  1. The flaw in your plan is that TwiLyght doesn't wear a suit. I'm convinced that she spends the day in a glittering prom dress with all the hues of a rainbow and then some splattered across it.
  2. Some spoilers for Perfect State follow. This morning I finished reading Perfect State, another good novella by our beloved Bandersnatch. There were things I liked about it and things I felt were kind of meh, but all in all I greatly enjoyed it. In particular I adored the central concept of the story: the concept of a world where brains are removed from fetuses and plugged into elaborate virtual realities specially formulated to match their personalities and desires. Which brings us to this simple thread. Assuming that Perfect States match the idealistic fantasies that we all daydream from time to time, what would your personal State be like? Personally, I think that my State would basically enable me to be the Doctor from Doctor Who. I would live in a vast and procedurally generated setting with joint fantasy and science fiction elements, which I would explore with some kind of magical ship that enables me to traverse through time and space. I'd arrive on planets just on the cusp of war or some natural disaster, and using only my wits and inexplicable charisma would save the day, earning the praise and admiration of the masses before running back to my ship and setting sail for another distant part of the cosmos. ... Ahem. What would your Perfect State be like? If there were a world programmed entirely to enable you to be the hero of your daydreams, what would it look like?
  3. It wasn't my favorite Sanderson novella--in fact, I'm afraid I'd have to rank it as my least favorite. But I enjoyed it nonetheless. I made for a splendid morning read. Something that jumped out at me while reading the story. When "Sophie" hacks Kai's Lancing to power it via electricity, she claims that the hack slipped and that the Lancing is actually powered by heat instead. When the robot picks Kai up in its claw, Melhi laughs and claims that the robot is protected from heat absorption. What itched at me while reading was that there was no way Melhi could have predicted that Kai would be draining heat à la Obliteration; how then, did Melhi not only immediately understand how his Lancing had been modified, and how had (s)he already designed the robot to counter it? Because "Sophie" didn't slip. Powering Melhi's Lancing through heat was just another part of the plan, as was his victory. The whole battle was scripted from start to finish, and Kai danced like a puppet to Melhi's strings. I love how I never have to worry about plot holes in a Brandon Sanderson story--everything in the narrative is there for a purpose.
  4. I didn't get a permission slip to attend this existentialist trip.
  5. Not sparkly enough for you? ...Wait. Am I the guy who gets thrown out the window?
  6. Inspired by the Sanderson Memes becoming popular elsewhere on the site.
  7. An unstoppable force of fun would meet an unmovable object of stickiness. It's impossible to predict the outcome.
  8. Maybe they meant that he was golden at heart? Congratulations.
  9. That is somehow ridiculous, laughable, and utterly terrifying at the same time.
  10. Soulcaster!Funtimes is almost as cool as Mistborn!Funtimes. ...Though neither of them are quite as awesome as Awakener!Funtimes.
  11. That actually sounds more like a swear word to me. "Would somebody get me a fracking cup of coffee?" Maybe I just spend too much time around foul-mouthed people.
  12. I too failed to notice the "not serious" tag on the thread at first.
  13. Mistborn series: Stormlight Archive (end of WoR, specifically): General Reckonerverse:
  14. Society for Supporting Mentally Troubled Resurrectors (Lightwards, the Financier, Paladin.)
  15. Woohoo!
  16. Firstborn, right?
  17. More pony memes!
  18. I don't have any plans for Backtrack for after the destruction of Portland, so anything's possible.
  19. I like to imagine that the mayor of Cloudsdale is a stern former military pegasus named Swift Justice.

  20. It's already forgotten. On-topic, I'd swear the Windrunner oaths just so I could call myself "Surge Protector."
  21. I strongly disagree. Marking spoilers as pertaining to specific books is important, but there is certainly a point in warning other members exactly which book is being spoiled before a statement. Not every member of the forum has read every Cosmere book, and while such members are taking a risk by viewing this thread, there's no reason to dissuade others from being thoughtful towards those individuals. A little consideration goes a long way, is what I'm saying.
  22. Backtrack never could resist a damsel in distress.
  23. Stormlight:
