  1. How dare you Harakeke! So...um, what are the real numbers? Not that I will be able to accomplish anything with that information.
  2. So Roshar is round?
  3. I probably would too if I were him. Ok, so the numbers are relevant. They aren't straight longitude, because this map is actually tilted based on the real geography of Roshar. I think. Maybe. I give up. Also, the numbers are different on the top and bottom I think, though I am heavily basing this on the (incorrect) transcription above. Do the lines on the map point to specific numbers?
  4. Peter, do you just sit here and laugh at us to yourself?
  5. Because I apparently have nothing better to do, I made a very crude cut out of the "compass" and made the background transparent so I can lay it over other maps and see what happens. In case anyone was wondering, thus far, nothing, except that they seem to have similar angle measurements for each of the spokes as the "compass roses" on the Frostlands map, but not exact. Otherwise, I have nothing except for fewer hours in the day with which to do my actual job.
  6. I am correlating the "compasses" on the Frostlands map with the one on the large, color map of Roshar, but I probably shouldn't. They seem too similar to me to discount that though. I don't know if they indicate direction, or something else. To be perfectly honest, I have no flipping idea what's going on with these maps, and it's making me feel stupid.
  7. I assume 11. 10 plus urithiru
  8. I thought oath gates at first but aren't there too many of them?
  9. Well, at least I got the Shallow Crypts right! Thank you Harakeke. So, there are multiple compass roses in different sizes strewn throughout, each with lines extending out at (what is assumed to be) the major directional points (N, S, E, W, NE NNE, SE, etc). But what does it mean?
  10. Ahh got it. Someone had asked about it earlier in the thread, I thought. My bad.
  11. Their size changes. There's a really tiny one in the bottom left corner. Looks like that castle on the frost lands map could be the Shallow Crypts ( am not following the glyph thread, so that may have already been discovered)
  12. I just noticed that in the other map, there's a compass in the top right corner, that also has lines coming out of it. Was this discussed before? Perhaps they all go in different places on the map and the lines intersect to form...something? I am apparently blind, because they're all over that Frostlands map, and not necessarily in sensible places either.
  13. That makes sense, but the lack of equality in the angles makes me wonder, too. It just doesn't look "right" to me.
  14. In what manner? Also, is there any relevance to there being 16 rays from the compass? 16 is an important number in the cosmere, and to Scadrial in particular. Apologies if this has been mentioned before, It just strikes me as strange to see 16 as a significant number on a Rosharian document (where 10 clearly rules)
  15. It's next to the cartographer's signature, so I don't know if it is related to Nazh or not...
  16. I found this in a 2009 interview: The Divine Breath can be hid. Essentially, you have to view yourself NOT as a god at all, using a very specific bit of mental gymnastics. As a Returned, your body changes based on how you see yourself. (This, by the way, is an indication that Lightsong was more pleased with himself than he ever let on.) You don't lose your Divine Breath, but it does go into hiding, making you look like a normal person. But you're still Returned, and are consuming a Breath at one a week. If you give away your other Breaths, you retain this hidden one, but your body will still consume its own spirit if left to do so. So you still need a Breath a week to survive, and will die the week you don't get one. So, Vasher has his divine breath somewhere.
  17. Seriously what is this? It's probably nothing.
  18. It's been a long time since I read Warbreaker- where does it say they got rid of their divine breaths? I can barely remember it. It's a miracle I recognized Nightblood.
  19. Well, yeah. Also, it's not clear how nalthis magic manifests on Roshar. Vasher doesn't seem all that out of the ordinary and he's a returned, so maybe the effects of higher heightenings aren't as noticeable on Roshar.
  20. Can't breaths be hidden?
  21. It certainly seems that way. The longitude lines go to zero and then start at 10 again, indicating something further north.
  22. The colored map of Roshar looks like it was taken from a circular or rounded room. Maybe a temple or church? It is what is making the design look warped in places I think. I am still curious what the symbol next to the cartographers signature is. Is it a feruchemical symbol? I don't know those well.
  23. Considering I have a crackpot idea, that all the Heralds are from different Shardworlds, sure, I think it's plausible
  24. That's a good use of work hours There's a couple other names that have been added in the color one. Berizhet, in Liafor. Zawfix, in Azir. But as far as I know these aren't particularly important. </shrug> I was referring to the two black and white maps (one from WoK and one from WoR). The colored one has more details, and the weird compass rose, and a few other oddities. I think it's probably the one to focus on, but I am often wrong.
  25. Pali is called Pailiah in Vorinism. Adolin mentions her before his duel.
