If Brandon didn’t want us wondering what happened to Dalinar he would have written it differently. He could have simply said Dalinar went to the beyond but he felt the need to point out his soul was claimed by another. That has to mean something. Until I see a WoB slam it shut the door for Dalinars return is open IMO.

If stabbing someone in the face with an honor spear can be considered redemption then I am all for it.

It’s not a very strong opinion but I think we see Dalinar again. I know Brandon has said when someone goes to the beyond they are GONE, but “you cannot have him for he is claimed by another” HAS to mean something. One possibility I’ve come up with is that Valor has been mentioned too many times to not get involved IMO. With Valors vessel being a dragon this passage from Hoid makes me wonder: I know Dalinar isn’t a dragon but what happens if a Shard with a dragon vessel claims his soul? Who knows?
-
I’m super curious about Valor moving forward. I’d be shocked if she doesn’t play a major role in books 6-10. I’ve seen there are a lot of theories floating around about what happened to Dalinar at the end but I’m 99.9% on Team Valor. As in Valor claimed his soul.

I do not recall ever being more speechless or surprised at the end of an episode. That finale...I can’t believe they went there.

I don't believe for one second we're done with Jezrien. As King of the Heralds he's too important to be gone before we even see him in action. I believe his soul has merely been trapped in the gem. He'll get out eventually.

If Honorblades are not like normal Shardblades...
Kelsier Kenobi replied to Mason Wheeler's topic in Stormlight Archive
I'll have to search for Brandon's quote, but I believe it had to do with Szeth simply believing it was necessary like it was with a normal Shardblade. Here it is from Theoryland: MACROS Based on what we know currently about the ten heartbeats, why does Szeth require ten heartbeats to bring forth his Honorblade? BRANDON SANDERSON Perception is a very important part of how these things all work, and remember, the Honorblades work differently from everything else. Everything was based upon them. Why don’t you read and find out what’s going on there, but remember, the characters’ perception is very important. MACROS So then that’s why at one point Shallan requires ten heartbeats and now she doesn’t. BRANDON SANDERSON Right, just like—it’s the exact same reason why Kaladin’s forehead wounds don’t heal, because he views himself as need—as having those, somewhere deep inside of him, and that can’t heal until that goes away. And it’s the same reason why in Warbreaker, when you bring something to life your intention, rather than really what you say, is what matters. It’s all about perception. -
Since Dalinar is a Bondsmith we will no doubt find out more about them in Book 3 and I'm very curious. I get bonding the Spren of Honor and Cultivation, but Odium? That really doesn't add up for me. I really want to know why there were only 3.

I don't expect it to take quite that long this time. Didn't Brandon recently say he was sending chapters to his editor as he finished them this time? With the hope of course being able to turn in a more polished 1st draft. I would guess that should help speed up publication. Maybe Summer 2017 rather than Fall 2017?

Isn't Hoid "essentially immortal" though too? He certainly doesn't hold a shard. In Frost's response to Hoid (again, I'm assuming like you are) he writes of Rayse "I suspect that he is now more a force than an individual now" if Frost were holding a Shard himself isn't that something he would know, not suspect? Personally I view Frost and Hoid as non-shardholders that were likely present at the shattering who are now on opposite signs of the coin. Hoid has an agenda and is actively trying to accomplish something. Frost is trying to keep Hoid from interfering.

Taln's blade was just an example. I could have just as easily suggested Kalak's or Shash's. My point was that any Radiant that bonded an Honor Blade other than their Patron's (ie Kaladin bonding Jezrien's) would have four Surge's. Making them incredibly powerful.
-
Wouldn't Kaladin gain the powers of a Stoneward on top of his Windrunner abilities if he bonded Taln's blade? Seems to me that that would make for an incredibly powerful Knight Radiant if that happened.

Is it possible that Nightblood is a dead Spren Shardblade brought back to life with Breath? Wouldn't that be possible given the way Breath works?

Any thoughts here? Adolin?

They will certainly be devastated by the storm. 90% or "most" of the Shin dying just seems crazy to me. A 10% or 20% loss of the population would be a gigantic loss for a Nation the size of Shinovar. Unless the Everstorm is the Rosharian equivalent of several Nuclear Bombs I can't see the losses being anywhere near 90%.

Favorite Stormlight Archive Scene?
Kelsier Kenobi replied to SingTheSorrow's topic in Stormlight Archive
Tough one with so many good scenes. In WoK I'd have to go with Dalinar slamming Oathbringer into the ground giving it to Sadeas to keep his promise to Kaladin. In WoR I'll go with Kaladin saving Elhokar from Moash and Graves after speaking the third ideal. -
Who wrote the back cover synopsys of The Way of Kings book?
Kelsier Kenobi replied to rtfirefly's topic in Stormlight Archive
Nightwatcher seems very likely to me. -
I love Dalinar, but I was really looking forward to learning more about the Shin.

I really really wanted to go to this, but Friday was the only available day for me to have a procedure done. Won't be able to make the trip now.

It just came to me how devastating a group of Elsecallers could be to a normal or non-invested army. They could Soulcast the oxygen around the enemy into poison or Transport giant boulders right on top of their heads. Pretty scary actually.

I was completely hooked on WoK and Stormlight Archive after the two Preludes. I haven't struggled through any part of the first two books. So I really can't help you there. I can say once certain characters begin to discover their powers the magic use and action ramp up.

Helaran had (Amaram has) an Honorblade
Kelsier Kenobi replied to wolverinehokie's topic in Stormlight Archive
Is the tip of a Spear through an eye slit enough to kill a Surgebinder instantly? Don't you pretty much have to decapitate a Knights Radiant to kill them?
