[Spoilers] Elantris Anniversary Reactions
Witborn replied to Chaos's topic in Elantris and Emperor's Soul
All I've looked at are the maps at the beginning, the Ars Arcanum after the main story, and the cool scene after the deleted scenes. I didn't read the deleted scenes yet. -
[Spoilers] Elantris Anniversary Reactions
Witborn replied to Chaos's topic in Elantris and Emperor's Soul
What about the Ars Arcanum mention of First in world mention of the other one as far as I know. Also, I wonder what would happen (Warbreaker and Elantris 10th edition spoilers?) -
I just realized this chapter reminded me of Heroes season 1 with Sylar. "Save the over-exuberant gold compounder, save the world."

I can't wait for when all is said and done and I can give my grandkids the ~40 book "Cosmere" leather bound centennial editions set for $3,000.

That was the first thing I thought of.

That wasn't out of place for me. In North East USA, restaurant is used almost exclusively to eaterie. Are you from the US?
-
No that's not right. The big hint was the mural in Elantris and that the pool was a shardpool. There's a WoB somewhere about it. If you're going to respond to a year+ old thread to update it with information, please make sure the info is correct.

Why are "they" present at Gavilar's assassination?
Witborn replied to Herald's topic in Stormlight Archive
I'm with Oudeis here. I will go so far as to say until we get confirmation in book I wont accept it as fact, just highly probable. Brandon does like to troll/get misheard/forget things/get confused/change his mind.- 27 replies

i think the recreance is linked to the listeners/parshendi
Witborn replied to sh3nahz's topic in Stormlight Archive
I've thought for a while that the Recreance is related to the acts of the Last Legion. I also wonder if Feverstone Keep was somewhere near the shattered plains. -
I think it still works for simpler ones. Just because a line or dot appears in an aon doesn't mean it signifies a geographic point.
-
I think (and am not sure) that while geographic properties increase the efficacy of an aon, just because there is a line or circle present in an aon doesn't mean it's a geographic property. Does that make sense? The only geographic properties that must be present are the shore, mountains, lake and chasm, and only for the aon Aon portion of it, off of which the other sons are made. So aon Rao existed and the people who underwent the Shaod were like, hey let's build a city like that, which is why Elantris walls glowed. But now I wonder why the other cities like Kae were also not affected by the Reod. More questions...

Well he could have one of his friends from the 17th shard go to Nalthis and get a bunch of breaths then come back to Frost and give them to him.

Welcome to the forum! Have an upvote. Moogle, can I be added to the PM discussion as well?

Also, the bodies of Ati and Leras both reappear when they die so they don't just disappear. Something happens to them where they are preserved somehow.

Yeah that's why I'm thinking. So each region would have a city to math geography to match constellation. I can definitely see this as a reason. It could also be to draw us to the importance of aon Rao to te region and the story. I'm not sold on the constellation reason behind the regional magic on Sel, but that scene did stand out to me when I read it.
-
On a very recent reread of Elantris, I noticed something. There is a scene where Sarene is looking at the stars and notices the constellations of the aons. The aon directly overhead is aon Rao, which is the aon that Elantis and the four cities around it form. Now I know that the same would appear overhead for every region on the same hemisphere but I also know that Brandon likes to play with normal rules of astronomy (like Roshar). It made me wonder if those constellations had something to do with the regionalization of the magic on Sel.

Are We Being Too Biased towards Odium?
Witborn replied to teknopathetic's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Don't have much to add only that I just re-read the ending of HoA and Sazed never uses his hands to take up the shards. He only touches their power. Also, Vin inhales the mists. So while we don't know if Nightblood could take up the power of a shard for sure based on other factors, his lack of opposable thumbs does not preclude him from doing that per se. -
Isn't it personal choice which is influenced by society? Chords that sounds good here may sound not as pleasing in another country. Colors go in and out of style. So could a person at the fifth heightening tell which are more pleasing to him or herself? Absolutely. But that doesn't matter for fashion since someone else's opinion could differ on the matter. With music it's different. I may prefer minor chords to major chords, especially if I'm writing a sad song, but perfect pitch is still going to tell me which is minor and which is major without affecting my own preference.

A reading order (minimum spoilers)
Witborn replied to AlluminumMisting's topic in Cosmere Discussion
There are also characters from Mistborn and Elantris in WoK and some of the epigraphs in WoR have Easter eggs for those books as well. I would put SA as being read after Warbreaker, Mistborn and Elantris. If people are looking at your chart, they already know it's the same universe. -
Well he does say that she is a soulcaster, not that she has one, which implies he knows she can soulcast. And while he doesn't specifically say she's a lightweaver, he does say she has powers that he knows about and others don't.
-
Just took the Warbreaker one and it's been a while since I've read it and I've forgotten something too.

That metaphor makes a lot sense to me. I think I'm going to have to take your approach and go on faith, but I still wonder if there's more to electrum than we know. We really have only seen Elend and Vin burn in and they didn't seem to have too much time to explore it. Some questions I still have: What does an electrum savant look like? Do electrum and atium (or even gold) shadows have a cognitive realm manifestation? If so, that may help to explain some of my concerns. I hope we see more of it in the future.
-
You state that you see one shadow but react to all. You have to react to an individual shadow to create another, according to your explanation, which means you're not reacting to all the shadows at once, you're reacting to each one in turn. Your mind reacting to a shadow means you are reacting to the future, at least somewhat.
