lol She is a force of nature unto herself! Like a very hungry Highstorm True neither Herald has bonded a spren yet, but they were the two Dalinar was waiting for/looking for as the Radiants gathered to him after he declared himself UNITY, so I figured that was setting them up as future POV/Flashback Radiants in the back 5

Should I sign up for the Cosmere RPG?
athosdebro86 replied to Trusk'our's topic in General Brandon Discussion
My thought is that you'll end up saving money by getting the books on the backerkit/kickstarter late pledge, since the hardcopies will come with free pdfs, and I think the books will end up being more expensive when released separately. I ordered the books on the kickstarter for that reason and to get them as soon as they released. Can't wait until the PDFs for the stormlight ones come out in the summer! -
I believe this is the first canon appearance. It's first non-canon being in Dragonsteel Prime

Nale is an agent of Cultivation?
athosdebro86 replied to Ninth of the Night's topic in Cosmere Discussion
The upcoming Stormlight RPG's first published adventure "Stonewalker" is supposed to give some answers about how Nightblood got from Cultivation to Naln. It may offer some more insights once it's published -
Each of the 10 orders of Radiants was represented at the Battle of Thaylen City in Oathbringer. Each of those representatives is definitely NOT a typical example of their Order. Each is unique in a strange and fascinating way. - Kaladin: first Windrunner. Mysterious "Son of Tanavast" title. When he broke his oaths in Words of Radiance, Syl didn't become a deadeye the way Testament did when Shallan broke her oaths as a child. Something wonderously strange going on here. Also, he's the ONLY Windrunner with a bonded Honorspren that was alive before the Recreance. - Shallan: first Lightweaver. TWO BONDED CRYPTICS!!! - Dalinar: first Bondsmith. The Stormfather is altered from what he originally was when he started bonding Bondsmiths, giving Dalinar a lot more access to Honor's powers than past Bondsmiths - Venli: first Willshaper. She's a REGAL RADIANT. Having a voidspren in her gemheart (even if its impact on her is neutralized by her lightspren Timbre) lets her use VOIDLIGHT or Stormlight for her Surgebinding. - Szeth: first of a new line of Skybreakers not bound to Naln. While this is not as intrinsically or mechanically out of the norm from other Skybreakers, Szeth's highspren hasn't named itself to him, and Szeth has Nightblood and the whole situation of having his soul stapled back onto his body to be resurrected. Not sure how that big gapping soul wound is going to impact his Skybreaker nature, or if he's become something like a Cognitive Shadow. - Renarin: first Truthwatcher. His mistspren Glys is "enlightened/corrupted." He has only used Stormlight so far, but has access to Fortune-esque future sight through the spiritual affinity the 'enlightening/corrupting' gave to Glys. Illumination is not working normally for him. - Lift: first Edgedancer. She's...Lift. Uses LIFELIGHT, not stormlight, and doesn't breathe either in, instead converting food into Lifelight. She can touch spren in the Physical Realm, can enter Spiritual visions uninvited. She's definitely unique - Ash: Dustbringer (by default, this is the only Order left for her to have). A HERALD. That's got to do interesting things with the Nahel Bond. She's also very different since the Order she guided was the LIGHTWEAVERS, but her madness takes the form of destroying idols and images of herself. Feels like a good resonance (pun intended) for the Ashspren tendency to break things - Taln: Stoneward. A HERALD. And a Herald who has LIVED HIS ORDER'S VIRTUE for 10,000 years!!! His Cognitive Shadow nature may do interesting things with the Nahel Bond. - Jasnah: first, and so far ONLY, Elsecaller. Oddly, Jasnah seems, as far as we know, to be the least unusual compared to other members of her Order, except for the fact that she is the ONLY member of her Order through the first 4 books, and the first Urithiru Radiant to reach the 4th Ideal (We know there are 4th Ideal skybreakers under Naln). I wonder if that vague reference we get from time to time of her childhood 'illness' and 'betrayal' of those who loved her could come into play here...

Perhaps the Dustbringers that left ended up joining the free Listeners? Supporting the Listeners seems in line with the Ashspren distrust of humans (which I find inconsistent with deciding to bond humans at all, but as we've not heard ANY non-Diagram Dustbringers speak to that, I hope we'll find out soon, though perhaps not until the Dustbringer book in the back half)

-REALLY Curious about why VALOR would be hiding from Odium, or indeed anyone. She was willing to talk with Harmony and Hoid, so it seems she's specifically shielding her presence from Odium. -WHAT is the "Right Thing" that Cultivation is hoping that Taravangian will do??? Could have to do with the Cultivation comment of making him someone "who could bear this power [Odium] with honor."??? -Taravangian is MUCH more willing to ask (and LISTEN to) for advice than his predecessor. He asked Hoid who to choose a champion, he asked El for advice on the fights about to happen in WaT, he was willing to see what Cultivation wanted to show him, even though he initially twisted the intended lesson.

Perhaps Lifelight+Voidlight = HuntLight?

