Lost in thought, Marie went up the stairs, fingering the key she'd been given in the pocket of her robe. She turned into the hallway, noted a blue-lined person in between her and her room - and froze, registering more specifics with her steel, her bronze. That particular cadence of the Investiture beating at her. One eye normal, one eye still and blue, the only color that she could really make out anymore, and only that because it was the hue of metal.

She was in a crouch, unthinking, knowing it would do little to try and race a steelmind - his tin and bronze would have noted her anyway - still, in the space of a second she had turned her copper to a flare and had drawn the key from her pocket, sharp tines pointed out and ready for a Push - she was tapping mental speed but he likely would be as well if he anticipated a fight - and she realized that for all she knew he had atium to spare for burning; if that was the case then she wasn't about to attack him in the next few seconds or he'd have countered her already, probably by going through her coppercloud in a duralumin-Riot combo in the heartbeats as she'd come up the stairs - and she lowered her pewter to a dull ember and forced herself to relax her stance. It came to her a fourth of a second too late that she wouldn't've been able to defend herself anyway had he done anything, only evade.

Still skimming lightly from a zincmind, not taking much as this one was almost empty, she kept her movements loose as she approached. Marie wasn't sure whether she wanted to shoot the key at him or use it to take out the window, but she did not let go. "Greetings, Survivor."

He grinned mischievously at her. “Well, I could always ask. Or annoy Saze until he agrees. Or cause enough trouble elsewhere that I can sneak you past his range while he’s distracted. Admittedly the last would be the most fun and the first the easiest.” He shrugged. “Saze doesn’t actually like controlling you.”

Eryn quickly stood up, settling herself beside the child. She began to him, stroking Zola’s brow.

In the hall Kelsier frowned, glancing over at the room. Gently, he reached out soothing Zola’s fear.

That was what Harmony always told her, and, well, okay, it was hard to deny that he was telling the truth...but. "He also doesn't like delightful murder sprees. I find it hard to believe that he will agree, knowing what you plan to do with me."

Zola curled her knees to her chest, hugging them for a little bit before throwing them back again. She muttered for a moment before awaking with a cry.

”Are late,” Eryn noted.

He shrugged. “I ran into Marie. She wanted to talk, so I figured I’d oblige. Not too many people left from the Final Empire these days.”
