  1. I completely agree with @Erunion. The Electoral College is a good idea. I'm in full support of keeping the EC (though I want to comment that the United States is not a democracy. It's a democratic republic. Democracy is very much about majority rule, and therefore, the EC doesn't work with a democracy. Popular vote would be what a democracy would actually use. But as people already stated, popular vote would mean that a few areas (like California and New York) would rule over everyone else). The problem is First Past the Post. FPTP is a terrible way of divvying it out. Care to know why? Let me demonstrate. For this example, we will use Florida's election results: Let's say that every single person who voted third party would prefer Clinton to Trump, but they don't really like Clinton, either, so they voted third party. (Please note that I am not saying that voting third party is a wasted vote or that voting third party means that they voted for Trump or anything of that ridiculous nature.) In FPTP, their preference doesn't matter. All that matters is the one single vote they placed on the one single candidate they could vote for. So because Trump took a higher percentage of the population than Clinton did, Trump wins all 29 electoral votes. But in STV (single transferable vote), all of those voters would be able to rank their choices, and as their preferred candidate loses, their vote can at least go somewhere else that is working against their least preferred option. In this case, Trump. In STV, the 3.2% of the vote that voted third party eventually ends up on Clinton, bumping her over 50%, and she takes the state. Why should the state go to Trump when over 50% of the state didn't actually want him? Just because they split their vote out among other candidates doesn't change the fact that they still don't want him as president, and they would prefer any other candidate on the field to him. Heck, get enough of a split with third parties, and you could have someone win a state with less that 30 or 40% of the vote. As it is, this election, Trump had a higher percentage of votes in New Hampshire, a state he lost, than he did in Utah, a state he won. 47.2% of the population in NH voted for Trump while only 45.9% of Utah voted for him. Yet he won in Utah because he had the highest percentage. Even though over half the state really didn't want him. And trust me, they really didn't want him. Utah is historically the reddest state in the nation. If Utahns had wanted a President Trump, he would've taken far more than 45.9% of the vote. But he didn't, because that's how much Utahns didn't want to vote for him. Don't believe me? Here's the margin shift from the 2012 election to this one (NY Times): Ignore the red shift back east and look at that blue shift from within Utah (and eastern Idaho, for that matter). The areas with the largest shift are those with the highest concentration of LDS voters. But LDS people are historically very conservative and therefore vote red. But that's not what happened this election, and it wasn't entirely because of McMullin, though he had a large hand in it (since I'm pretty sure most of the LDS population breathed a sigh of relief when he entered and they could vote with their conscience). It was because they really, really didn't want a person who discriminates and persecutes based on religion as the president of the country. LDS people know all about persecution (read up on the Mormon Extermination Order, which is every bit as bad as it sounds), and they don't really like to support people who will persecute others for similar reasons, regardless of religion. So no, Utah didn't want Trump. But he still won the state. I don't support a switch to the popular vote, because I completely understand what the electoral college is for. I find it ironic that so many people who are supposedly all for inclusivity and listening to the minorities are now the very people trying to get rid of the electoral college, which is there to make sure minorities have their voices heard and prevent majority rule. I don't mind if the electorates are split up on proportional basis either--though I think I would prefer if they were still allotted in a bulk sum. What I do care about is that the candidate who wins a state was the candidate that the majority of that state wanted/supported. Meaning that they had over 50% of the vote. Because if it's less than 50%, you have no idea what those who voted third party would prefer in FPTP, and their votes and their opinions matter as well. And don't say that they shouldn't be voting third party then, because that's not a solution. The two party system is screwed up beyond belief and is a major contributing factor to how much hate there is based on ideological differences. You get two people of differing political opinions together, and they're highly unlikely to talk civilly to each other. Worse, if you apply for a job and the hiring agent is of a differing political party than you and they know yours, that hiring agent (regardless of party) is more likely to discriminate and chose someone of their own political party. Just because of politics. The only way to fix that is to get other ideologies involved. And that's through third parties. You can't get third parties elected if you're not going to vote for them, so no: a third party vote is not a wasted vote. We just need to put a system in place that allows third party voters to rank the candidates so they can continue to vote third party and not have to worry about someone they hate getting elected when they could've prevented it. Or for people who would prefer to vote third party but feel they can't right now to be able to do so and not feel like they're just throwing away their vote. FPTP is outdated and terrible. But as Kaymyth already mentioned (in a different thread), a change in the voting process isn't going to happen until we get more third parties into Congress, which means getting more states to switch to a preferential voting system on the downticket. FPTP is in the Constitution and it would take an Amendment to change to something far more practical, and an Amendment like that is never going to pass Congress right now. It might pass a vote by the people. But not Congress. For the same reason term limits will also never pass in Congress, even though I'm nearly certain most people in the country would prefer term limits on Congressmen. But that's another can of worms.
