  1. The name "Reader Song" rolls off the tongue far more than it should.
  2. Knowing him, he probably does it for slontze-y reasons. I support that! I plan to have a Jingleberry bio up soon. Fortunately she already has a pony.
  3. I may or may not have been accidentally included in the PM conversation where they discussed this.
  4. Awesome. What if I told you that I've occasionally listened to it while posting? Fun fact: singing the last couple of lines is not a good way to appear sane in public. It is, however, a good way to escape an awkward conversation.
  5. Cool. We'll just have to see what TwiLyght and Voidus think of it. September is about as "early fall" as it gets, so it seemed a fairly rational month to start in. I may have also been subtly referencing "What Happened in September."
  6. Awesome. Once I have more dates to work with, I'll compile them all into a single timeline. What would you guys think of putting the timeline somewhere easily accessible, like the Epics of Oregon thread? That way people could refer back to it easily while writing. I like both of them! The name "Destructors" is also pretty badchull.
  7. Yeah, it's always fun to stick it to the Church with a good pun. I guess we'll have to branch off and find other puns--that, or just leave them alone.
  8. Voidgaze seemed almost flustered at the suggestion. She jumped slightly when she heard him speak, but she quickly recovered herself. If her behavior could be called recovery, that was. Lightwards felt her eyes settle on him, looking almost sinister in their intent gaze. Finally, the woman slapped her hands to her cheeks and took a deep breath. Clearly whatever thoughts she'd harbored had disconcerted her somehow. If the air that whooshed around in her skull could be called thoughts. “Thanks for the offer but I think I´ll just head home," Voidgaze began apologetically. "Well, technically it isn´t really home but I am staying at Thoughttown, so it´s the next best thing, right? Actually, I´m not even sure, if my house is properly inhabitable at the moment, which doesn´t leave me with a lot of options but listen to me rambling. I think I´ll just go now… but I would prefer not falling down, would you mind taking me down with you?” There really wasn't anything in her head, was there? The girl could scarcely keep two thoughts together. Lightwards smiled nonetheless. "I would be glad to help you down, Ms. Blue. Hopefully you'll be able to put your house in order soon." He turned towards Nighthound next, who was steadily giving Voidgaze a withering stare. A stare which would probably result in gruesome murder for anyone besides a resurrection Epic. “I might as well humor you," Nighthound said finally, turning to Lightwards. "If you have something specific in mind. Otherwise, don´t worry, I have a whole town to entertain me.” Lightwards considered for a moment. Obviously the word "entertainment" was synonymous with "massacre" when Nighthound was the speaker... but that was not necessarily a bad thing. Massacres could be useful in the right hands. "I've nothing specific in mind," he said finally, giving an insincere chuckle. "Though as you entertain yourself, perhaps you could work to advance our cause in a small way..." He locked eyes with the feral Epic. "If you leave survivors in the wake of your fun, let them know who you represent. Spread word of the Empire of Light with every drop of blood you spill. Once the people of Portland associate the Empire's name with your carnage, I imagine they'll be far more hesitant about defying us." Lightwards turned away with a faint smile. "Do this for me, Nighthound, and there will be a strong new theropod with your name on it." He walked away, Voidgaze trailing behind him in that absurd bathrobe of hers. At the Museum entrance, his comrades were already waiting. Lucentia stood with a regal stiffness, while Aldo twirled what looked like a miniature buzz saw in his hands. Cricket stood with her arms folded over her chest, glaring at nothing in particular. Lightwards walked up to them with a smile. "Are you ready to bring us down, Lucentia?" As he spoke he snapped his fingers. The dinosaurs he'd lined up before reacted at once. Several dozen tons of reptilian flesh crashed through the doorway, running with thundering steps until they hurtled off the edge of the floating fortress. "My affairs are in order--I'm ready when you are."
  9. Yeah, Brandon's merchandising team is just as sharp as ever. Though that reminds me--I don't have 20 dollars, but would they let me trade my Breath for this shirt?
