from some guy named Thoreaux. Sonder says he's working on the spam filter on the ship, but if anyone else gets spam don't reply. (Or do. Replying can be amusing too. ). While I generally agree with the whole "people without useful powers will be asking to be stamped" at the same time, we don't want the forger to randomly guess and stamp a BioChromancer, Elantrian, Kandra, or another Forger. And so long as everyone who doesn't have those roles doesn't come forward, there shouldn't really be any problem because the eliminators are still going to have to guess from a fairly wide range and there are certain rules that are going to be of higher priority than others. Also, how else can the Forger get information? We've already said don't roleclaim in PM's and we don't want the HI knowing everything so that pretty much just leaves the thread.
  14. Hey, now. I'm just as fallible as anyone else. And need I remind you that you voted for the same reasons as I did? I don't see why that means that I should be voted on, because it was perfectly valid and was actually true in your case in 15a. So I got it wrong here. That happens. I'm sorry. If you'd like to kill me, though, go for it. I'm willing to sacrifice myself for the village (and get myself one step closer to that Dodo Award ).
  15. It doesn't have to be between Bridge Boy and Adavantos. I rather think Adavantos is good, and I'm inclined to agree with whoever said that Bridge Boy wouldn't be making these mistakes if he were evil. He's been evil enough to know better. I would suggest the kandra scan both of them to make sure about their alignments. I'm going to vote for Shallan. Her post just now strikes me as off similarly to how Stink's from 15a struck me as off--it's saying stuff, but not really saying anything. It's mostly just repeating what's already been said, and while she gives ideas for what each role should do, it's basic stuff that the roles were probably already going to do. So even that isn't bringing anything new. That's the most obvious area for an eliminator to skate by in: posting a little bit and seeming to be contributing but not actually contributing anything. So my vote's there.
  16. I want to be clear that none of that post had anything to do with the current game. There was a reason I put the disclaimer of speaking as mod!Wilson rather than player!Wilson at the beginning. That post is from a mod. Not from a player. Were I the impartial mod for this game, I would've said the exact same thing. In regards to your comments about discussion. I didn't contribute to the discussion that had been taking place at that point in time because I'd already made my views on that known in 15a. I think the Hemalurgists and no other role should contact the HI. I know the game is slightly different about this, but my views are unchanged. My reasons: The eliminators likely still have a Forger. They did last time, and the role is nerfed so it's even more likely that they have one. What's to stop them from Forging the Hemalurgists to a different role to get the HI to subvert? So while the HI would like Elantrians to protect the Hemalurgists, if the Hemalurgist is forged into something else, that protection isn't going to stop that forgery. They'll still lose the Hemalurgist (albeit temporarily) and if that Hemalurgist is the last one, the HI will subvert and there's nothing that can be done about it. There are a lot of things that can be done that we cannot prevent without our own forgers forging those roles and hoping to win over the eliminator forger, while at the same time, not knowing who they're stamping and what role they're costing the village for 2 cycles. I'm not going to go into all the things the eliminators could do to make the HI subvert regardless of our preparations because this is the thread and I don't particularly like giving eliminators strategy ideas. Suffice it to say that I agree the Hemalurgists should contact the HI. No one else should. I also agree with Kas and everyone else who's been promoting role secrecy. I cannot even describe how many role reveals I tend to get in open communication games. Of course, I tend to also be one of the ones revealing, and while sometimes that's gone very well for me in the past, other times, it really hasn't. Unless you have a good reason to trust someone, you shouldn't be giving your role to them. And if you're wondering why I didn't say any of this yesterday, it's because I was kind of a bit busy yesterday, and I figured that, since my views were virtually the same, that there wasn't much point in parroting them. I guess I thought wrong. Also, I'm going to be busy most of the remainder of this week, but I'll try to keep up as much as I can and respond when I can. For all of you watching the lurkers, you'll see my name regularly, yes. That's because I keep a tab open on my work PC and regularly refresh when I've got a couple seconds of downtime while a page is loading for work. I also split screen my desktop so I can work/read the thread at the same time. Then there's the times when I check on my phone, but I don't like typing long posts on my phone, so I tend to avoid posting on my phone as well. Being able to read does not equate to being able to post. But I will post when I can (I also tend to make time to post when I'm specifically called out, so there's that too ).
