Piece I painted for my landscape painting final. It's Kharbranth!! I'm going to post a thread in the forums with it, because I need some recommendations from the rest of y'all on a good subject for the next location I go after.

Feel free to weigh in with your comments here as well, though!

Can I frame this and hang it on my wall?

I always imagined it more colorful, though, and slightly less... industrial-looking, I guess?

I recall the roofs being different colours based on what the building was used for?

I think that was it, yeah. I need to do a reread...

There's definitely color distinction in the book. And I quote: "Buildings were grouped by color, and that color seemed to indicate purpose. Shops selling the same items would be painted the same shades—violet for clothing, green for foods. Homes had their own pattern, though Shallan couldn’t interpret it. The colors were soft, with a washed-out, subdued tonality.”

I tried to throw some differing hues at the buildings, but tried to do so without sacrificing the overall orangey glow of evening light.

Can totally see where the "less industrial" comment is coming from. I figured that the buildings closest to the harbor would be dedicated more to industry and commerce, and that residential districts would be higher up the slope. But the buildings higher up are farther away, less visible, and mostly in shadow. So the general effect definitely comes across as more industrial, yeah.

This is an absolutely stunning Kharbranth! I have to ask, do you have a tumblr that I could reblog from to put this up on the Adonalsium tumblr? If not, would you be opposed to me posting it for you over there with credit back here? I like to collect Cosmere fanart over on that blog for people to see!

That is seriously amazing! The Sky eels are such a nice touch too.

Would love to see (spoilered because it references OathBringer):

Spoiler

Dalinar's visit to the nightwatcher. His journey through the first is described incredibly well, and a small foreground figure, standing in a dark forset with the Nightwatcher curling around and the luminescent figure of Cultivation in the background would be awesome to see.