  2. @Zathoth The Nexus phones are really good. The only problem I have with them is internal memory. There's no micro SD slot, so you're stuck with just what comes on the phone. Fortunately, there's the cloud, but for everything that's on the cloud, those apps (Google Photos, Google Drive, etc) get bigger and take up more space. So...yeah. But the phones themselves are really nice. I've had both the 5 and its upgrade, the 5x. I only had 16gb of space on the Nexus 5, and that started having issues toward the end of its life (though I'm not sure if that was because of lack of space or the fact that I dropped it on the pavement, cracked the screen pretty bad, and then dealt with that for about 4 months, until its malfunctioning just got to be too much >>). When I got the 5x, I made sure to get the 32gb version, and that's worked great. Another small problem with the Nexus line is that....well. Google isn't sure they're going to continue the line, apparently. They've got a new smartphone line--Pixel--and they might just focus solely on that. @Chaos Do you have thoughts about the Google Pixel phones? Are they comparable to the Nexus line? (Chaos is my go-to person for smartphone recommendations, by the way. He knows good phones. ).
  3. Khaos has no intention of following any plan whatsoever. She follows only khaos.....er....chaos. Chaos is a grand Master.
  4. Khaos will be entering the House. She's always been fascinated by claims of haunted houses, ghosts, and everything supernatural. She also doesn't like to be told what to do. She will be doing her own thing, talking to whomever she likes, saying whatever she likes, and exploring wherever she likes, whenever she likes. She also welcomes anyone who wishes to do the same.
  5. Even some of the people who did sign up for it weren't actually able to get anything for it. In Gen 5, the last gen I did the stewardship, I was looking at all the heirs I was supposed to find matches for going "sdajfkgjaeij i have 8 males including my two heirs and only 3 females how is this supposed to work o.O" and everyone else was either inactive or didn't care about PC marriages. I was not happy. Wyrm got Words from me about that. >> Though it actually balanced out well in the end, so nice job on that front, Wyrm. Total's 114 females to 115 males.
  6. Huh. I figured you wouldn't been told something about it, but it was a super stealth mission. It was only Elerek and two of his Mistborn breaking in. What was everyone's AS at the end? Mine was at 4000 and I'm pretty sure I was one of the highest. I think.
  7. Do not post after you die. If you have something you'd like to say to the thread and you are dead, really to both the GM and the impartial moderator and they will decide if you can post. But the dead do not talk in the thread, so do not post. Thank you.