  17. This is coming from mod!Wilson, not player!Wilson: While it's ideal for players to follow their current alignment/win conditions, we do not want to force players into playing a certain way. If someone would prefer to help out a team that is not their own, they have every right to make that decision, so long as the GM is okay with it. As an example, in LG4, I convinced Gamma to help out the Pahn Kahl at one point. Claincy, who was the GM that game, let Gamma make that choice because Claincy knew that Gamma helping us out wouldn't change anything considering how badly that night went for us. That night and the following day made it clear that the game was horribly broken (one of the most broken games played thus far) and the PK didn't have a chance of winning even with Gamma helping us out. Now, if by some miracle the PK had won, Gamma would've lost. He knew this. By helping us, he knew he was risking a loss. There were a number of people who were upset with him after the game, despite knowing that Claincy had cleared it. But really, what was Gamma supposed to do? Go to the thread and say "Hey guys, so Wilson Aspren, Tulir, and Elo are the last PK! Wilson outed herself to me and revealed her team, thinking I was going to help them. Ha! Joke's on her! Let's kill them! Woot!" ....because that would make for a fun game..... Not everyone plays the games in the competitive light of "winning is everything." Not everyone plays to win. That doesn't mean that they play to lose, but rather that they play to have fun. Sometimes, that might warrant a disregard of win condition, even with the knowledge that that means you yourself will lose. If the GM is alright with this, and it doesn't change the ultimate course of the game, then the player is free to do that. Now, if other players take issue with it, they can discuss it after the game with the impartial mod and the GM and file their complaints that way. You will be listened to and noted. The main thing here is that people play how they want to. Everyone plays differently. Trying to force players to play how you think they should play takes the fun out of it.
  18. Oh, I didn't mean to say that I think he would only do that from an eliminator perspective. He'd totally do it as a villager as well. But as he said, he'd do it regardless of alignment. To be completely honest, I think he's probably good. But then, I was leaning that direction in 15a, and.....he wasn't, so.... I'm not willing to write off my paranoia at this point. And I can be highly paranoid when it comes to Alv.
  19. That's not even a possibility. It's not about lynching the captain anymore. It's really a normal elimination game. Heck, if we wanted to, we could choose not to lynch anyone today, and even if the eliminators came in like last time and tried to hammer, they still wouldn't win. All they'd do is reveal themselves. Note that I do not condone the view of not lynching someone today. On the contrary, I think we should. Right now, I currently have my eye on both Bridge Boy and Alvron. Alv, because before the game started, he mentioned that he thought the old eliminators would be killed swiftly this game, and I can't help but wonder if his vote on the captain was to make people think he wasn't an eliminator because obviously he wouldn't cast a vote like that right off the bat if he were. And Bridge Boy because he said that Alv's vote heaps huge amounts of suspicion on him, when really it's just a bit. Seems like an over-exaggeration. Not necessarily one inherent to an eliminator, but it's still suspicious. That said, I'm going to refrain from voting right now simply because there's a lot of time left in the cycle and I don't particularly care to jump around with votes, nor do I wish to poke vote anyone. I just want discussion.
  20. I've actually been thinking about eliminator percentages a lot lately and balance of teams, because with the metagame shifting like it is, I think it makes sense to start getting really unpredictable eliminator teams. Like a team of all new/newer players. Or a team of mostly regulars (and dangerous regulars for that matter). The issue is balance. Most games with 25% eliminators end with the village losing--especially IRL. That doesn't mean it's not possible to make a team with 25% eliminators that gives the village an equal chance of winning against. Because it is. It just requires weakening the eliminator team a bit. Meaning player combinations that don't have a prior rapport, so that eliminator synergy doesn't click right off the bat. Less powerful roles, new players, etc. In this game, there could easily be a team of 8, but it would mostly consist of newer players (of which there are plenty). So while number-wise, it's a little frightening, balance-wise, it's not so bad. On the flip-side of this, if you can get a balanced team with 25%, you can get a balanced team with under 20%. Like, for example, I would love to see a game with about 28 players and an eliminator team of me, Alv, Wyrm, Kas, and Hael. So about 17-18%. All of us have a high treat level, so at the very least we can hold our own on a team. Most of us have worked together in the past somehow and all of have a certain rapport. The synergy would be deadly and I'd be fascinated to see what types of shenanigans would happen. It would be wicked. There are other similarly wicked eliminator teams that I could list, for either the less-than-20% side of things or the 25% side of things, or anything in between. The main consideration is balance since you can't just throw anyone on a 25% eliminator team and call it good.
  21. Isn't it Astana?
