What Happened in Portland
TwiLyghtSansSparkles replied to TwiLyghtSansSparkles's topic in Reckoners RPG
To say there were no smart-mouthed servants in Newcago would be inaccurate. They certainly existed, but never for long. As Nathan's new servant answered Lightwards with increasing impudence, he was torn between frantic anger at the man's stupidity and awe at his bravery. "What was your name?" Nathan asked quickly, before the two raptors could latch onto the next thing he said. "Remington Springfield," he growled. "I won't forget that," Nathan said. A man named for two different kinds of rifle would be difficult to forget. And so would two different facts from two different sources regarding Purple Phoenix. If Nathan didn't share Penumbra's words, he could tip his own hand; but if Phoenix had rigged the museum with explosives, he couldn't be trustworthy. As he was debating his choices, wearing his finest poker face, Funtimes grinned. "Then his beard is still okay!" "I don't think that's the thing we need to be worried about--" Nathan began, but she leaped ahead. "Penumbra the Dummyface knew him." "He might know where he went," Nathan added. Although, if interrogated, Penumbra could spill a juicy detail that might cast suspicion on him.... "And we were about to track him down before you so rudely interrupted us." -
Good, because too much of that and you'll get Swifted.

That doesn't make them unable to recognize an adorable couple when they see one. By the way, did you just Kanye me?
-
One of them involves....well, remember that Reckoners cell operating out of Oregon Joe mentioned? Edit: I didn't know my posts were that scary, Voidus.
-
If Edgedancer is ever strapped for ideas, I have a few thoughts about how an Algaze date could happen.....
-
Sounds like a plan.
-
I shall have to find the other words of the prophecy. For now, however, I will observe the happenings of the thread to see who would be the best shipmate for Ray.
-
No, I called Voidgaze the heir to an ancient prophecy about a pug of daylight who will vanquish a man called Stalkerface McCreeperton. yes there's a prophecy now.
-
Fan theory: Voidgaze is Daypug.
-
I do believe this couple is, as the youth doth say, "totes adorbs."
-
-
Verily, that suggestion doth sound pleasing to mine ears.
-
Methinks it be you, dear Kobold.
-
-
If only she used her powers for good, instead of evil.
-
And Voidus gives us the bright side!
-
O.o Kobold, what have you unleashed upon us????

Yeah, the raptor scene was pretty creepy. And by that, I mean "Holy cow, I'm glad this is made up because that would be terrifying to watch in real life." IRL, I think Lightwards would be a pretty terrifying villain, to the average Joe. But I'm glad I can provide Doctor Funtimes to balance that out. Yes. Mobius gets him and…um…bad things happen, you'll never see him again, let's all stop thinking these dark thoughts and eat cookies!

I know what you mean. My WIP used to be set in an alternate history version of the 1920s, but now it's set thirty years in the future. How the heck did that happen?
-
Page 22? You really think it'll take that long? Well, I suppose Funtimes will need a convincing excuse to go to California. It'll all just snowball from there, though. One glimpse of anything even remotely Japanese-inspired and it's sushi time! You, um, certainly succeeded. She is extremely twisted and mind-numbingly terrifying. And twisted in a way that's not so over-the-top it's implausible. Given a sad backstory, a terrifying set of superpowers, and a voice in her head pushing her to do something a little worse, coupled with her own conflict-avoiding personality….yeah, I can see her being a realistic supervillain. Doctor Funtimes was my answer to two questions: 1. What kind of Epic would steal some random guy from a clairvoyant serial killer? 2. What kind of Epic would steal some random guy from a clairvoyant serial killer…and not kill said random guy OR said clairvoyant serial killer for kicks and giggles? As the evidence will attest, the answer to those questions was, "A really, really weird one."

I caught the implication that she did away with her parents, but…call me naive, but I kind of assumed she killed them outright in a twisted act of "mercy" instead of trapping them in a pocket universe. Or killed them and hid the evidence in a pocket universe. Then again, the pocket universe fits her better. She just gets more and more pleasant, doesn't she?
