  1. On the frozen rep thing, or on the sacrificing-Kobold-to-Baba-Ji thing?
  2. That's beautiful.
  3. Thanks. Yikes. That is pretty scary. Though I don't know how dumb you should feel; before I moved, I lived in a state where you could have a perfectly friendly ten-minute conversation with someone who dialed your number by mistake, both of you knowing the entire time that you weren't the person they were looking for. With all the wrong number callers you've gotten, I'd say it was a pretty human error to make. At least the number is blocked now.
  4. Sooooo easy….. I've read hundreds of trope pages, plus the works listed there, and I still haven't made it through the entire site—and that's not even counting DarthWiki and SugarWiki and the YMMV page…. To save time, I avoid trope pages for media I don't frequent, like the video game tropes. But Great Noodly One, if you're interested in history at all, do not—I repeat—do not visit the Forgotten Tropes page unless you have a lot of time on your hands, because you won't be leaving anytime soon.
  5. I haven't seen any consistent tropes used across Brandon's work, though what I have noticed is that he's more likely to play with a trope than he is to play it straight. A few examples I've noticed…. Gender roles in the Stormlight Archive: Inverted in that women read while men are illiterate; played straight in that war is a "man's game;" deconstructed in that it's mostly one society that observes all of this strict segregation, the segregation even permeates things like what kinds of food are served to the different genders, and that things were more egalitarian in the past. The Heroic Quest™ in Mistborn: Inverted and deconstructed in that the world is already dying and will continue to decay if things are not put to rights immediately. What Measure Is A Mook? in the Reckoners books: Horrifyingly deconstructed in that all Epics see non-Epics as essentially cannon fodder and some even come to enjoy murder. There are many, many more than what I listed here, but I can't recall a single trope I found in his works that wasn't played with to some degree.
  6. That would be more in character, though it would be funnier if he did it because he heard Obliteration had one and thought it would make Vondra and Arsenal fear him.
  7. Okay, let me run through all the stuff we know about Vapor Snake prior to his actual introduction: He like likes Autumn. He fights the corruption to the point where he instructed Vondra to use his weakness if he ever lost control. He loves donuts. Bavarian cream, especially. He would let Deathwish die if he was distracted by the aforementioned donuts. He may or may not be a cross dresser.
  8. But…but…she mostly wears jeans, where is he getting all these dresses and why are they so fancy?
  9. Unless Deathwish decides to start wearing lipstick.
  10. Maybe if he saves that bit of information for the second or third date….
  11. I believe that is the operative term here.
  12. "Do you want to borrow it?" "No…no thanks, Jack. You know I don't wear lipstick." shrugs "More for me, I guess."
  13. If the guards didn't take his lipstick when they first brought him in, maybe. Which I presume led to an awkward radio call, beginning with, "Uh….Commander…there's no easy way to say this, but….Vapor Snake wears lipstick. Slow Kiss red, to be specific."
  14. Does anyone have any objections to calling Vapor's prison Stormcage?
  15. Oh, no. He's going to last awhile longer, unfortunately, but the day can end with him still living.
  16. Yeah, I noticed that. I wonder….if the site isn't tracking rep, does that mean the upvote quota isn't working, either?
  17. Autumn: Quick, Jack, to the bunker while they're still distracted! We don't have much time!
  18. I…I'd suggest distracting Shiny from the Autumn/Vapor thing with Deathwish….but I'm not sure the world is ready for that yet.
  19. Edge is right. The powers of the Shipmistress are not to be underestimated. For instance, there is always the chance that redeemed!Deathwish, held hostage by Shiny Sparkle, realizes that what happened to him can be replicated and dedicates all of his wits to finding a way to redeem his sparkly kidnapper.
  20. If he used who I think he'd use, at least she'd make the cake all sparkly. I've begun charting it out in my head, but I haven't actually put anything to paper.
  21. I don't know. The frog suit might work….or he might have a scantily clad woman jump out of a cake in hopes it turns him back into the sleazy Deathwish we know and hate, rather than making him cover his eyes and bolt from the room, returning with a bathrobe for her. Not yet. Why?
  22. I'm actually convinced that many similarities between the Cosmere and the Reckonersverse are nothing more than Easter eggs for Brandon's more die-hard fans. It could be that he intentionally used Rending in both Rithmatist and Reckoners to give fans of both a sort of "Aha!" moment.
  23. So, Kobold. Strange question. Would Arsenal be mad enough about redeemed!Deathwish scrawling an obscene apology on his house in pink paint to do something about it, and would that something involve trying to corrupt him again?
