Was he in some type of trap like ruin, or was their another shard like cultivation keeping him in check( if so how did he get around her). The Oathgates seam to instantaneously teleport anybody in or on them. At first it seams like there would be no danger whatsoever, but what of one of the Oathgates was situated somewhere near the coast, a coast city maybe. The instantaneous change in pressure could cause damage if done to quickly, like blown eardrums or ruptured organs. OF course this would be no trouble for KR because they can heal with stormlight.
