You picked a great forum to get into! This was my first ever forum, and it has me well and truly enamored on every level. Hope to see you around! There's treasure in every thread 'round these parts.

I can understand anticipation for Stones Unhallowed, but I think that belittling all the content of a Calamity thread save for the tiny piece of Stormlight news is kind of disrespectful, both for fans of the Reckoners and for Sanderson himself. Maybe it's just me.

There's some very interesting stuff there, like the fact that he'd published the first book before outlining the rest of the trilogy. That explains some of the differences between Firefight vs Steelheart I suppose. Now, to rant for a minute: I'm more than a little annoyed by the commenters further down the post talking about how Stormlight 3 coming soon is "the best news to come out of this post." But then, I suppose that's why I'm on a lovely forum like this one and not on Reddit.

Having a Bad Day? Stop here for a Good Rant!
Kobold King replied to traceria's topic in General Discussion
Speak life. God has a plan for us all, and I'm sure that He's just waiting for the perfect time to send you out in the world. Don't think of yourself as a Pawn that sits still because it's useless to the game--you're a Queen, too vital to move until the perfect time presents itself. You'll be put into motion when you're needed most, and the game could depend on you being in just the place God wants you. So try to bear that in mind when an application isn't right for you. I refuse to believe you're anything but the winning move, and you'll be shown where you're supposed to go when the time is right. -
Having a Bad Day? Stop here for a Good Rant!

This isn't much of an immediate consolation, but I'm still praying that you find a wonderful employment in a place ideally suited to your many talents. -
I enjoyed the thought of Calamity being an eldritch abomination from beyond the stars, but given his humanoid form it seems likely that he will have had some connection to NASA. One thing to bear in mind is that according to Regalia, Calamity occasionally assigns powers based on their thematic appropriateness. Which implies... interesting things, I'm sure.

Hey, my theory made it to the second round of speculation. I haven't given up hope that Calamity isn't native to our planet at all, and is actually an entity from a parallel universe. Perhaps a portal to this other universe was opened by NASA?

Seriously? That's awesome for you guys. I'm still thinking of how to sell tickets for the next big Dalles fight.

Sadly, the legal complications possible on our end would be one of the reasons it's so unlikely to happen.

If Brandon Sanderson so much as namedropped one of my Epics, I'd be too busy squealing with joy to so much as pronounce the phrase "mental property."

I have absolutely no plans for Glamour, so I'd definitely be open to something like that. Taylor would have to fess up to having killed a guard, and would need to join the City Guard for a while in order to get in an ideal coup position, but overall it sounds like a neat arc. It'd be interested if it involves Epics no longer being corrupted by their powers, forming a more traditional superhero universe. There'd still be villains, but the world would quickly start becoming a much less crappy place.

Hard to say. Technically he was following orders by engaging one of the invaders, but he caused heavy infrastructure damage and led an Epic straight into the armory, indirectly causing the deaths of two soldiers. So Vondra will be furious with him for letting his fighting frenzy get the better of him, but he won't face any long-term consequences since nobody really expects Deathwish to comply with them. It's part of the sad state of The Dalles right now that even with Vondra in charge, Epics can still do enormous damage without the accountability for their actions vanillas face. Both. Very definitely both.

So... does that mean Deathwish won by technicality? 'Cuz that's what he'll tell everybody.

Guess the fight's over, then. It was fun. I can have Deathwish arrested now, by the way, so it won't be a big deal to have him brought to the command center to await Vondra's interrogation.

Yes, yes you can. I haven't written as many Glamour posts yet so it takes longer for me to get his voice down, and I've been trying to keep the momentum going in the twin scenes. (See what I did there? ) In any event, I'll try to get Glamour's reaction posted along with the next Backtrack/Deathwish post.

I edited the last Dalles post so that Impact didn't catch the grenade that was thrown to her, just so everyone's aware. Apparently Voidus "Doesn't want to liquefy her just yet," so I've gotta avoid being too rough. Deathwish would totally have just won this battle though. Just for the record.

Feel free to go. Upon hearing the radio alert Vondra will get angry fast, but I can see Autumn quickly defusing his temper and suggesting a reasonable course of action. If you want to share snippets of your post before publishing, I can supply a couple lines of dialogue to move the story along.

That'd be helpful, yes. It wouldn't hurt to point out that if Deathwish went rogue, the first thing he'd do is kill Vondra, so the safest place for him to be is in the command center. Vondra has a rather gung-ho method of governing, so he needs a voice of reason to keep him from personally donning a jetpack and attacking Deathwish in the air or something.

Hmm... he'd want to lead the team himself, but if someone reasonable that he trusted--for instance, Autumn--convinced him that it would be better for the city if he delegated it, he'd listen to her. After that the Autumn/Vondra conversation can progress without interruption.

OK, something I just realized: Impact's false alarm about Deathwish's betrayal will have Vondra immediately organizing a neutralization team to assess the situation at the armory. This could interrupt his and Autumn's briefing time. Twi, any thoughts on how to orchestrate this?

That could be interesting. Could we let him have the weirdest conversation ever with Backtrack?
