  1. If you'd like to define it that way I suppose it works. Another thing is that I think you might be off with how you justify Awakening. There are 1-Breath Commands, and I don't see why any random Nalthian who's had the same Breath since birth oughtn't to be able to use them. Now in this case you could potentially talk about Endowment being all Endowy in how s/he set it up, but I don't think "they're all just swapping around Breaths all the time!" will cut it.
  2. We have some WoB that casts serious doubt on this. Source: The emphasis on "theoretically" was in the original, so I'd say that it'd most definitely not the norm.
  3. Yeah, I definitely wouldn't say that Forging fits in with this scheme. I think you make a very unwarranted assumption when you say that everyone's going around getting Forged left and right. Especially in the Rose Empire, the only way to get stamped would be through Resealing, and I don't see all the faceless "Rememberers" being of high enough socioeconomic status to have all been Resealed at some point. At the very least it'd have been mentioned in-text if there was such a requirement. Also, it appears that birth is all one needs for get a "connection" to any given region on Sel. Source: @Hoodie No problem. That particular WoB is bookmarked for me because of how surprised I was when I found it.
  4. Well we know that he was using some kind of magic in that scene that we are capable of spotting. On top of that it's been pseudo-confirmed by Brandon that he was drinking metals.
  5. Hmm. I'll need to put some thought into this. One thing to recall is that emotional extremes on either end of the spectrum will do the job for snapping. http://brandonsanderson.com/annotation-Mistborn-3-Chapter-Seventy/
  6. Fresh! Welcome back. No, nothing really major Realmatically. No one has done a big mondo-everything thread in a while.
  7. Well now you've gone and done it... :/ I apologize for what I'm about to do to you, but I refer you to the "Forms and Forgery" link in my sig. There you will find over-detailed reasons why Forgery very likely does not really "change" anything about an object, on a fundamental level. The short argument, though, for why Forging!=pseudo-Soulcasting: A Forged object is still of the same "type" no matter what, and it needs a continual input of magic-ness to stay Forged. Pop the stamp off and it's the original object. When magic stops being applied in Forging, the object reverts: in Soulcasting, that go let will stay blood forever.
  8. Forging quite explicitly works through "changing" an object's past. At the point when we're no longer within those bounds, we're no longer talking about Forging, I don't think.
  9. Possible typo: Page 185 of US hardback, Rysn Interlude: "...they could still sell what they had--but at a stiff devastating loss..." Should "stiff" and "devastating" be crammed together like that? Or was it meant to be only one of them, or perhaps a comma between?
  10. He almost certainly was, from the text of Warbreaker. Beyond that, recall that Warbreaker was meant to be a "prequel" to Zahel on Roshar: I doubt that the prequel to a worldhopper's worldhopping has a prequel that involves worldhopping.
  11. Interesting theory. A fair number of good arguments/evidence on each side, though. One thing to keep in mind is that all of this needn't of have necessarily been stagnant since day X or Y in history. Spren are all about human perception and whatnot, so I imagine that the Ideals of various types could have developed/evolved/devolved over time, perhaps even all "naturally" without anyone specifically trying to change them.
  12. Interesting idea.
  13. No problem: I've found some of my favorite anime through recommendations from others like this, so I figure I should pay it forward. I quite like both Mirai Nikki and Psycho Pass (they're both on the "wouldn't have even looked at if someone hadn't recommended it" list), but they are very dark shows. Peter keeps saying how the opening of SAO is bleak, and it is, but compared to those two (especially Psycho-Pass...)... Then again, you've watched and liked Attack on Titan and FMA:B, and those aren't exactly made of pure sunshine and rainbows either (I've never seen Cowboy Bebop (yes, a crime, I know)). I'd recommend watching at least a handful of each, but don't be shocked if it's not your thing. Also, fair warning for Accel World: I have it on good authority that the show tanks at the start of a new arc halfway through its run. It ends on a good enough place before that, so I'd actually recommend just stopping there.
  14. Well I can tell you that Mirai Nikki and Psycho Pass are very different from the shows you listed as favorites.
  15. Good catch. This has been discussed before, but it's an old topic and it's impressive that you saw this independently.
  16. Thank you very much RShara. It's very important for us to get this exact phrasing.
  17. We can be more blunt, I think. Something like "You've said 'You can't bond an honorblade', yet clearly Szeth had some connection to his. Could you please clarify what you meant? Is it accurate to call Szeth's connection to his Blade a 'bond', and if not what would you call it?"
  18. To clarify this one a bit: Could you (very very much) please get some clarity on this whole "can people bond Honorblades" question? Source: People are interpreting this as "BUT HOW CAN SZETH BOND ONE THEN!?!?!?!!?", ( ) but it seems that there might either have been some mis-communication or that Brandon is trying to convey some subtlety about how they're "bestowed" or something, a subtlety that we've missed.
  19. Thanks for going through all that trouble, EnaMai. One favor: would you mind posting all the Q/A's in their entirety (no abbreviation beyond what's on the transcript already (for instance, the full text of the Hemalurgy answer)) here on this thread? It's best to have everything on the site for word-searching and the like, rather than having to go off-site to Google for our sources. I'd do it myself, but I don't want to steal your upvotes.
  20. A good analysis, Argent. While your at it asking Brandon questions about the Honorblade, could you please get some clarity on this "Honorblades can't be bonded" WoB? Something smells off about it, and I fear that we really must have misunderstood Brandon on that point.
  21. Steins;Gate's earlier episodes get retroactively better, btw.
  22. Hoid? I don't doubt that he's bonded one or two in his quest for Power.
  23. I fear that this might be lost in the noise, so I'd like to bring some new WoB to everyone's attention: Source: So that. I suppose we were all too quick to assume that Hoid was carrying around a second sword. And now I must say that I'm scared. Hoid might not be the most fuzzy of people, but I generally trust his intentions, or at the very least his general inactivity so far as potentially derailing plots and murdering main characters with super-weapons goes. I would have far preferred for Hoid to have added "Honorblade" to his list of powers and then called it a day, versus the disturbing possibility that some unknown party now possesses it. Alternatively, as I believe someone suggested on another thread, the Blade could be misty at the moment and Hoid still put in a regular Shardblade so that no one would be tempted to do evil unto Taln in order to get his.
  24. Yes. The Lightweaving section references Yolish and Sellian lightweaving. Why do you ask here?
