  1. And I have to say, Sanderson does it again. Wonderful book. With every book he releases he is cementing his place as my all time favorite writer. I love where the story is going, and I ca't wait to get my hands on the next one. What a great little plot twist. Poor Wax though, Sanderson is really putting him through the wringer. Having to see the woman he loves die twice? The next conversation he has with Harmony is going to be very interesting. Speaking of that conversation, I loved the one they had in this book, I love how that even as a God his personality really hasn't changed all that much. He still feels a little like the old Sazed. I can just imagine him wringing his hands every time he has to make a decision he knows is gonna cause someone pain. I have to say that Steris is actually starting to grow on me. She seems like a dry, boring person a lot of the time, but then there are those moments when she goes along for an Allomantic ride with Wax where she comes alive. At the party as well she seems like she is really trying to get a little closer to Wax. In her own odd little overly planning things out kinda way, but she is trying. I find myself hoping that Sanderson doesn't do the obvious thing and have Wax eventually hook up with Marasi, and instead develops a real romance with Steris. Great book though, I had a very hard time putting it down.
  2. Yeah well your people are dirty little lizard...rat....dog things so...
  3. Drizzt Do'Urden as a Windrunner with dual shardblades.
  4. Meh. I could not get into those books. I read the first one, barely made it all the way through. Tried to read the second one twice, never managed to even get a quarter of the way through it. Years later I tried to re-read the first one...couldn't do it. Just bored the crap out of me. Sorry to those who loved it but...those books are just not for me, so I can't see a show based on them as interesting to me.
  5. I am seriously excited for this movie. I am a huge Harley Quinn fan, she is easily my favorite female character in all of comics. Yes, I know, I'm weird that my favorite female character is a villain, but she's awesome! This is the first time we get to see her in a live action movie, and she looks really, really good from what I've seen so far. Obviously we don't hear much of her voice, but she looks good. Hopefully her performance matches. Not sure about Will Smith as Deadshot, but...he's such a great actor that he has a chance to pull it off. The only thing I really don't like about it...is Joker's look. I realize he is not a main character in this one, but we will probably see more of him in other movies and...I don't like it. We're probably talking about the greatest villain in history here. I don't know, maybe I am still reeling from the loss of Heath Ledger who played such a fantastic Joker, best performance in that role ever. I really am looking forward to this. It's different. We see good guys saving the day all the time. Now we get to see the bad guys do it. It could be really good, I hope it is. Cuz I wanna see more Harley.
  6. That would be awesome if it was. I am really looking forward to how those two would act around each other. Of course though, I am one of those who would love to see a Jasnah/Kaladin pairing rather than Shallan/Kaladin. Not likely to happen sure but...one can dream yes? Hmm, I wonder if there is something similar going on there as with his slave brands. The Stormlight doesn't heal that because it's part of how he sees himself right? Maybe that's why his eyes go back?
  7. I started watching season one, and it seemed good at first, but midway through I started losing interest. Not really sure why.
  8. Perhaps because The Final Empire is located at one of the world's poles, and the Mists naturally started in the middle?
  9. This is one of those movies where I am expecting it to be fun to watch, but not very good.
  10. I would have to say the moment Kaladin speaks the third ideal, he breaths in, all the lights go out, and he just explodes with light holding his own Shardblade. That gave me chills when I read that.
  11. Yeah, I like that the character is voiced. And I also like that judging from the little bit they showed about character creation, the women of the game won't all look like they have mustaches. The weapon modding sound like fun as well, I am really looking forward to that. One other thing I hope they do is make it easier to place decorative items. That was always a pain in the butt trying to click on the thing you want to move and trying to drag it around to the right position.
  12. Didn't think of Kim Harrison at first, and I loved her books. I wouldn't say that they are romance oriented. There is a lot of romance involved true, but it always felt like the romance was in the background to me rather than the main focus of the story.
  13. It was ripped out by Vin when she became super Vin after absorbing the mists. She was about to rip out the second one when she ascended to full godhood. Later Elend notices that he can see the whole way through Marsh's head. And I think that it was Sazed that actually bashed it out of place.
  14. This is not exact of course, but my favorite is Lopen down in the chasms. My other hand, the one that was eaten long ago by some beast? It is making a rude gesture at you right now. I am telling you so you can prepare to be insulted. Like I said, not exact, but that one had me in stitches.
  15. Ahhh, so by seeing the possible things that you yourself are gonna do, hence potentially seeing your own death, it changes what you are gonna do and so affects what an atium burner sees.
  16. Anyone else super excited about what they told us about this game at E3? It sounds like it is gonna be a lot of fun. I am especially looking forward to being to build my own buildings and settlements.
  17. I've always thought Elaine Cunningham was pretty good. Not as good as the male names you've mentioned, but still pretty good. She writes in the Forgotten Realms universe. Two different series. One based around The Harpers and another based around a young female drow. I also really enjoyed the Kushiel's Legacy series by Jacqueline Carey. It is set in an alternate history of medieval Europe. It reads almost like the memoirs of the main character, so if your not into that style you might not like it. Also, it is quite a bit more adult than your usual fantasy. After all, the main character is basically a prostitute spy. Although, in this world, if your of the right faith, prostitution is considered an act of of worship. Anyway, it's pretty good.
  18. Orange is the New Black, by Piper Kerman. Like the show, so wanted to read the book. Not a bad read.
  19. I am just full of questions today. When a Pulser uses their power and their sitting in their bubble while the world outside passes by at a faster rate, do they age with the normal passing of time of the planet, or are they aging with the altered time within their bubble? Did I say that right? Lol, I went through about half a dozen wordings in my head before I chose that one.
  20. I think it was a joke on Spook's part. He knew how confusing the language was and might have thought how amusing it would be if people in later generations took it as some kind of fancy official language.
  21. Ahhh, got it now. Thanks guys. Kinda similar to that Skyrim trick where you make a potion that increases blacksmithing, then forge a piece of armor that increases alchemy, then make another potion that increases smithing, and so on and so on. At least it's similar to me. Another question. The goldminds that Miles has piercing his skin, are they being burned away when he uses the health? Or is he just constantly using this trick to keep those goldminds filled up? I am just wondering if Wax just kept shooting at Miles if he would eventually run out of that health.
  22. That seems like it could be possible. I mean, it seems to me that the guy had to have some kind of power to pull off what he did. And I feel your pain on the deaths, lol. The first time I finished Hero of Ages I didn't like the ending with Sazed becoming Harmony as much as I should have because of Vin and Elend dying. Second time though I was able to appreciate it much more. Wouldn't Wax have seen his Electrum shadows though if he was? Because Electrum was the metal that one could use to fight Atium if one did not have it. I remember Elend burning Electrum against Yomen.
  23. Can't say I agree with it either. Can't see Sazed/Harmony operating that way.
  24. I just finished rereading Alloy of Law not to long ago, and I am still not sure I quite get how Compounding works. Miles stores up his health in his metalminds right? Does he then burn the metalmind and does that just give a better boost to health than simply tapping a gold metalmind? Even if so, wouldn't he always be seeing the past version of himself? It's probably a lot simpler than I'm trying to make it seem, lol, just can't wrap my brain around it.
  25. Well drat. Guess he was just really good at reading people then.
