Actually, upon further reflection, Edgerunner seems the more likely one to request two hours of Tuvan throat singing….so she can "borrow" Autumn's iPod and blare that playlist wherever Arsenal is likely to be.
-
Looks like an entire playlist of Tuvan throat singing it is. She strikes me as someone who'd like sort of quirky, soothing music, like The Hush Sound's gentler stuff, maybe? Or, given how Edgerunner's snarking can pull her out of her darker moods, she might also enjoy Weird Al.
-
That sounds more feasible—and also pretty cool. Kobold, what are the chances Arsenal made Autumn an iPod and an iHome so she can play music in her office? And Mailliw, Voidus, would Edgerunner and Scribbler ever want her to play music for them, and if so, what?

It'd probably just be easier to make him able to turn his ghosting on and off at will. What I'm picturing, so far as that weakness goes, is him holding the venom, thinking about the snake biting him, thinking about how easy it would be for someone to grab a syringe and take some out of the bottle; he knows it's irrational, but he's already thinking about it, and now that he's thinking about it, he can't stop…and in the time it took him to think about it, someone snuck up behind him with a gun.

Yeah, the women he surrounded himself with knew that "[he] didn't like it when [they] talked back to him," which kept them from even getting close to triggering his weakness; a single power was weakened, but the argument could be made that he was deliberately avoiding his weakness by the way he treated women. With Newton, I think it was more like someone who is deathly afraid of confrontation working in a job as a server in a busy restaurant—she isn't exactly dealing with her fear on a daily basis, but the people she works with are going to be blunt and will definitely bring any mistakes to her attention, so it's something close. But since she's more dealing with a milder form of it as a part of her work environment, she's more working around it than actively facing it.

Think of it this way: every Epic has PTSD, which seems to have been made worse by Calamity, and their weakness is a trigger. The second he touches the rattlesnake venom, he'll have post-traumatic flashbacks, probably mixed with a panic attack, which would not only nullify his powers, but could very well lead to a full-fledged nervous breakdown.
-
It's an interesting idea, but judging by Sourcefield's reaction to her weakness, I doubt an Epic would be able to keep it together long enough to turn their weakness into an advantage.

So that's why Lucas mysteriously recovered from whatever illness he had! He's a healing Epic now! RUN, EMMA. RUN WHILE YOU STILL CAN.

Going by the synopsis, the book doesn't sound like my thing at all, but I find myself strangely jealous of the author's surname.

Ninjaing acknowledged, but who am I to waste a perfectly good meme?

How Did Epics Not Run Out Of Names?
TwiLyghtSansSparkles replied to Bookworm's topic in The Reckoners
Han (noun): A beloved character from the original Star Wars trilogy only three Star Wars movies currently in existence -izer (suffix): An object or person that can turn things into other things (ex. a synthesizer can turn a normal sound into something that makes one think of aliens) Hanitizer can turn people and objects into Han Solo. -
You could always write them on two separate timelines for now, and when we skip to morning in Portland, just write a few lines or paragraphs explaining when they returned and how Lightwards reacted.

Could be that Nighthound's attack on her house left her in a kill-or-be-killed-over-and-over state of mind. And in the years she's been in that house, there could have been more Nighthounds.

A business degree with a double minor in marketing and pugs, perhaps?

So Kobold's question got RAFOd and now I'm thinking I should've gotten a degree in puglishing instead. The things you miss while you're asleep.

Taking the corruption into account, I think the key question here is, "What would this Epic do, if they suddenly found themselves free of the corruption and were faced with the full weight of what they'd done?" There are Epics in this game who would probably shrug it off and continue doing what they were doing. Timeport and Nighthound come to mind, as do others. And there are other Epics who might look at what they'd done and decide that fixing it wasn't their responsibility (since it was, after all, that stupid star's fault for corrupting them) and quietly leave the area. And then there are other Epics who would be horrified by their crimes and do whatever they could to atone for them, living with the weight of what they'd done until they had done everything in their power to make things right. With the extenuating circumstances here, I think the degree to which an Epic would be willing to take personal responsibility for their crimes—whether or not they knew their suspended conscience was almost entirely due to Calamity—is what marks them as good or bad. So while Calamity does play a part, I think it's up to the Epic whether or not they take responsibility and act accordingly.
