Star sighed, ruffling the hair of the monster like one might do to a dog. Strands of the stuff fell off when she pulled away and she grimaced. "We'll get to killing this lot eventually. I promise. For now... what do I call you?"

It tapped its finger impatiently, glancing around the area. This was ridiculous, they had to get moving, lest someone else stumble upon them.

Besides, what did a name matter when one had their purpose so perfectly defined? How else should it be known than the weapon to end the Narrators?

About the countless monsters undoubtedly surrounding them? The creature made another scoffing sound, but this one sound far more like a laugh. Even then, true emotion was lacking. It offered Star a sideways glance, wondering how she would handle in a fight against her own kind.

5 minutes ago, Zephrun's Imperium said:

"We're safe," Star insisted. She offered it the roll. "Here, eat."

Its nose crinkled. Food was unnecessary for it to achieve its goals. As was standing around, but it seemed to not be given a choice in this matter.

"Okay. Suit yourself." She stuffed the roll into her own mouth. As she chewed, she wondered who they should kill first. Probably Jay or Shadow, but then, both of them would be hard to lure out of their respective realms.

Glancing at the Narrator's head, the creature bounced a handful of ideas over what precisely Star was thinking. It started twitching, obviously anxious.

Must . . . Move . . . Quickly . . .

It had to force the words to form in its mind, its brow furrowing from the effort.

One you . . . Let away . . . Will . . . Be . . . Problem.

The creature was in perfect agreement. But killing a Narrator was a different task, as evident by the failure with killing Star.

They needed to plan. They needed an overwhelming advantage in surprise or something else, or they would die.

"Yes, yes. But I'm less suspicious than you are, Corpse. I'll be able to-"

"Hey, look who it is!"

Star turned around to see Narrator Axe approaching the pair. He walked around shirtless, torso covered with moving tattoos of battle scenes, and was quite handsome, though that was nothing special among their kind. He sat down next to Star, snapping two drinks into existence, evidently choosing to ignore Corpse.

We'll kill him soon, Star immediately thought in annoyance.

"I haven't seen you in ages!" he said, leaning close to her.

"Corpse" hardly moved, watching the newcomer with an eerie stillness. When the pompous Narrator leaned towards the one called Star, its hand flinched, wanting to jab forward for where it knew the Newcomer's core.

However, it held itself back, knowing the value of patience.

Axe was among the only Narrators Star had ever met who was interested in any form of romance. She knew from reading his thoughts that he found her incredibly beautiful, and years ago had made it his goal to seduce her. He'd even shown up at her door when she was with Maverick, and Star had had to shoo him away.

"I heard about your mortal toy killing himself." He said it so flippantly. "I would say that's a shame, but... I'm just glad it brought you back here..." Axe stared at her, infatuated.

And Star fumed.

"Nice, uh, pet you've got there," he said glancing at Corpse.

"Thank you," Star said tightly.

Pet? That should likely anger "Corpse." Perhaps the Narrator was attempting to get a reaction out of it.

Although with a quick glance towards Star, it was obvious that the intended reaction was not going to be from "Corpse." It seemed as if there was tension between the Narrators, especially this "Star." That could prove to be . . . Invaluable.

Best to continue watching on the moment. Let them continue.
