Whatever else you can say about Epics, at least they're more progressive than Canberran politicians. (Depending on how picky you are about which direction the city "progresses." )
-
Precisely. It needn't even be confined to the United States--why not cut the Aussies among us a break and start up What Happened in Sydney or What Happened in Canberra?

If the tutorial thread is to be held as non-canon, I feel it would be better to leave it out of Oregon. A Gresham thread that's out of WHIO continuity would rob the primary RP of a perfectly good setting, as having two different threads detailing the fate of Gresham would be confusing. There would be no reason to set the tutorial in Oregon if it's not going to contribute to the narrative and worldbuilding of our setting. If we go with the Epic Hunger Games approach, I feel it would be better to keep it somewhere far away from Oregon, where the two continuities couldn't possibly be confused.

Awaken something with the Command "Do not be Awakened." -
I'm pretty sure it's its own thread, with no real connection to Astoria. My understanding--which admittedly may be way off base--is that Gresham would be used as a place for newcomers to easily enter and begin rampaging without having to catch up on the politics and history of the other threads. Thus there would be no ruling Epic or government infrastructure, and little to no communication with the outside world. What I'm a little foggy about is under what circumstances established players would be added in. If, for instance, I decided that Lightwards should go to Gresham to attend some sort of nefarious business, would that be permitted or would I be required to keep my characters out of the city? Would we put up an effort to keep key Oregonian characters out of the city, to preserve it as a simple tutorial region?

Fun fact: beginning random conversations with "I'm no weatherman" is a great way to confuse people. Example: "I'm no weatherman, but I found Mistborn to be a fresh and innovative approach to the fantasy genre." That sounds reasonable. And it would explain why the rainy weather that the northwest is so well known for hasn't been very well-represented. (That, and the fact that the entire RP scarcely covers two or three days.) What do you think of the idea of using "What Happened in Gresham" for a tutorial, Twi? The one problem I see with it is that it might be difficult keeping such a large city separate from the rest of the RP, since it'd probably draw heavy hitters like Paladin or Lightwards just as well as it'd draw new Epics passing through the city.
-
It's also a very large city, which would make it more likely to become a target for a wide range of disparate Epics than a small town like Cottage Grove. Theoretically, at least.

First of all, I wouldn't use any Lightwards post as a means of divining canon. Anything I write is only as canon as a tipsy bumblebee with weights around its wings is graceful--which is to say, not at all. But based on the name alone, it sounds likely that Snowfall can and does use snow as an active threat against his/her subjects. What kind of unusual weather formations do you think would result from Snowfall and Khione's struggles? In any case, I really hope we get an Epic Encyclopedia at some point. Having an illustrated entry on Snowfall would make this speculation a lot easier. I like the idea of a "tutorial" thread, though I definitely agree that Astoria wouldn't really fit the bill. How about Gresham? It's a pretty big city with over a hundred thousand people, so that would give a lot of room for newcomers to destroy and senselessly rampage across the city.

Unrelated post is unrelated to the current conversation. Remember how in Steelheart, casual references are made to Epics that David suspects the Reckoners might try to hit next? A mention is made of Snowfall, an Epic who was described as running a gang in Sacramento. Snowfall is sort of a weather-y name, so it's not too much of a stretch to assume that Snowfall is a weather manipulator. We all know this--some of the unusually sunny weather in the RP has been attributed to Snowfall's influence changing the climate around the west coast. What I'm wondering is this: since TwiLyght established that a powerful weather controller named Khione lives in Alaska, how likely is it that Snowfall and Khione are engaged in a constant meteorological pushing match over the west coast? It seems that two powerful weather masters on two sides of a continent would cast a noticeable effect over the areas between them.

Justice is a dish best served cold--though there's an argument to be made for soft-served.

This... this is so awesome I can find no words to describe it. If it's for a worthy cause--and I rather suspect that it is--then be my guest.
-
And you see yourself as pure? Did you not once call yourself "Future Companion" on your member title? Was that not a reference to Doctor Who? Did the titular Doctor not have a seventh incarnation? Did this seventh incarnation not visit the Future? Does this not make you, a hypocrite? I rest my case.

Granted. You will feel a stabbing pain through your heart every time someone makes a grammatical error within fifty feet of you; a person using "y'all" to refer to a singular person would actually kill you dead. Y'all should be careful. I wish for fifty clones of myself. -
Oh, I count myself as lucky. I count myself... to seven! If you ever feel inclined to have the Financier mention a vanilla named Jared as the most brazen blasphemer he's ever encountered, be my guest.

Before I change back into a pony, can I please go on the record as the Most Vile and Corrupted Enemy of the Church of Zero?
-
And I suppose the infamous Agent 007 would also be forbidden from this thread? Is his countenance also a blasphemy against Savior Zero and a vile worship of the One Who Ate Nine?
-
So theoretically, I would be committing blasphemy of the highest order by posting this shape on a thread dedicated to HIM?
-
If "7" is the diabolic One Who Ate Nine in the Financier's mythology, then would he say that we're participating in a satanic ritual by posting on Question 7?
-
Darn it Twi. I'd never heard the glorious phrase "Oreo pizza" before, and now I'll never be happy until I'm intimately acquainted with it.

Would a large predator's bloodlust count as an emotion? Obviously if a saurian Warrior were commanded to kill dampening its emotions wouldn't matter. But hypothetically speaking, could he dampen an animal's drive to hunt?
-
Out of curiosity... could Quota affect the emotional state of a dinosaur?
-
I fully support giving the Trifecta a dinosaur-sized timeout.

Nah. He gave it a very small scratch, and expected it to get killed as soon as it entered Dominion territory.
