A few days after I finished HoA, I woke up at about midnight, and it struck me that the The Final Empire and most of WoA were extremely similar to Egypt's current situation. As HoA was published on October 14, 2008, it could not have been inspired by the revolution. Let me give a bit of background history on Egypt. On October 6th 1981, the Egyptian president, Anwar Sadat was assassinated. In this case, Sadat is going to be Alendi. He was assassinated for religious reasons, which fits in with the death of Alendi, as Kwaan did not think he was the true Hero of Ages. In addition, there is a theory in which Hosni Mubarak, who became president after Sadat, organised Sadat's death. Mubarak became president in 1981, until 2011, another thing in common between him and Rashek, their long periods of leadership. He was overthrown in 2011 by a revolution, started by a small amount of people (Kelsier's Band) on social media. A new president, Mohamed Morsi (Elend Venture) was elected after much negativity because of his religious extremity. (Elend's noble rank) He was then ousted, like Elend. The similarities end there, with the election of Penrod in Mistborn and the interm presidency of Adley Mansour in Egypt. This has happened before with The Wreck of the Titan, which was extremely similar to the Titanic, and was published years earlier. BRANDON SANDERSON IS PSYCHIC....
