Remember the Kaladin flashback where the girl had fallen from the roof and lil'-Kal tried to save her?
-
Such has been suggested, though I don't recall if we have a verdict on it.
-
Maybe the Stormlight books have been split into parts in Germany, like in the UK? In that case, I'd imagine that WoK had two audiobooks and now the first part of WoR is being misleadingly identified as a "third" book.

Bookkeeping: As Outis and I were discussing just earlier today, that's not actually a good link. It's a search that has different results depending on a lot of factors: when linking to quotes in Theoryland, you want to at the very least make sure to link to the specific interview, if not the question within the interview.
-
Ah, my mistake then. I didn't catch your tone and so thought that you'd hastily pulled the link without recalling the details of the WoB (something I've been guilty of in the past). I read "bit" as a quote rather than scare quotes.
-
Thanks. That does give us some nice solid evidence; it does seem that those footnotes were based on something a bit older, though... That aside, some bookkeeping: That's a bad link, Outis: it points to a search (which search is empty for me, btw) rather than an interview/specific question. Here's the question's link.
-
Warning to all: Stones Unhallowed spoilers likely to follow at some point if people try and speculate on this question. *departs*

You're quite right that Brandon didn't say a "bit". He said "a lot" in the WoB that Green Hoodie linked to. In regard to "magnitudes", you're likely referring to this footnote (or maybe this one: there are a few quotes in the the database with the same/a similar footnote). While I don't necessarily think this claim is false, I have yet to actually find the foundational WoB that these footnotes are referencing.

Source: (paraphrase) Source: -- This is not really the right way to see it. Note how Crafty says that Brandon & Co. even looked over the House of Ashes novella, and that thing is rife with inconsistencies.

1. Well Spook lived, but there was some Harmonic intervention there and we didn't really see him afterwards. Nothing else I know of, unless you count Vin popping her spike in and out at will. Hint: You shouldn't. -But seriously, I've never gotten why some people seem to think that Susebron's prismatic effect somehow endows the objects with inherent color. - I don't recall any WoB on this, sorry. --- On the general "how do I find thing" question: The Coppermind, sadly, tends to be a bit behind on its details. A result of understaffed and overworked maintenance (I really should contribute a bit more... ) rather than malice or incompetence, but still something that has to be dealt with. My best advice (besides following those links that Green Hoodie was kind enough to post) is twofold: First, I'd suggest that you bookmark it whenever you come across a WoB where you go "huh, I didn't know that" or "I bet that'll come up later..." It can be quite useful down the road, trust me. Second—and this is helpful to everyone, so more's the joy—I'd suggest going the extra mile and both quoting and linking whenever you reference a WoB, and encouraging others to do the same. It's remarkably helpful all around when you can say "hm, <Person> mentioned something about that on this thread, so a quick Google..." and then bam, you've got the WoB. Half the time when I dig up old WoBs it's just a matter of finding an old post of mine.

Enhanced speed/strength of stormlight filled Kaladin

Myself I would judge that Plate more likely enhances a regular person by some flat (or at least mostly-independent) Y, as opposed to its benefits being a function of their basic "Awesomeness". Otherwise I can't see how wearing Plate would allow Dalinar to be on nearly equal footing with other Shardbearers (his general competence and race with Elhokar as the prime examples). If Plate just made you X% <atb>er, then he'd be even more outclassed by a young man if they were both wearing Plate than if they weren't. Of course the argument can be made that Dalinar is just that awesome, but I find that the natural reading doesn't suggest this. -
Well, not Brandon... Source: This. The technology level is meant to be about 1910 New York, but their electrical wires are mostly underground, and technology lags 1910 in certain areas and is ahead in certain areas (especially metallurgy). Let's say that internal combustion engines are at 1910 level, metallurgy is decades ahead, and anything involving electricity is decades behind. Also, I have no idea at all about the current state of medicine.
-
Well sorry if Brandon himself saying that everything's not necessarily canon isn't enough to cast doubt. I'll keep an eye out for the stuff from Crafty. EDIT: If you'd like some examples that highlight this not being gone over with a fine-toothed comb by Peter, a character description features the moon prominently and the supplement thinks they have the telegraph. EDIT 2: Hm. All I can find at the moment is this, which is weaker than I'd recalled. I might have just been thinking of that quote and not remembering it quite right, though. Still: MAG != Reliable for this kind of stuff. Maybe electricity can interact with Feruchemy, maybe it can't. The fact that the possibility is mooted in the MAG does exceptionally little to sway my opinion either way, is the thing.
-
That's the only "from Brandon" in the book, btw. The Crafty guys have also mentioned in other fora that they had less communication with Brandon & Co. this time around, if I recall correctly.
-
So far as I know that's all and only mentioned in the MAG; the AoL supplement in particular is acknowledged as being mostly just Crafty winging it.
-
Is this what you're referring to?
-
Early in WoR Shallan's narrative mentions that there was a scholar who went to the Nightwatcher and recorded the experience, IIRC.
-
Well the Nightwatcher is described as a spren, so unless she's pulling an Oz or doesn't look human anymore...

Re: "thinking to make it so" Ah, my mistake in my reading of you, then. Specifically, I was concerned that you thought frame of reference concerns could be brushed aside by perception. -- In regards to the rest... Well first of all, in my mind at least, the bendalloy bubbles not staying stationary relative to the ship isn't a bug, it's a feature. Otherwise no speed advantage. The trick is doing this while also making the cadmium bubbles stay stationary relative to the ship so that they don't slow down its movement. We do know what happens when bubbles overlap, also: they overlap multiplicatively like Venn diagrams. This and many more fun quotes await you at the bottom of the OP of this thread here.

Stormlight/WoR spoilers, Fly. (in my post too, now) -- That said, I think you may be slightly off track. The fundamentals of how the magics behave isn't the kind of thing that "thinking it should work that way" seems to affect. More so the nuances and implementation aspect. We wouldn't expect that Shallan thinking that her Blade couldn't cut wood (as a random example) would suddenly make it incapable of doing so. We wouldn't expect the mad Lurcher to suddenly be able to Push on metals. And so on. That said, I agree it's possible that perspective might be enough to get away with "anchoring" bubbles on space ships. But then again it's not quite so simple, as time bubbles staying put is "linked up to the spiritual gravitational bond between the planet". That aside, you have the fundamental problem of why a stationary (relative to the ship) speed bubble should cause the ship contained within it to move any faster through space. The ship, so far as the bubble is concerned, is travelling at 0 meters per second. Make it do that for 10 seconds to every 1 on the outside and it's still moved 0 extra meters. Here's the "mechallomancy" quote.
