  1. I would argue that this would be better suited for a Spy. You could infiltrate any group to gather intelligence or get people to do things that you want them to do. Which leads me to speculate that...Hoid is a Duralumin Ferring! He's really good at getting people across the Cosmere to trust him and give him information so that he can be Super-Hoid. Another round of speculation:
  2. I can't wait for so many of these! Can't they be finished by about, yesterday?!?! Anyways, I'm really looking forward to the White Sand graphic novels. Do we know who's doing the art for these? Has anybody seen sample art for them yet? If the Shardhunt ever gets finished, I would prefer seeing artwork examples from White Sand before getting AoL annotations2.0! (But don't get me wrong, I want the AoL annotations2.0 too.)
  3. When you decide it's finally time to get rid of your hipster mountain-man beard, but in the process yell "I feel like a true alil'tiki'i again!" because you decide to first mimic Rock's facial hair before shaving it all off.
  4. Welcome to the 17th Shard! I love your drawings. Looks good. Can I make a request for your version of Sazed?! Or possibly Wit? *EDIT: It would help if I spell spoiler correct
  5. Raoden walks into a bar, and the bartender asks him what he wants. Raoden simply draws the Aon Rao in front of him. The impatient bartender looks up, scoffs, and says "Don't get cute with me buddy. I'm no priest, I'm a bartender. I only serve spirits here."
  6. When you're secretly pretending that there could be Parshendi on the other side of every overpass bridge you take when riding the 4 bus to work.
  7. He is Vasher. Ahhh the inter-connected universe that we know of as the Cosmere! On a side note, guys, maybe this topic should be moved away from the "Introduce Yourself" thread? Too spoilery, and talking quite a bit about things that maybe some new members haven't thought about or read yet!
  8. Moash, Mraize, and Thaidakar would be part of the reddit r/conspiracytheory page, but would all take part in their own sub-reddits for either The Diagram or Ghostbloods. (EDIT: Whoops...I didn't pay any attention to the fact that this was Stormlight Archive characters only. I see I didn't include a single one in my post other than Zahel. Meh. To make up for it, I've added a few minor characters from Stormlight Archive. Sorry if I spoiled anything for anyone.)
  9. When, as a 30-year old adult, you tell your mother that she has to read Sanderson's novels, and instead of waiting patiently for her to take her time to get to the library, you just order her the entire Mistborn trilogy via Amazon Prime and tell her to have them finished before the end of the year so that we can theorize about Allomancy/Hemalurgy/Feruchemy at Christmas. (And she only got them all in the mail last week. She'll finish them, though. She loves reading fantasy...now if only I could get her to join the 17th Shard as well.)
  10. Hahaha. I should, but I want to make sure it's well researched; currently I don't have a copy of Warbreaker (I used a library book to read it back in September), and given my personality, I need to document my reasoning by quoting the source, etc. Maybe, while I'm waiting for my copy from Brandon, I'll get one of the library copies again...
  11. I'm glad that he seems to answer questions in personalized books: I just ordered Warbreaker today and asked a question that may help lead us to who the Worldhopper is on Nalthis, assuming my theory is correct. Depending upon his potential answer, I may publish my theory on the 17th Shard!
  12. After much consideration, I'd go with Oracle. Seeing my immediate future would be rather useful if I were on, say, Patji, where everything wants to kill me. I wouldn't need an Aviar like Sak, which would imply that a bird wouldn't occasionally poop on my shoulder which would further imply that I don't need to clean my shirt/jacket more frequently than I already do. I mean, who likes doing more laundry than the average misting? How about real-life attributes of being an Oracle? It'd be really helpful in a crowded place where you see future you getting pick-pocketed. Just avoid that person/path. Voila! Your phone and wallet are still yours! Another useful attribute to being an Oracle: gambling. Do I go all-in on a certain poker hand? Future self reveals an excited me, so YES! Future self reveals a dejected me, so NO! Same thing applies to slot machines. Just walk past each machine until you find future you getting really excited after just one pull!
  13. Bavadin walked into a bar and ordered one of everything. Why? We're not sure; nobody knows his Intent.
  14. What was the first flying machine traded for by the Northern Interests Trading Company once the people from the First of the Sun became sophisticated enough for trade in the minds of the Ones Above? An A-Patji attack copter.
  15. Pulls out my six-shooter....BANG! I win this duel! But if I had to Awaken something: I'd Awaken homebrew equipment after I've thoroughly cleaned it once with the command "Remain sterilized"...and I'll never drink an infected homebrew again!
  16. While this is very true, the same thing happened to me last month when I put White Sand on my Kindle: the Kindle read the title as "Dragon Steel". I was thoroughly confused, and was secretly hoping that maybe my Kindle had been invested with some unknown Cosmere power that actually changes uploaded "personal" documents to books that I WISH I could read. Instead my Kindle did a half-arsed approach to Lightweaving, and couldn't finish the illusion beyond the title. Nonetheless, I was pleasantly pleased with White Sand as an unpolished novel and as a contribution to the literature of the Cosmere!
  17. Hi RaderJR. Welcome! Watch out for spiked baked goods around here What's your favorite book by Bradon, and why?
  18. That makes total sense. Thanks, Rubix!
  19. Currently on EBay are vials of Bendalloy with a wicked cool cork. All the Mistborn fans would totally buy this. And the best thing: we can buy it now for less than $5. I could easily see this sold for about $10 or so. It also looks like the seller has other metals and alloys in vials that they sell. http://m.ebay.com/itm/141428318001?nav=SEARCH
  20. Up Vote for the thanks! I always appreciate courtesy.
  21. I couldn't agree with Peter and kari-no-sugata more. Cowboy Bebop is great and self-contained, but there is no major overarching storyline. I am fond of the ending, however, and it makes me think of Firefly (one of the best live-action shows ever!) I also have to say that I love the OP's choice of Mushishi. What a beautiful anime.
  22. As a note, Brandon will probably only be there Oct. 11th, and not the entire time. If I weren't out of the country then, I would totally try to be up in NYC for this! Have fun, whoever can go!
  23. Mizerab1e, have you had a chance to read any of the other Sanderson books? I couldn't put down the Mistborn series when I first read it. Granted, there aren't any swords, because the magic system would abuse that (but people do have dueling canes!). If you want a Brandon book with an interesting sword, try Warbreaker. If you're looking for a good fantasy Sword series, try the aptly named The Book of Swords series by Fred Saberhagen (he even has a sword in his name!). I haven't personally read this series, but I've heard great things about it. Brandon even mentions it in a Warbreaker annotation. On a completely different form of fantasy, try the dystopian fantasy Wool Omnibus by Hugh Howey. That entire series was amazing to me because the concept and characters were well executed.
  24. manure and clovers.
  25. Since, as Argent so nicely put it, you have such power...can we, the Shard, lobby for weekly Newsletters with these treats? I mean, we don't have to be terribly greedy. The treats don't have to always be Stormlight 3 chapters (though that would be nice!). Here are some alternatives that I'm sure the 17th community would be okay with: 1) Chapters from Shadows of Self 2) 6 NEW Shardhunt codes so that we can finally unlock the Alloy of Law Annotations 2 3) Or you could just release the Alloy of Law Annotation 2 reward sans the 6 remaining codes 4) Artwork examples for the upcoming White Sand graphic novels 5) A picture of a photo-shopped spiked cookie for our Dark Alley friends 6) ...TBD! Thanks!
