Speaking of, any word on who's going to play Newt? Or when it'll be released? -

The way they were treated, I assumed they were the magical equivalent of predatory animals, which opens up a whole new can of worms. Was keeping them in Azkaban akin to keeping the majority of a wild alligator population in a zoo, or was it more like a wildlife refuge? Since they are parasitic on humans, is cutting them off from their only source of food akin to letting a species go extinct, or is it more like swatting mosquitoes? Would it be moral to allow them to go extinct, since their very existence threatens the well-being of any nearby humans, or do they fill a valuable niche in Wizarding ecology? What do they do, aside from make someone's life miserable? -

I've wanted to know that, too. There was some offhanded remark about Aurors keeping their numbers "under control," but what does that mean? Are dementors sentient, either in actuality or under Wizarding law? What did they do after Azkaban? -

As a former student journalist and former aspiring reporter, I remain horrified at the terrible press standards of the Wizarding world. I mean, seriously. Were Skeeter a Muggle, she would've been sued for libel back in Goblet of Fire. Assuming she didn't have to fork over all her assets to pay court costs, she would've had trouble getting a job at a tabloid after that. Her antics during Deathly Hallows would have had judges and prosecution attorneys engaging in cage matches over who got the honor of sending her to prison. And now Rowling wants us to think she not only has her freedom, but a job at Wizarding Britain's only newspaper? I like fanon stories where she gets sent to Azkaban better. -
Sorry about that. :/ Travis and Kathy both snuck into Thoughttown and were captured. It's looking like Joe will break Kathy out and Travis is currently being interrogated. Security around the border has increased (I presume). Mailliw introduced a new Epic, Electro, but he hasn't met up with anyone yet. He certainly enjoys destruction, which we decided we need more of. Edgedancer introduced his characters, Nighthound and Voidgaze. Nighthound is super creepy and caused basically a massacre near Thoughttown for the heck of it, went to Voidgaze's house and coaxed her into a fight, got his butt kicked but did manage to get Voidgaze to head out toward the bank. Gordon saw the effects of Nighthound's rampage and is now tracking him down. CorpseMaker and Funtimes have teamed up, CorpseMaker because he thinks she can be useful and Funtimes for the heck of it. Nathan, whom CorpseMaker thinks is an Epic, has decided to call himself the Traveller. Ricochet has just stepped into what used to be CorpseMaker's lair, before Funtimes turned it into a bouncy castle, and is about to be tackled by her. And it looks like everyone who isn't in Thoughttown at the moment is headed toward the bank-turned-bouncy-castle.

What Happened in Portland

She had taken Nathan to the back of the bouncy castle, out of direct sight of the door. Together, they waited as the stranger stepped inside, followed by the girl. Funtimes giggled. "He's coming, he's coming!" Nathan said nothing and tried to look enthused. Another Epic had joined their party. Another Epic he had to fool. His heart pounded as the rubber creaked beneath the new Epic's feet. She bounced up and down. "Ohhhh this is too exciting! C'mon we'll go surprise him let's surprise him!" Before Nathan could object, Funtimes took his hand, dropped him a few feet away, and leaped toward the new Epic with an enormous grin on her face and intent to tackle. "You're here!" -

Sanderson Pickup Lines!

Huh. I admit I hadn't even considered most of those points—though now that you point them out, they're interesting to say the least. Most of my wondering about Prof had to do with his past—when he became an Epic, what made him decide to hunt other Epics down, how long Tia has been with him through all that.

I picture him huddled near Multnomah Falls, arms wrapped around his knees, rocking back and forth while muttering "Blood....so much blood...." before bursting into tears and immediately throwing some water on his face. Super creepy.

The rest of us are punching Jar-Jar in the face? I'm cool with that.

So sad. I've never used the downvote option here except by accident. I've been to sites where you're more likely to be down voted than up voted, and they're not fun. This site seems pretty upvote-focused, though.

But as long as they're in the dark, they're practically immortal. Why do you think Hot Topic is so poorly lit? -
BUT I MUST ATONE. INTERNET SINS ARE ETERNAL. Oh, I know. I'm just being over dramatic.

Link me to all of the posts referencing things that would be odd to see upvoted. LET IT BEGIN.

Moral of THIS story: Um....stay away from goth kids? Or is it that when the apocalypse hits, goth kids will get the coolest powers? Or....uh.....don't eat garlic while staring at that weird red star or you'll always smell like that when you use your powers? -

Moral of the story: Couch potatoes may not inherit the earth, but they are some of the nicest people you will ever meet. Don't kill them if and when the apocalypse hits. -

Actually, Theorymaker, what I think this RP needs is more human characters. Why not make her human instead? It would fit just as well, and we need more human perspectives.
-
Funtimes. It's her secondary.
-
And teleportation seems a bit repetitive, since her primary power involves travel. I'd say change it to accelerated reflexes or increased strength in her muscles. You could do a lot of crazy things with that, a la Portal. And three teleporters is kind of a lot for one RP.

What Happened in Portland
TwiLyghtSansSparkles replied to TwiLyghtSansSparkles's topic in Reckoners RPG
I'm an Epic now. Not really, but close enough. Nathan was no actor, but he had met a few. "A role is like a coat," one had told him, applying a fresh coat of lipstick. "You have to take it on and off at will, and pray the audience likes it enough to see you model it again." She had survived a good deal longer than most actors at the Reeve, so Nathan decided her advice had been sound. He had been handed a new coat—the Traveller—and all he had to do was wear it long enough to fool CorpseMaker. But what did that coat look like? Giving CorpseMaker a benevolent smile, Nathan crossed to the mesh that served as a window to the street. Rain fell in a drizzle Oregonian transfers claimed was typical of their home state. The sidewalks, so far as he could tell, were empty, and if he had to venture a guess he would have said Doctor Funtimes' bouncy castle was to blame. Most humans, himself included, knew it was wiser to scatter when an Epic claimed a building as their own. Nathan didn't mind. The simple beauty of raindrops against a tree-canopied sidewalk helped him think. "A name you choose is a promise." So said one of his heroes. But what sort of promise was Traveller? He had chosen it because it promised nothing at all, but if he were to stay alive, he would need to attach one and deliver on it. From the misting rain he made out two figures. One walked as though he had everything to see and nothing to hide, his head held high and his gait unhurried. The other moved with the quick, nervous step of one whose life could depend on the successful completion of the task at hand. Nathan's first instinct was to hide. His second was to urge Funtimes toward a hasty retreat. Act like an Epic. He smiled at Funtimes, who had begun changing a water cooler into various items, and CorpseMaker, who watched curiously. "It appears we have company." "Company?" Funtimes looked up sharply, an impish grin on her face. In the blink of an eye she was at his side, hands and face pressed against the mesh. Nathan pointed at the human and Epic, who were nearly there. Funtimes pounded her fists against the mesh. "Hi!" she called. "You look fun! Are you fun? Come in here and have fun with us!" -
