  1. Reading "Lord of Chaos". I sometimes, can't bear with the female character's attitude towards men. It's one thing to show strong female characters, but I don't like it coming at the expense of men. This exasperated, "Men (something stereotype related to them)", is irritating. Also, I find it strange that, when describing beauty of a woman, they describe the colour of her eyes, her hair, her smile, etc., but mostly at other times, their attention is devoted to the sway of her hips, the proud lifting of her breasts, her dress which barely covers her.
  2. No good anime, or better said, anime according to my taste are airing now. Mushi-shi, Zoku Shou (Mushi shi Second season) was perhaps, the best one I have seen this year.
  3. The TV series should be as good as Game of Thrones. I have high hopes for it. By the way, long time readers, has anyone wondered, where is Kote's inn situated ?? It says Newarre, as far as I know, but still in which dominion does it lie ?
  4. Sophie's World. If only, I could get the movie.
  5. I too read "The Price of Valor" as "The Prince of Valor". Regarding, Blood Song, I agree it is not upto the level of Rothfuss, which I think the author tries (my opinion only). But now, having read one book, I don't want to leave the series at that.
  6. Hmm... I think, then I should put it away for some time.
  7. The same thing is for Fool's Assassin. I mean, in first 300 or so pages, nothing happens which accelerates the story. 100 pages for such a thing is nice, 200 is OK if your writing is awesome (like the siege of Y'Ghatan in The Bonehunters), but 300 is way too much. I wonder why authors do this ?
  8. Joe Abercrombie's book "Last Argument of The Kings" is the only book which I couldn't finish. I mean, suddenly every character changes, and the change is bad. Being a total goody-goody person, I couldn't tolerate this, and just spoilered my way to the end. Now, I think WoT book 5 is going through same phase. I just cannot tolerate any more Nynaeve pulling here braids, and her apparent disdain for men. Elayne till now is nice. Same goes for Min. But Aviendha is irritating. Her constant "Rand, you are for Elayne" and "Elayne loves you" is annoying. Though, I must say, Mat is an interesting character.
  9. So, I went to the IT department, just for a stroll. There I saw books in a shelf. Those books were related to various versions of Microsoft Windows, with the latest one being...take a guess. Windows 95. And the version they work on is 98. At that time, I remembered, maxal's words, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it !!"
  10. The Beatles --> I Want to Tell You. Ah!! I wonder, what it was like when the Beatles were mainstream music. They are so awesome.
  11. Now that's an anime, I want to watch. It's neither too long, nor too short. And reviewers, say that it is the next best thing after FMA:B.
  12. Now that is totally...um...surprising. To be honest, I've never seen a programming card. Is that the one similar to punch code ones ??
  13. Hmm...Okay. I am clinging to it. Actually, I had forgotten some characters (so many characters here), and Darujhistan isn't really that interesting to me. But, if the spoiler is really that huge, then I am ready to go on. It is a hard ride.
  14. 1. The Prologue of both Kingkiller books, esp. book 2 2. When Kvothe attends Master Elodin's classes (there's one I particularly like, about Fenton) 3. Kvothe and Denna at Tarbean in book 2 4. The last chapter of Kingkiller book 2 5. The epilogue of both books. I am a huge Rothfuss fan. -----Okay now other fantasy series---- 1. Malazan--> The siege of Capustan, esp. when Gruntle raises his banner (I know it is messy) 2. Malazan --> Almost every time when Karsa says "Witness". 3. Malazan--> Itkovian's act, and Beak's act. Readers will know which one. 4. Stormlight Archive --> When Kaladin says "Honor is dead". 5. Stormlight Archive --> When the stormfather says, "I am. I was....". 6. Stormlight Archive --> Hoid at the end of both books. I like his philosophising. 7. The Brothers Karamazov --> The Grand Inquisitor 8. Malazan --> Siege of Y'Ghatan. Erikson writes very good battle scenes.
  15. CCR --> Have You Ever Seen The Rain ? This band is nice. Wonder, why I didn't look it up before.
  16. Action: 76% Immersion: 81% (strange, but I always prefer fast travel in skyrim) Creativity: 27% Achievement: 86% Mastery: 90% Social: 67%
  17. This is a month of disappointments. Tried watching Dragon Ball (new series). Seriously disappointed. Left after 2 episodes. Tried watching Gintama. Again disappointed. Now whenever, I hear about any 'x' series that is successful now, but was considered to be aired-off, I'll be cautious before watching it. Sometimes, the 10 point review on MAL, raise expectations too high.
  18. My degree is also based on the same way. This is the only semester till now, where all subjects are related to my field. Regarding, the relevance. I agree with you. I did 2 months training at an industry, and was surprised to find that most of what we study is quite outdated. This was most evident in switchgear and protection area.
  19. I am reading The Brothers Karamazov. I've the Penguin Classics edition. The language is a little tough, as compared to other books. I've put Malazan book 8 on hold. Just re-read 5,6, and read 7 the previous month. Too much... warrens and convergence in one month. I've been thinking about The Magicians trilogy by Lev Grossman. Is it any good ? And what about, The Gentlemen Bastards ? I read a little of book one. Is the series as cool as its name ?
  20. Book 2 is my favourite book in the Farseer Trilogy. The problem with book 3 is that, for most of the book, its just Fitz going around from one place to another. I don't know if it counts as a spoiler or not. Though, things do get better in the Tawny man trilogy. By the way, I am more excited about the Fitz and Fool book 2. It is releasing on 11/8 (11th August), isn't it ?
  21. Don't be so quick. Rothfuss wrote his famous line regarding The Slow Regard for Silent Things for some reason. By the way, I've mixed feelings for the book. In the beginning I liked it, but then I grew quite frustrated. However, I did finish it. Not as good as book 2, imo.
  22. The magic!! It is so frustrating. After finishing the 7th book, I actually understood the warrens. And, I still don't know (I'm at book 8), what role Icarium has to play. He doesn't seem to be involved with Fokrul Assail. I think, he'll do something about K'chain Nah'ruk. Because in book 6, if I am not wrong, we see their skykeeps. And in book 7, seeing the desperation of KCCM matron, some action is imminent. Anyways, do I really have to read book 8 before going to book 9. I just don't feel the need to visit Darujhistan after nearly 6 novels (the last we were there was in book 3).
  23. Wow!! So you might have read about the Bronze age collapse. It is one of my favourite topics, apart from the rise of Rome, and the awesome campaign of Hannibal. One question to ask: How did you manage to remember names ?? Isn't it difficult ??
  24. I am currently pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering. After spending two years, I think, it is way more math, than relevant engineering. I've done more practice problems regarding differential equations, and linear algebra, than I did regarding circuit analysis.
  25. I sometimes wonder, what if Kvothe has become a Chandrian. But that is just too weird. Though, I do think, there's something with Auri (after reading The Slow Regard of Silent Things).
