But when holding stormlight, they don't need to breathe. Also, that doesn't answer the question. If it's their soul which determines how well they hold onto stormlight, what does an open mouth have to do with it? Surely, if it's down to the soul, then they'd need to have an open soul to leak stormlight? The open mouth should mean nothing, if it's all down to their soul.

If it's their soul which determines how effectively they can hold onto Stormlight... Why would the mouth being open have ANY effect at all?

The Good News Thread: I'm So Excited! And I Just Can't Hide It!

This reminds me of when Words of Radiance first came out. I had bought a first edition hardback, however had missed my chance to get the WoK first edition hardback. Then, just a few short weeks later, I was in a second hand bookstore (where I never, ever found Brandon's novels), and there it was, sitting on a shelf, tucked away in an obscure corner of the store. The US first edition of Way of Kings, for less than half the cover price, and in pristine condition. That was also a good day! -
Nightblood... The Cosmere's most highly invested hemalurgic spike?

And you don't think there are hints to something traumatic in Lift's childhood? We may not know the details, but I think the signs are there.

I think he's going to die early book 5. Dalinar's story arc is going to be about reaching Adolin in the spiritual realm, and that's going to provide the pieces needed to restore May's, and thus the other dead Blades.

Well clearly! This is what happens when you abandon your children Dark Side, Dad, ever heard of it?

This gives me an idea which kinda ties into my theory about the Unmade being connected to the Heralds. Popular theory has it Chanaranach is Shallan's mother, and closest guess we can come up with for the corresponding Unmade is Chemoarish. Neither of which we know much about. One of Chana's prime features is that she cares, she protects. Take this away from her and you have an abusive mother who doesn't really care how she hurts those around her. Chemoarish, we know next to nothing about other than she's called the Dustmother. I think this is likely some reference to the Dustbringers, and as such, she is imbued with a powerful destructive force. Kind of like if you took someone's powerful protective instincts and subverted them. So, how it ties in with this thread... What if Chemoarish was trying to reconnect with Chanaranach while she was giving birth to Shallan? Giving birth is a pretty traumatic experience for both mother and child, and in trying to exploit the cracks in Chana's spirit web, Chemoarish cracked Shallan's spirit web wide open. It would put Shallan in the perfect position to be bonded young by a Cryptic, because the household would be filled with lies and despair - a mother that doesn't care about the family, the father trying desperately to cope and protect the children, and the children wishing a million fantasies a day could be true instead of reality.

Assuming the theory of Shallan being Chanarach's daughter is true, could the "trauma" of beng born to a seriously damaged Herald cause cracks to form? I think it's likely.

Actually, I was just trying to work out exactly how screwed I am here, so thanks

Honestly, TJ, I almost feel like a new player, lol. You've got a load of new terms for things, and while the core game is there, this is still a lot more complicated than the last time I played. Back then, everyone had one, maybe two powers for most games, and trying to work out the roles was part of the fun. Now, there are still roles, but everyone being Mistborn almost pushes them into the background. I'm not really sure where all the interest in me has come from, other than this RB thing on N1, which is both somewhat entertaining as it served no purpose, and frustrating because it looks like it's going to kill me. I think Illwei's vote is on me now, so I'll place my vote on Archer right now to keep us balanced. Other than to preserve my life, a noble goal in it's own right, lol, I don't like how he's set this train up. He pushes the vote onto me, using the RB claim, and then once it's taken hold, he's slipped off to vote for someone else. Bort (3*): JNV, Drake Marshall, Mat, Illwei? Archer (3*): Illwei?, Kasimir, _Stick_, TJ Szeth_Pancakes (1): Araris Valerian Biplet (1): Archer Drake Marshall (1): Tani @Illwei - You need to retract a vote in green if you're placing a new one. Edit: Forgot to add - @DrakeMarshall - Now that I'm awake enough to interpret your meme post... Very clever. Well played

Oh, yeah. You did. At the time, I was thinking they were pretty much the same thing, and apparently I wasn't far wrong. Thanks for the clarification though.

No, I mean just Player A and Player B. Player A puts a bubble up around Players A and B. If Player B were to do something to Player A then, I'd guess it would go through fine, as it's within the bubble? No redirects? As in, multiple Nicrosil/Duralumin boosts could apply to the same, say, Iron, or Copper vial?

You'll have to explain the term "Red Wedding." Obvious connotations being GoT, mass murder of specific people, so my guess is elim tactic to get as many down at the same time as possible? And reading through QF30, I don't recall playing in that one (although was obviously there), but it does look like it was fun.

I might have more thoughts on this if I had submitted a kill order on N1, but I didn't, so you're wrong. Sorry. The way I see it, there are three ways they could have done this... 2 Steel Vials, 1 Steel/1 Duralumin, or 1 Steel/1 Nicrosil. Meaning the elims either still have a Steel vial and boosted it with a doubler, as you put it, or they used both N1 and N2 vials on N2. This is, of course, assuming that you were right, and that I submitted a kill and was RB'ed as claimed. The only other way an elim kill could have been stopped would be by leeching their Steel away, meaning that they'd only have 1 Steel for N2. Oh! No! 4 ways, given the GM's rules clarification late last cycle. If the N1 kill was submitted, but delayed, then it wouldn't have applied until N2. See @Archer? Many ways of doing what they did without me being an elim. Edit: Speaking of the rules clarifications, I figured it might be an idea to take a closer look...

Maybe... I was just thinking though, how I don't think we've had any reference to Topaz chips, marks, or broams. What if it's a literal thing... Topaz becomes worthless... Because Hoid betrayed Roshar? I'm not sure what the specifics would be though.
-
@TheCollector I'm fairly sure you're right. It was Topaz.
