I think anything from the interlude Brandon read in public is fair game. It's just that the complete interlude from the Steelhunt is much more informative, so people are getting lax.

UPDATE: Just putting up some relevant information for future reference, not really trying to restart the conversation. I forgot to post it when it happened, but Shardlet was kind enough to ask some questions: To quote myself: Several of my FTL-models are hurt by the vacuum thing. Less personally affronted, though, this means that bubbles are almost certainly a straight effect on local space-time, rather than an effect on local objects that happens to be roughly spherical in shape.

The Externals (aka the Timeless Shoving Match)
Kurkistan replied to Dysphoric Kitten's topic in Mistborn
Objects are only ever fully-in or fully-out of bubbles, never "transitioning". So no need to worry about that. This includes people: anyone touching a bubble is affected by it. There have been some discussions on affecting things in different "time zones" in this thread, if you'd care to take a look. -
I'll just quote Argent here: Let's leave it that for now, shall we?

SA Character Portraits by Exmakina!
Kurkistan replied to FeatherWriter's topic in The Coppermind Wiki
I assume that, being a part of the Tumblr fandom, Exmakina is aware of the character descriptions in this post? -
That cat is out of the bag, Scott. I would be very very surprised if he was an Edgedancer, but I'm going to stick with principle here.

Yes, it is rather "obvious", but that isn't good enough. We can't go jumping to conclusions at this early juncture, when we know so little about how all of this works.

SA Character Portraits by Exmakina!
Kurkistan replied to FeatherWriter's topic in The Coppermind Wiki
"And so the Writer of Feathers was Loosed upon the Mind of Copper, and the Wiki was ne'er the same. For it was Transformed, and lo, 'twas Beautiful." -
On Steelhunt: It can get a bit murky. I assure you that we are not spoiling any big parts of it, just the bare existence of a few Surgebinders. My own comment was probably the most spoilt one yet on the matter, and I don't anticipate any worse. The murkiness is compounded by Brandon publicly confirming some info which was surmised from the Lift interlude.

Dalinar was mainly talking about "modern" fabrials, I think, so there's no need for his statement to be taken as a sweeping declaration encompassing fSoulcasters and the like.
-
There's no need for Lightweavers to use that surge for their Soulcasting, Argent. Szeth doesn't use Pressure to do a Basic Lashing, after all.
-
Forgive the mild vulgarity, but hot damnation! Very very well done, karaok. Have another Rep on the house. EDIT: Just to confirm: Everything on the chart right now (besides possibly spelling) is 100% confirmed?
-
Sweet. Can't wait for the details. Any other juicy answers pop to mind before you go about posting the whole mess?

Sorry, I'm still not getting this. I don't even really buy soulstone being "helpful" for Forgery in the sense that you're using. The end result of using soulstone isn't even the "best" one available: TES, Day Three: So, once again, soulstone seems to be merely a useful tool, not "helpful" in any magical sense like Atium is for Hemalurgy.

While I agree that more specific questions generally have lower RAFO-ratings, I think we're fine in this case. We have so little info on the calamity!Earth that I think Brandon would be willing to throw us a bone. And "yes, it is dependent: for instance <describes some power set's origin>" would be a very natural answer for Brandon, versus him quite possibly not wanting to talk about some given power set; like, for instance, Gifters.
-
That probably falls under a more general "how is what power/the amount of power various Epics get determined? Is it somehow dependent on the person?"
-
I find such a suggestion to be unwarranted. Shai's POV is quite clear on the point that Forgery works with any substance, but soulstone is just the best to work with. Any speculation which assumes that our main POV character is wrong needs a pretty strong case to back it up. Also, here's some more info on the rocks from the sky. Source: Brandon's answer here suggests that the "relationship" is ephemeral at best, and certainly not to Devotion.

Well done, sir. Well done.

Okay, I'll give an upvote for that, Argent. I had been mentally composing a bit of a summary if Hawk followed up, but now you've stolen my chance, and I just look like a big meanie.
-
Yes Aztec, that's why we're being all sneaky. Honestly, this is a less "spoilery" question than Shardlet's, because it's not asking how you go about anchoring bubbles or anything like that: just that, given the brute fact of a bubble, how do objects behave within it. If we can't get this answered, then we'll know for sure that all time-bubble questions are out for the foreseeable future. This is nearly the only "basic" question left.
-
The specific question was on a proposed answer to the dilemma: that you just anchor onto nearby objects, and that solves the issue. It was about the movement of the bubble, not objects within it.

Hi! Welcome to the forums. The cosmere is a dense and multilayered beast, so I wish you luck in your efforts to comprehend it.

What's up with frame-of-reference for time bubbles? If you've got to objects stationary relative to one another in space, and you put a bubble around one of them, who's to say what vector it will move "faster" in? ------ So, as background, we have from Brandon that Inquisitors are capable of burning their own eyespikes, but at the expense of excruciating pain and/or weird soul-splicing. Either way, this tells us that Hemalurgic spikes (and potentially any piercing) are available as Allomantic reserves. (Source one, two). Question: If that is the case, then why didn't Vin lose her earring? It was Bronze, as it turns out, and she burned Duralumin and Bronze at the same time at least once, so shouldn't she have burned the earring away too? -I think that she might have had the earring in when she burned Aluminum in the first book, but I can't recall if the Inquisitors might have taken it. So I'll just go with the Duralumin instance. --We also have Marsh the Steel Inquisitor burning Steel and Duralumin and not dying. On that note, why don't spikes seem to show up as reserves, given that they are accessible? Also, do normal piercings follow the same burn rules as spikes, whatever they may be?