  8. Well, there was the tip in the writeup about a spy, but I didn't take that seriously. See, we invited you in because my spy network had caught a couple of interesting pieces of information about you: a guarded encampment north of Luthadel, a defection, and one of your public actions on the spreadsheet was setting the skaa against the Steel Ministry. We assumed that you were working against TLR and we decided to invite you in to help because we figured your atium stockpiles (which I knew about) would help and a fourth person couldn't hurt. Plus, we didn't want your plans going against our plans and everything falling apart for everyone. In retrospect, it's painfully obvious what you were actually doing. Even after you joined, I was getting info on you (not intentionally; the spy I had in Elariel just kept finding things and I kept forgetting to pull him out of an ally's House). I saw skaa transport by House Queade (which, now that I'm thinking about that, Queade was over the prisons), activity around the Mines, more atium stockpiling, and even more atium stockpiling. The real kicker though? You requesting an audience with TLR. Yes, I saw that too. But I just assumed you were doing that to help us. *facepalm* Fortunately, as you said, it didn't stop the revolution from happening. Likely only because of how much time we'd already spent on it. I'd invested a bunch of time into reputation, particularly with the Steel Ministry, but a bit with the Inquisition and TLR as well (though the Ministry was by far the easiest to gather rep with) and Aonar had spent generations working on the explosives. Plus what Orlok was doing with the skaa. We started formulating the ideas of revolution or changing history just after Bands released in January, because I'd met Maill and Deathclutch at the release and we were talking about the game. DC had kidnapped Venture's heir as Winter left the game, to help his house's allomancy, and he was using cocaine to drug Vinid's army. Now, I'd already known from other conversations both I and Orlok had had with Wyrm that Wyrm really kind of wanted the history to change. He didn't really want it running exactly like it had in the book. So we thought, well, let's do something about that. DC found cocaine, so I wonder what we can do. We narrowed things down to either going after technology or trying to find Feruchemy, and ultimately decided on technology because we wanted gunpowder. Which we didn't get, but through Aonar's researching trying to find gunpowder, he found the explosives instead. So...yeah. This revolution was about 9 months in the making. And the reason the doc went silent wasn't because we didn't trust you. We just were all on Facebook, and had a conversation there and were using that instead of the doc. Also, in case anyone is curious, Maill talked to me after he left the game and admitted that just about any attack on any House that was unclaimed was him. Urbain's winery going up in flames? Zerrung. He said that the Urbain attack was just a test. He wanted to know if it was possible to get in, get out, and not leave any trace. And it was. Using kandra. When Urbain and friends investigated, the trail led to the body of a skaa who had died weeks before the attack and that's where it went cold. Zerrung also tried to kidnap my heir (who was too well-guarded though a Mistborn got injured), and he stole atium from Izenry as Izenry was out stealing atium from Erikell for Zerrung (as in, Zerrung hired Izenry to steal Erikell's atium, and then Zerrung stole Izenry's atium while Izenry was doing the job). And Araris, question: were you told about someone breaking into your archives late one night, but sneaking out before they could be caught? Because if so, that was me. I was researching early history about TLR hoping to find allusions to pre-Ascension weaponry and stuff. That wasn't completely successful, though I'd found a teaser for something intriguing but I wasn't able to follow up on it because that was the same turn my army started having disciplinary problems and then they started defecting. Cocaine in the food and/or water supply of an army is not something I would recommend. I was worried it was going to end with my head in a basket because I couldn't control TLR's army (it's a good thing Jormundgand left the game, because we would've destroyed him instead of going after TLR....I was really not happy with him drugging my army knowing that I would know that he was drugging my army). >>
  9. Wait, wait. That trolling got you worried about a House War so you withdrew everything and went away from Luthadel? o.O I....almost feel bad about that. Almost. Also, Araris, you can blame/thank Orlok for that. He was making I think 80+ wealth every turn and basically bought off the rebellion. So there was never really any chance of them attacking me since he had a pretty good hold on them. Fortunately. All of my MP was out in the outer dominances. Mine and TLR's (which I think the total of both of those was something like 230 or so).