  10. Yeah, I'm thinking no.
  11. I'd suggest Bryan Cranston as Lightwards, but realistically Lightwards is undeserving of such an epic actor.
  12. Lucentia would perish; Lightwards would perish more than any other Epic. Nighthound would flee, CorpseMaker would retreat in terror... and Sam Trattner would stare blankly at the sky before exclaiming "Is that my mom?"
  13. I can totally imagine Elizabeth Trattner becoming an Epic with bakery-related powers. She'd call herself The Cookie Cutter and go on a sugar-fueled vendetta against Lightwards and Lucentia, spreading "baked bads" in her wake.
  14. Now we just need for someone to come out of a dark alley and offer Chimera a cookie.
  15. OK, so Lucentia's only ruled Astoria for about a year. I thought she'd been ruling since 2015. What really surprises me is that she survived as a vanilla around her brother. How far apart were their Epic awakenings?
  16. "How dare you suggest I'm not as powerful as you!" And thus, for the first time ever, a fleet of undead pterodactyls dropped bags of candy over the heads of terrified Portlanders. From Steelheart Chapter 21. For context, Megan and David are talking. Funnily enough, I forgot that David already knew. It makes sense though, considering how much he knows about Fractured States history. It was Joe who suggested setting the RP in Oregon, based on that passage.
  17. Thanks. It's already helping me sort through all the dates and events in my head. Does Funtimes ever refer to her powers as "THE BEST CHRISTMAS PRESENT EVER!!"?
  18. Remington Springfield is the most awesomely badchull man in Portland. I realize there are already a lot of discussions going on here, but I wanted feedback and cooperation on something. I've gotten confused about the dates involved in the RP's history, so I've put together a loose timeline of Reckonersverse history + Oregon events. This is to help myself and others maintain continuity when talking about dates. That's all I could gather at the moment. Naturally a lot of the precise years center around my characters, as they're the only ones I can state with some degree of certainty. I'd love it if other people could fill in the blanks with their characters--I'm especially interested in when Lucentia took control over Astoria and when Phoenix and Saccharine's lab disaster occurred.
  19. I'm no good at math either, but I like your Financier proposals. Aldo has something similar to Financier's precognition, but it has a much shorter range. He can predict where a bullet will end up after it's fired, but nothing so distant as next Tuesday's lunch. I think the Reckoners would probably know about Koschei. They seem to keep tabs on a wide variety of Epics, and a delusional High Epic who succeeded in taking over a city would definitely hit their radar. For that matter, David Charleston probably knows about him.
  20. I like them both! Don't have many ideas for alternate names at the moment, but I like the name Metalmech. Call him the Mechromancer, maybe? A name which I totally didn't just steal from Borderlands 2. Resurrection Epics. Resurrection Epics everywhere. In all seriousness, I like him a lot. I think he'll be a fun and awesome addition to Astoria. How does he predict longterm events when there are so many chaotic variables, though? It seems like there are countless factors he couldn't possibly predict--a surprise Epic could show up and change the tide of the battle, a soldier's old wound could start acting up in the middle of the fight, a bug could fly in and distract someone... etc. On a smaller scale, one of the cooks could catch a cold before Tuesday, resulting in a totally different lunch than the one he predicted. How does his precognitive ability interact with matters of pure chance? EDIT: Do you need a Lightwards POV before writing a Remington post? I'm incapable of writing one at the moment, but I can make that my priority for tomorrow morning if you're waiting on me.
  21. Really? 'Cuz you're not doing much to Soothe my concerns.
  22. Don't apply your sensible logic to my cherished dreams.
  23. I can't express how much I want Remington to punch every Epic in the RP. Is that an Epic? Because it sounds like an Epic.
  24. "Whoah whoah whoah, what are you doing? You know your arthritis acts up when you punch people--" * punch * "Ow! OK, so you decided it was worth the price. But really, think of the negative example you'd be sending your kid! 'Yes, Timmy, violence solves all your problems...'" * punch * "Agh! Good point, little Timothy isn't actually in here to watch you doing this. But really, what would your parents think of this? What would dear, departed--" * punch * punch * punch * punch *
