  1. I think "becoming Batman" is the third option, but it requires seeing your parents murdered and then punching a clown.
  2. You either die of malnutrition from eating fettuccine alfredo all the time, or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain.
  3. Prediction: TwiLyght grows increasingly insane in her attempts at making her family like egg drop soup, to the point to where she makes it for them three times a week to pressure them into liking it. The circle that began with fettuccine alfredo will then be complete. And agreed. Lark, that is one of the most awesome signatures I've seen on the site.
  4. Babaji logic:
  5. Would a clone of Miles be capable of exactly the same Allomantic and Feruchemical combination, or would his sDNA be subtly different?
  6. Calamity dang it. I doubt that, but thanks. Well, the Panda's going to deliver one final assault on the next game day before he leaves. Maybe Ozy could meet a hero's end helping to turn him back?
  7. Huh. The second time was intentional, but the first time was a result of my shuffling the word around the sentence and forgetting to take a much-needed visit to Thesaurus.com. Thanks again for the criticism. I'm swiftly learning that I need to create at least two drafts before posting anything new.
  8. Thanks for reading it. Yeah, the lack of description was my biggest gripe with it too. I wrote it in a hurry in between two time-sensitive chores, and I never went back and did a second draft. The final Anguish battle will definitely be a priority when I make adjustments, as well the technological achievements of the black planet's creatures. Again, thanks for reading and double thanks for the criticism. It's good to hear wiser thoughts than my own on my writing, even when it's something I hammered out in thirty minutes based on a cliche and derivative idea.
  9. Well I posted it on the Random Stuff thread, but the original's here. Not trying to be pushy or anything. If you're not interested in it, that's fine and I'll won't bother you about it.
  10. That's a little better. And in actually writing Anguish as a character, I intend to downplay the sadism that's often present in fictional AIs in favor of a homicidal computer that's pushed more by empathy than anything else. It sounds weird, but it's shaping well in my head. Twi, would you happen to have seen the brief tale I wrote for LarkoftheRiver's Star Trek RP? To be honest I was kind of hoping for some kind of commentary or criticism from someone, since I was experimenting heavily with a writing style I haven't touched before.
  11. ... Darn. This is what you get for not reading a classic work of sci-fi and then shooting for originality in your own.
  12. Forgive me for my ignorance, but who exactly is space AM?
  13. I declare that this cannot go wrong!
  14. Tell me where they live and I'll sneak into their house in the middle of the night and yell at them for their sloppy housekeeping.
  15. Thanks. I'll still try to get that done soon, though. Hope you manage to come back someday. And even if not, I hope you have as much fun as we will. Same goes for you if you're reading this, Kipper.
  16. Indeed, you will be missed Slowswift. I'll try to get that done soon.
  17. No pug pictures? Mysterious Force drawing away members? Well it seems I have no choice but to abandon the RP altogether. Goodbye eve, I'll remember you all in therapy.
  18. And now, allow me to present Lullaby for a Sanderfan. Using screenshots from this spectacular animation.
  19. An alien counselor/bard? That sounds like a cool character to write. I will look forward to hearing about these characters of yours. AND SWEET CELESTIA THAT CREATURE IS MAGNIFICENT I fully support the King Fisher being present on one of the planets our intrepid explorers lands on at some point.
  20. Fascinating answer! You get a cookie. Yeah... I'm not a woman, so correct me if I'm wrong, but last I read the fairer sex didn't possess magic belly buttons that radiated heat. So comic!Storm would be in for a rough time trying to wade through a snowstorm of her own creation. (And I kind of want to see a WHOOC now where Khione and Storm get into an argument about this, just for the record. ) Oddly enough--and apologies if this isn't appropriate for conversation--there are some women in African societies who genuinely prefer certain kinds of clothing we regard as immodest. Although in the cases I've read about, it was mostly breasts rather than midriffs. The anecdote I read about was about a missionary who gifted the women of a tribe t-shirts, because traditionally they went topless all day. The women were delighted with the t-shirts, but upon taking them home immediately cut out holes in the chests so their breasts would still be visible. I'm not sure whether it was a cultural quirk of theirs or whether the women simply found it more comfortable that way, but it's still an interesting (and somewhat amusing) case of clashing cultures. Still doesn't excuse Storm not wearing more pragmatic clothes, though. 'Cuz I doubt the comic artists had in-depth cultural commentary in mind when they drew her. As for female characters in general: yes. Ugh. I hate it when "strong female character" is presented in media as "can beat anyone in a fight, and is completely contemptuous of the male characters, often threatening to do physical violence on them for small transgressions." That, Hollywood, isn't called being strong and independent. That's called being a thug, regardless of sex. I wish Storm's identity as an African weather goddess had been explored in the movies, since I haven't read any of the comics. What do you think of Halle Berry's portrayal of Storm in the X-Men movies?
  21. Er, sorry. Ooh, that could work. He could be their guide to the new galaxy they've found themselves in, telling them some about the major cultures and civilizations they encounter there. And if this sort of thing interests people, he could tell occasional stories about the history of the galaxy, like the story he told about Anguish. When do we get to hear some about the characters you'll be playing? I'm especially intrigued by your android OC.
  22. I wrote a thing for the Star Trek RP LarkoftheRiver is running. I'll post it here too, in case anyone's interested. Like this? Come join the RP and participate in the ongoing story! We're planning on keeping this a fairly lax game, so no worries if you won't be able to post often. Dislike this? By all means, send me a PM and enumerate everything you hated about it. I'm game for some criticism.
  23. Ouch. Have you considered maybe drawing frogs, or something else that doesn't have fur? In other news, allow me to post a brief tale about my character for this here RP. One vague idea I had was that the crew of the Federation ship, with all the other players on board, could possibly stumble across Anguish's prison and wind up releasing her somehow. Of course, that's all up to Lark and anyone else who's playing a Federation character. I was also considering making the Morelthian storyteller a minor character with occasional PoVs.
  24. Hah, no worries. Because you checked it in an email the site didn't register you as having read it, so I wasn't entirely sure if you'd even gotten the message. I'll wait until you read it and tell me precisely where I need to post it. And by all means, take your time. I can be quite a long-winded fellow sometimes, so if you need to skim, go ahead. (Hope your hands feel better soon. I don't draw, but I can imagine how terrible realistic fur must be to draw. Do you have to draw every line individually? )
  25. Sorry for the double post, but would you mind if I just posted it here for evaluation? It could also function as the first post of the thread, so I'd like some feedback on it.