  10. Heh. Speaking of, Unodus. Uh. I have a story for you. In Generation 4, I decided to purge my house of spies. In this purge, I found one spy, and Wyrm asked me what I wanted to do with him. I ultimately decided to let the spy think that he hadn't been found, and start feeding false information through him, as just an addendum to my actions each turn, so it doesn't even have an action cost (which was beautiful). However, there was one problem with this: I didn't know what House the spy worked for. To discover this, I decide to feed the spy false info about an attack I was planning on House Heron, posing as Izenry troops. Obviously, I was in contact with Izenry, so if Izenry got a tip about it, he'd let me know who it came from, and I had also been in close contact with Heron. I let Heron know what I was doing in case the tip came to him. Farrsolin contacted Heron almost immediately the following Turn after the information was relayed, warning him of an impending attack. Heron tells me about this, so I am convinced that Farrsolin is responsible for the spy. I decide to troll him. This is what I sent to Wyrm: I think I'm hilarious and Farrsolin will be completely confused about why he's doing something he had no idea that he's doing. I know it'll blow my whole cover with the spy, but I'm simply out to troll Farrsolin so I don't really care. Heron is promptly contacted by Uethorn, who begs Heron to tell him who Heron is in contact with, because he's been outmaneuvered by someone, but doesn't know who. Heron and I have a feeling it has something to do with the spy, but we don't know how. Heron continues talking to Uethorn. Eventually, he learns that the spy is Uethorn's, and that Uethorn had used Farrsolin as a proxy to protect his identity, and now is convinced that Farrsolin has betrayed him and is aiding in this attack. Kas and I are dying at this new, very important bit of information. There I went, trying to troll Farrsolin, and I ended up trolling Uethorn even harder. It could not have worked out better. I decide to continue the charade, keeping the troll going, because why not? My next information drop: What was left unsaid: I'm arming them with love (Kas' idea). Yes, at this point, Kas and I are both in full-out troll mode. We'd even talked about me faking an attack on him, so it looked like he'd been attacked to everyone else, but he hadn't actually been attacked. We had Plans. Unfortunately, I then had some finance issues with my wealth spring up and by the time I got those somewhat sorted, Heron left the game. But it was great fun while it lasted.
  11. That was amazing, Wyrm. This has been a way fun game to play. I suppose I might as well reveal the Revolutionaries docs. We talked a lot, though not nearly as much in the last few generations as the first 6/7. Generation 7 was collectively the Gen that a lot of our docs and our spreadsheet fell out of date. Same with the genealogy tree thing that Comatose and I were working on in Family Echo (which I'd share, but....it's not really something you can mass-share all that well). Everything just stopped getting updated sometime between Generations 6 and 7, unfortunately. But they were nice while they lasted. Wilson/Tekiel/Izenry's Heirs Action and Genealogy Spreadsheet (complete with map and finances stuff (that isn't very complete....)) Wilson-Tekiel Alliance Doc (very early game) Wilson-Izenry-Tekiel Alliance, Gen 1-3 Wilson-Izenry-Tekiel Alliance, Gen 4-6 (eventually added Heatherlocke for a time, and became the WHIT alliance rather than the WIT alliance) WIT Alliance Current Discussion WIT/WHIT Alliance Questions and CP'ed PMs and Stuff WIT/WHIT Random Discussion Other interesting docs: The End of an Empire (Wilson, Tekiel, Izenry, and Elarial) Wilson-Zerrung The Impending Destruction of Vinid & Erikell (with Houses Wilson, Tekiel, Izenry, Zerrung, and Jormundgand) The Wilson-Heatherlocke Diplomatic Channel The Security Coalition (early game, with Wilson, Izenry, Artorius, Queade, and Zerrung) Yeah....So total word count of the WIT alliance and the docs regarding the WIT alliance comes out to just under 250k words. Total count of all of my docs (with players) is about 344k. Wow. BTW, I would not really suggest people read most of those docs. I mean, the WIT docs are almost exclusively game-related, since all the non-game-related stuff ended up in the Random Discussion doc, but....unless you want to read over 200k strategy and stuff, I wouldn't recommend it. The first doc for gens 1-3 is over 100k just by itself. It's kind of insane. I suppose reading the first part of that doc to get an idea of our alliance and then the current doc and the End of an Empire doc would probably be the best if you're actually interested in reading anything. That total's only about 20k. Which is much more reasonable. >> Anyway. Yeah. This game was really fun, and I'm sorry I didn't RP as much towards the end, Wyrm. RL was busy, plus it's a little hard to RP when you're planning a revolution and can't give that away. But I loved it. It was great.
