"Sir Nathaniel and my Grace. And you really don't need me, Cara. The Shadow can take care of it."

So, an idiot with some soldiers and a killing Grace. The first, Gal hated to admit, was a very real threat. Idiots with power are the worst. The latter, though... "Is there any reason for us to believe you'd use your abilities against us? You didn't try that yet even once."

Edit: Connie, Valzwyn knows the tower well. You don't know what traps could theoretically be there - though there probably aren't. Of there were, I should've discussed that with Fadran.

Ok, I'm back

"Sorry. But the risks outweigh the possible benefits."

"Well, Sir Nathaniel shouldn't be a problem. I mean if The Shadow can easily kill a dragon, then he can tackle him. Also, I don't know what a grace is or whatever, but it doesn't sound very dangerous. So...I don't really see how the "risks" outweigh the benefits."

"I didn't expect you to understand." Minuet went even faster.

"Mi-ni!" Val said, crossing her arms. "You're being selfish."

"No, I'm being unselfish and you just can't see it."

"Am I... your friend?"

"Um... yes." Val dropped her eyebrows into a half-scowl, half-skeptical glare. "You mean you didn't think you were mine?"

"I shouldn't be your friend."

"So that's why you think you're being all selfless or whatever? You're trying to spare me some terrible fate or something?" Valzwyn grabbed her wrist. "Friendships are messy; I can take it."

Minuet turned to Val. "You have no idea how messy it could get. I really should go." She glanced back at the stairs.

"How messy?" She asked. "Tell me how messy. Explain yourself. You can't just run away and say it's for our own good without telling us why!"

"If you leave, then you stop being my friend anways!" Val gripped Minuet's arm harder. "At least give us a chance, Min. Please."

"Didn't I already do that? You told me you'd need me to kill the dragon. That's obviously not true."

"So what if you didn't help kill the dragon? was hiding under a table the entire time and trying not to cry!"

"But they-you won't need any help. The Shadow killed that dragon just fine. All I am is dead weight."

"Well... so am I, really." Val gestured with her head back up the stairs. "Can't we just stay here together? We don't have to go find and kill a dragon to still be a part of the group."

Exodus stepped up by the elf and held a gaze with Minuet, hoping she would remember his offer.
