Who was this Sovereign character, exactly? There weren't many people in the underground Twice didn't know. But if it was some underworld character who wanted spikes, Twice wanted to know exactly who it was.

Just ask. Eryn will tell you.

Eryn shook her head. “If want. Soon we need leave; get spikes to Sovereign and find place to sleep.”

"So either now or we'll come back later? I'll do it later, then."

Is it ok if Meens somehow traps the in you're staying in?

I mean it's fine by me.

You’re free to, but that’s where Kelsier is hanging out right now. (He’s waiting to get Drae alone, in case you’re wondering.) What he’ll do is heavily dependent on what happens as a result.

Burning inns seems something very dumb to do for someone trying to rule the underword

And is the kind of thing Kelsier would intervene in. There are kids in the inn. And members of his crew. And people he feels he probably has some responsibility toward maybe. I mean, they do worship him, right?

I don’t think that trap will work well. Unless by ‘work well’ you mean the would be arsonists end up with a mysterious case of death.

I was referring to the arsonists. Who would die immediately after revealing everything they know. Offscreen.

And Eryn will be telling him about Meens. Kell won’t go after Meens though. He’ll send Eryn. He’s only sticking around to talk with Drae. (He was supposed to have left by now, but then Eryn started recruiting people... mutters about characters who don’t do what they’re supposed to do...)

The arsonist is not going to survive to do the job is the point. Kelsier is at/around the inn waiting for a chance to talk to Drae. Someone tries to burn the inn down he’ll interfere. A more targeted attack and he won’t.

Meens would... take care of the arsonist after they do their job.

Someone with that kind of methods would never stay alive long enough to become king of the underworld

And Kelsier is already there, there's no after the job for the arsonist ^^

Unless, of course, they're capable enough that they do. They can do close to anything if they have the influence. What I'm saying is, there's really no way of knowing that.

True. But it isn’t going to work while Kelsier is near the town which will be the case until he talks to Drae. At which point he’ll leave... finally. (He was supposed to leave a long time ago...)

He isn't actually king of the underworld, that was Raven raving. He is the worst combination of character traits, he's a genius, a political mastermind, and sociopath, he can quite literally do anything. I had considered not letting people other than you in the inn, but Meens wouldn't do that, he wouldn't see any reason to.

But you're not born with influence, you have to obtain it, and if while doing so you'll learn better methods than killing your own men

Maybe ping Drae?

They won’t talk until we get back to town. The plan now is to talk after everyone has settled down for the evening so Kell can talk to Drae and Eryn (separately). Zola too, once he’s aware of her (which he’s currently not.) Also anyone else Eryn may or may not end up recruiting.

The theoretical arsonist isn't 'his' man, just an arsonist Meens might get to burn the building.

Doesn't change a thing, if Meens is know to kill people after they do what he asked of them they won't work for him. And anyway there would not be an 'after' for them so it don't really matter

Decent point. But I don't think he's sending an arsonist, so this whole discussion of underworld politics and stuff should probably be over.

He was born decently influential and built from there. He isn't known to kill people, generally he suicides them. Most people wouldn't be aware that he was even behind the arsonist.

He will be, but the arsonist won't be connected to him, he would mostly just offer money, but we should stop.