[ROW Spoiler question] Who all can accept Oaths??
athosdebro86 replied to athosdebro86's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Fair point, given the nature of the Sibling. I've edited the original post -
A Femalin voice accepted Venli's oath. Before RoW the ONLY voice we've heard accept oaths was Storm Father. As Tanavast's Cognitive Shadow, it made sense, but to be fair, he's a God-Spren Bondsmith Spren, and the oaths we've heard him accept were Dalinar's (his own bondsmith) and Windrunner oaths (the order closest to Honor based on Adhesion being Honor's Surge). In RoW: The Sibling accepted Navani's bondsmith oath (Sibling is another Godspren Bondsmith spren, so makes sense. BUT can they accept anyone else's oaths IF they are sworn in the Tower?) DALINAR?!??! Accepted Kaladin's 4th Oath!!!!! (as stated in Oathbringer, due to changes made to Stormfather before Honor's death, Dalinar-Stormfather's brand of bondsmith is different than usual, plus Dalinar has some link to the Spiritual Realm that even Stormfather can't feel AND Rayse said Dalinar ASCENDED in Oathbringer, perhaps in the way that Rashek ASCENDED temporarily in Mistborn) A mysterious Femalen voice accepted Venli's Oath (As Sibling and Stormfather have both accepeted oaths, is this Nightwatcher???? OR IS IT CULTIVATION!!? Cultivation DOES have a habit of stepping in instead of Nightwatcher at specific moments (Lift, Dalinar, Taravangian Old Magic materials). And the Progression of Radiants through their Oaths seems to be Cultivation's influence (growing spiritually) in Surgebinding AND Progression seems to be Cultivation's Surge (Lift could still use it the way Kaladin could still use Adhesion when Raboniel reversed the Tower's defenses) Hypothesis: ALL THREE BONDSMITH SPREN can accept oaths. The Shardholders of Honor and Cultivation (historically and in present and future) can accept oaths as they are linked to the Magic system the way Harmony is linked to all 3 Metallic Arts.

ARS ARCANUM SPECULATION: book 1 had 2 surges in the Ars Arcanum (Lashing = Gravitation & Adhesion. makes sense, Windrunner book), book 2 had a 3rd surge (Lightweaving = Illumination. makes sense, Lightweaver book), book 3 had a 4th surge (Soulcasting = Transformation. didn't fit the book's radiant order focus, but it did finish up the Lightweaver's Surges), book 4 had a 5th surge (Stoneshaping = Cohesion. makes sense, Willshaper book). I speculate that: BOOK 5 ARS ARCANUM will add Division as the 6th Surge (Skybreaker book, and Gravitation is already covered); BOOK 6 ARS ARCANUM will add Abrasion as the 7th Surge (Edgedancer book); BOOK 7 ARS ARCANUM will add Progression as the 8th Surge (Truthwatcher book, will finish both Truthwatcher and Edgedancer Surges); BOOK 8 Ars Arcanum will add Transportation as the 8th Surge (Finish out both Willshaper and Elsecaller Surges, since both Dustbringer Surges would be covered aready); BOOK 9 Ars Arcanum will add Tension as the 10th Surge (Stoneward book and finishes Bondsmith Surges); BOOK 10 Ars Arcanum would have all 10 Surges and perhaps notes on the Resonances of each Order. Any thoughts?

How would a Nicrosil Ferring or "Soulburst" manage to fill his or her metalminds? As a Ferring, they have no ability to store any other metal's attributes yes? And Investiture (the quality that is stored and tapped in Nicrosil) is not a human trait, but pure magic in the Cosmere. A full Feruchemist can simple drain one of his other metals' metalminds to convert that stored power into Investiture to fill a nicrosil mind. a twinborn with nicrosil feruchemical powers could store power as it is released from his allomantic 'burning.' But a Ferring, only able to store or tap 1 metal would have no other source of investiture to draw upon to store in a metal mind. or would a meditation techinaque allow them to draw in investiture spiritually and funnel pure investiture into their metalmind? Just things i think about lol. Any thoughts?

Hi all, i'm new here and just wanted to ask more experienced 17th Sharders here their thoughts on the grouping of remaining Shards & major Shardworlds. Thus far the books have revealed: Preservation & Ruin (Harmony) on Scadrial (Mistborn world) - both holders deceased. New holder holds both Devotion & Dominion on Sel (Elantris & Emperor's Soul) - both holders deceased Endowment on Nalthis (Warbreaker) - holder alive but unnamed Honor & Cultivation on Roshar (Stormlight) - Honor deceased, Cultivation alive but unnamed. Odium on Braize but invested in Roshar (Stormlight) - Rayse, alive. Unknown disease effecting Shard on Ashyn (Silence Divine info from signings & forums) - holder unnamed, no idea if he/she still lives so close to Odium. Bavadin's Shard on Taldain (White Sands info from forums and coppermind.net) - Bavadin still alive if the Letter is any guide. That leaves 6 shards & their holders unaccounted for (though one is called Survival on Coppermind) & 2 unnamed worlds & Yolen (Dragonsteel & Liar info from coppermind.net) I read on one of the forums that there's a "Wandering" Shard that is on no planet, leaving 5 Shards spread accross the 3 as yet Shard-less worlds. UNLESS Bavain's Shard and the Shard on Ashyn have roommates (worldmates?). So far there's been only 1-3 Shard on any given world. I'm guessing Odium wouldn't be a pleasant roommate (forget the security deposit or the furniture ever coming back), so we could safely discount a second Shard on Braize. Any thoughts? or have I left anything out? By the way I LOVE THE COSMERE!
