She jogged over to the Café/Restaurant/PlaceWhereYouOrderFood, and waited in line for a few minutes.

I really want a sandwich. And a tall glass of Sprite. Yum. She thought to herself. Her stomach growled slightly. Soon, it was her turn to order. "Hi. I'd like a ham sandwich with extra pickles, and a Sprite." She said sounding bored. 

She ordered her food, and went to sit down.

Ava kept working, being even more careful. She brought a ham sandwich with no pickles (purposeful mistake) and a Sprite to a girl who looked bored.

"Yes, of course, I'll go check!" Ava picked up the plate with the sandwich again and went to go check with the chef.

She was laughing internally, amusedly imagining what could have happened.

"Okay, here you go." Ava set the plate back down and walked back to get a pitcher of Sprite. Coming back, she took the most circuitous route she could, avoiding any table possible. She slowly, carefully, ever so gently filled the girl's cup. "There! Anything else I can get for you?"

She took a bite out of her sandwich. It was good, but would have been better with pickles. Oh well.

Ava kept going, serving customers and cleaning tables. She couldn't stop thinking about that pickle incident. She hadn't been the one to drop all of them, but she'd dropped the last one. Why did everything always happen to her?!

A young man with short curly brown hair and furrowed eyebrows walked in and sat at the next table over. He wore a long brown trench coat and a brown hat.

He smiled as he waited for his turn to order. He did seem a little out of place, but nothing anyone could pinpoint...