  12. Dellan,Who do these fools think they are? I’ve enclosed copies of their missives within, but the gist of it appears to be that both Uethorn and Penrod are throwing in their support with the Lord Ruler. While Uethorn does have some military clout to speak of, Penrod does not to my knowledge, and neither have anything like our combined might. Do they not realize that this is their one opportunity to get out from our “God’s” control? Are they too blind to see that even before the help of the Inquisition and the minor houses, they are outnumbered and outclassed? Even if their contributions ensure the Lord Ruler’s survival, they will be extinguished in the attempt. And Uethorn! I thought my father was arrogant, but attempting to foil generations worth of toil and research in but a few days? They will be lucky to understand the slightest part of our designs by the end of it. Nonetheless, if by some miracle they come forward with a working prototype, it will be modelled off of less potent, less reliable, less volatile designs, and likely prove useless in actual combat. While admittedly I did not tell them I was giving them inferior specifications, they cannot be so trusting as to assume I did not hold anything back. If by wild chance they succeed, do they think the Lord Ruler will reward them? Why would he? They saw him brought low; they received copies of the very weapons that put him in that state. He will wipe the slate clean. Exterminate the Nobility in Luthadel, and rebuild with those from the outer Dominances, who would have heard only rumours of the coup, and have no idea how close it came to success. My plans are unchanged. I hope that those of our allies remain so as well.~Aurum Dellan Wilson stared at the note from Aurum, momentarily worried. He read through the missives from Penrod and Uethron, and then he chuckled. The chuckle turned into laughter--great heaves of it--and he put his hand on his desk to support him. “My Lord?” Hadal asked, concerned. Dellan didn’t answer the man, just held out the two short missives to him and continued to laugh. Hadal cocked an eyebrow. “I….fail to see what is so funny about this, sir. They create a problem.” Dellan straightened, taking a breath and steadying himself. “Not a very big one. I commend their loyalty, but one must know when a ship is salvageable and when one should bail from it, lest they drown as it goes down. The Final Empire is taking its last breath, and they wish to take their last breaths along with it.” He shook his head and turned to the window, looking out over Luthadel. Flaring Tin, he could hear shouts in the distance as skaa around the city organized themselves for the assault. Nothing could stop it now. Soon, this would all be theirs. “It’s beautiful, isn’t it?” he asked Hadal. “What, sir?” “Watching an Empire fall.” Hadal joined him at the window. “Are we sure it’s going to work?” “Izenry was contacted by an Inquisitor. Our false God has no more healing left and we have the Inquisition’s support in the assault. Yes, I would say it’s rather certain that the Empire will fall.” The four of them--Wilson, Izenry, Tekiel, and Elarial--had worked together for over a hundred years, setting the wheels in motion for this. Dellan’s brother had been given to the Inquisition in hopes that he could help the coup, and Dellan himself had done all he could to make sure the Ministry was aligned with them, at least until the Lord Ruler was dead. Tekiel, Izenry, and Elarial had forces all over the city, ready to take it. The Skaa Rebellion was in Tekiel's pocket. The Lord Ruler's army was in Dellan's. Not to mention that he’d sent them and his own troops to the outer dominances to quell any rebellions that might arise among the nobility in the power transfer. It was a great time to live, Dellan thought. The ‘Final’ Empire would fall. And the false god would die. He glanced at Hadal. “Send a runner to Radyn and the other Inquisitors and another runner to the Ministry. I want to ensure their support under the oligarchy.” Hadal nodded and walked out of the study, Dellan still staring out the window. He chuckled again, thinking of Uethorn and Penrod’s missives. “Fools,” he sighed. He didn’t want to have to destroy the two Great Houses, but if they wanted to fight, so be it. To the mists they would go. To the mists they all would go, eventually. But not Dellan. Not his friends. Not yet, anyway. Change was coming. Hope. He smiled.
  13. Yeah, I kinda figured that was the case. I just kind of hoped that maybe it would be possible (particularly since it worked fine before the update). But, yeah. Totally understand if it's not really possible.
