  1. Sweet. Good to nail down the nature of Investiture (though I hadn't expected it to be "transcendent"): I had this horrified thought in the back of my mind that it was partially Cognitive or something and all that I thought I knew was wrong. I suppose I shouldn't have expected anything else from the Hoid/Nightblood question.
  2. Excellent theory. I fully support this, and remind me to espouse it later. I myself was trying to figure out how to properly compare the grayness of Lifeless with Shard-severing, but I think this'll do.
  3. Forgive me if its been said, but we may be over thinking this. From Peter: https://twitter.com/peterahlstrom/status/443412977635442688 @PeterAhlstrom: @stacksandreels It's a code and the key is somewhere else in the book.
  4. No, no recent discussion. It's just been gnawing at me for the last while, since I'm partly to blame for the forum-wide assumption that Investiture is Spiritual, and we have a few suggestions that it might not be. It's just the kind of thing we really should nail down by now.
  5. Syl said in WoK that Kaladin dying would make it so that she reverted back to her stupid-self, so it looks like simple death of the Radiant isn't the same as betrayal of their Oaths.
  6. I think this is likely a fruitful route. Brandon did say the key was in the book, after all.
  7. It's written in-universe, so I hazard this particular blurb is fairly trustworthy.
  8. Ooh, here's an interesting one: "Would holding Nightblood make Hoid feel nauseous?" This is essentially asking what Hoid's ambitions/goals/motives are, but in a clever and cosmerical way.
  9. No, actually, he hasn't. He's only said that only humans are KR. A subtle distinction.
  10. It's on the back cover of WoR.
  11. One basic question that we really should have asked by now is "What is the Realmatic composition of Investiture? Is it primarily Spiritual, an even mix of Spiritual and Cognitive, or something else?"
  12. Oh, harsh. The forum's been a bit temperamental since the release, probably due to all the traffic. In the future, I'd advise a bit of CTRL-C before hitting "Add Reply" on anything of significant length. EDIT: @Romek To be fair, there's also a fairly heavy amount of interview/Q&A stuff you need to know about to participate fully in mid- to high-level cosmerical discussion.
  13. What part of WoR, specifically, did you find so "cosmere-spoiled", to coin a phrase? The only part I can think of who's impact really depended on cosmere knowledge was the Nightblood reveal. I think you'll find that most of the "cosmere requirements" (to coin another phrase) are our fault as a community here on 17s. Our discussion usually includes cosmere goodies: so I'll agree that in-depth discussion and predictions seem to require cosmere knowledge, but I do not agree that that knowledge is needed for the simple consumption of the books. Brandon has stated that he wants to keep cosmere stuff in the background in Stormlight, and I think he generally does. True, there's a bit more than usual in WoR, but it's a big book with a lot of stuff happening and the cosmere stuff can safely be filed under "unknown but likely scary thing" for the casual reader.
  14. If you're serious about this, here's a dump of all the links I've collected since WoR's release. There might be some repeats to yours:
  15. Those are the Thaylen alphabet, and Harakeke has already decoded it. It's just a naval chart, and those are numbers for longitude.
  16. No, I doubt it does. For one, the metals aren't actually the source of the allomantic powers. For another, the expression of Allomancy is tied into the makeup of the allomancer in question.
  17. (Double post, but this is new info). New WoB just came in. Brandon essentially says that Vasher eats Stormlight.
  18. Excellent. Warbreaker Spoilers
  19. Breath can be stored in any metal, it seems, so no need to be quite so specific.
  20. Nice. I had my suspicions about Rock, but it's good to get confirmation.
  21. I doubt that'd help. While a lot of things can be hand-waved by perception, the Returned requirement for Breath looks to be one of energy: if they don't eat Breath, they don't have any juice. See: Lightsong growing weaker as feeding time approaches. That's not the kind of thing you can shake off by saying a week is shorter or longer.
  22. Sweet, thanks for that. *Goes to edit Coppermind* EDIT: And now I'm getting some freaky formatting when I try to add the world to the character/place boxes. Help?
  23. Quite right. Spoiled now.