  14. While I could just text you about this, Eric, I know a few people have had different questions about PM features and how they've changed since the update, so I figured a topic on the subject would be good. I use PMs a lot; I have 29 different folders (not counting the inbox and other default folders); and the average for these folders is 32 PMs (the lowest has 1 and the highest has 210 (SE games can get....messy...at times)). Two of the biggest things I've noticed in the last 4-5 months: 1. It's not possible to mass select PMs in your inbox and move to a new folder. You have to open each PM separately and move it into a different folder. Then, you're redirected to the new folder, where you have to navigate back to the inbox to open a new PM and move it into a different folder. Would it be possible to mass select and move from the main inbox page? That was a feature with the old platform and I would love it if it were possible here. Really truly. I'm fine with the redirect to the new folder, but it's a hassle when it happens for every PM and you're moving 30 from your inbox to the same folder (which has happened, unfortunately, and will likely happen again in the near future). >> 2. Not counting the inbox, folders only show the first 25 messages in that folder. Now, like I said, I have an average of 32 messages per folder (and most of these folders are things like "SE - LG20", "SE - MR6", etc, so they're already broken down by individual game, which doesn't leave much room to break them down further), so only being able to see the first 25 messages means that any later messages can't be seen in the folder. The only way they can be found is using the search feature. But even that's not a sure thing. I've got a few messages that I know are very, very deep down in the folder with 210 messages in it (which is for a single game), and I know who the users are in those PMs, and I also know what was said in them. But I can't find them, because I can't search by user, and when I search by content, there are too many other PMs that have similar content that appear earlier in the folder, and the search results don't bring up everything. They only give out up to a certain number. Would it be possible to fix this so all the messages in a folder show up? Or make it so you can search by user? Or both? Both would be great too. I have some other minor nitpicks as well, but they're more aesthetic/organizational things, like perhaps nesting folders or re-ordering. They're not necessary at all even if they would nice. The two above are definitely more of an issue and would be delightful to get fixed. I know a lot of people probably don't use PMs a whole lot, but for those of us who do (mostly SE-ers, but I'm positive there are others as well), it would be really nice to have a little bit more functionality with the inbox, if possible. But I know it's rather dependent on what the platform lets you get away with so if some of this isn't possible, I'll just have to find other ways to do it. Like....creating new folders, breaking some of the games down even more and then moving the PMs to those folders....one...by...one.... My fingers are crossed that I won't have to resort to such drastic and potentially insanity-inducing measures.
  15. Yeah, Republic of Ireland counties wouldn't count. The only counties in Ireland that would count would be the ones in Northern Ireland rather than the Republic of Ireland.
  16. Well, it's been a few days and no one's tried to answer so here's an answer: Michael Westen, Fiona Glennann, Sam Axe, Jesse, Maddie Westen, Nate Westen, Agent Pearce New question. WLIU, name 15 currently recognized counties in the United Kingdom. These can be counties in England or Northern Ireland, preserved counties in Wales, local government councils in Wales, shires in Scotland, or local councils in Scotland. (There are over 130 so this shouldn't be too terrible, especially not for anyone who lives in the UK or is even remotely familiar with the UK. I'm American and I can name almost all of them, so this should be fine. I hope).
  17. Correct. Sart was killed by Piff, who then died in the roof collapse, and Bort was killed in another room.
  18. The Wee Free Men, A Hat Full of Sky, I Shall Wear Midnight, and Wintersmith WLIU, name 7 characters who have been in more than one episode of Burn Notice.
  19. Action 1: using my house's army and TLR's army to put down some skaa uprisings in some of the outer dominances.
  20. @Dankness Ascendant Can we get an answer to this and a new question? It's been over a week and no one's even attempted it.
  21. I would view Twei's roof collapse as being on par with the Jeskeri kill, actually. Of the same type, rather than indirect. See, in LG 11, everyone was Twinborn. Twei had been charging a metalmind, and she happened to have a Feruchemic power that clearly stated in the rules that if you got 16 charges and you were in the rafters of a room, you could collapse the roof and that would be an attack to every player in that room. So that's what she did. The Jeskeri used their own rules to redirect people, target one of their own in protection, and kill everyone who had targeted him. Both used rules that were in the game from the start (though the Jeskeri rules were secret to everyone but the Jeskeri). QF 14, on the other hand, had a secret mechanic that created a Serial Killer who was supposed to act like a normal SK and target actual players in the game. Instead, he targeted constables (who were really only targetable for the secret mechanic). A decision was made mid-game to make it so if all the Constables died, the people rioted and killed all the politicians. But even that decision was also kept secret. I'd say that QF 14 could be considered a "special mention" of most kills, but since the mechanics that made it happen were entirely secret or created mid-game, it shouldn't be the actual award. That should go for games that have mass killing possibilities built in right from the start using known mechanics that, preferably, the GM doesn't help the players realize are there and can be used for mass killing purposes (because otherwise, a mass kill is kind of cheap since the GM helped you towards it).
  22. 4, actually, in LG24. Me, Mage, Jaime, and Elodin all targeted Aman and died. Araris was killed by Burnt and you were killed by Stink. So 6 deaths, but only 4 were caused by Jeskeri. EDIT: And I've just checked the spreadsheet for LG11, and Twei only killed 3 people. One person was in the room, but was killed the action period previous to the room collapse, and one other (besides Twei herself) took damage but didn't die. So only 3 people died in the room collapse. So LG11 is tied with LG12's Night 12, which caused 3 deaths from one kill action (Burnt, killing me). And Kipper's attack in LG24 is therefore in the lead.
  23. First, I want to thank Nyali and El for such a great game. I've already mentioned this to Nyali privately, but I think the game has some amazing potential, despite having breaks. Games this massive are going to have breaks somewhere the first time they're run. I think all of the different win cons for every person is a great idea, and it worked well. It made for a fun game. Yes, I had fun. It's true that for half a turn there that I wasn't having fun. That shifted once I got away from the bulk of the Children and around other independents, with all of us working together to help each other towards our goals. That made the game fun, because that's essentially what I'd envisioned this game would be, particularly after learning my role/alignment. I literally could not have won the game without Clanky and Mint, so thank you both so much, and I'm really sorry that neither of you won as well, especially with Mint being so close. I was hoping that Assist for the fourth action would help you out, and I'm sad that it didn't in the end. I'd like apologize to Nyali. I should've phrased those comments about the game better, because my intent was not to bring the GM down or make you want to stop running the game--I was genuinely interested in seeing how it played it out. My intent was to cast light on the difference between a game going so well for a person because they're doing a good job and a game going so well for a person because the breaks are in their favor. And that didn't come across as well as it should've. So I owe you a massive apology. Thank you for not calling it. And this brings me to my last comment. I will be taking a prolonged break from playing SE. I've been stressed about a number of RL things for over a year (will be a year and a half in about two months), and the effects of that prolonged stress are having a serious impact on my patience, which was made evident to me in the course of this game. While I don't regret much of what I said this game, I do regret how I said a fair bit of it. I do genuinely believe that competition at the cost of fun is damaging to the games and that everyone should be cognizant of the other players in the game, regardless of your own personal alignment or theirs. We're not Town of Salem, Mafia Universe, or any number of other mafia forums. What sets us apart is that the 17th Shard members genuinely care about the other members of the forum, and I think that should be reflected in our mafia games. Pure competition doesn't allow for that. But I didn't make that point well during the game, because I was being too reactive to various things (the marionette comment, being silenced for 96 hours, being called a liar for speaking truth, etc). The games are too competitive right now and therefore add an unnecessary amount of stress that pushes me over the edge. Thus, it's best if I'm sidelined until the RL stuff is resolved. Also, one more thing I want to note: when it comes to manipulating people in the games, you should probably leave it to the player rather than the person. There's a difference between manipulating someone because you're evil and you're trying to get them to do something that helps you and your team, and manipulating someone in a way that you know will make them upset--and that's your goal: to direct that fury at an enemy. If you want to manipulate me as a player in a game, go for it, but manipulating me as a person is more than a little disrespectful. That behavior in anything outside of a game is called flaming, and there's a reason it tends to make things heated. Because that's its purpose. Let's keep it out of the games, please.
  24. I only know of two: Wonko and Araris, though I will hopefully have mine all complete by night's end and I know of a few other Independents who could have theirs complete tonight as well. Regardless, tonight is the last turn, since Ecth was the last GOH, so the Children's win con is complete.
  25. I needed one of either Vasher or Denth to die. It was a Love and Loss win con. Choose my brother who was avenging my death or my husband who killed me but was trying to make up for all of that. I chose the husband. I'm a romantic at heart.
