Ara reached down, gathering up her tools and materials with practiced hands. She had spent the night working on some things for Exodus and Minuet. Some little things to maybe help them open up some more. They both seemed so lonely. Ara knew what it was like to be afraid to reach out, so she knew she had to help them.

All packed up, Ara grabbed her bag, slipped on a shirt and some trousers she had bought in town (she was still getting used to those, but they were infinitely better than dresses), and pulled the door open with a flourish. “Good morning, Ex! Feeling any better today?”

"Good morning, Ara," Minuet said from behind Exodus.

He smiled again, a tad wistful. Ara had such cheerfulness, it was nearly contagious! It reminded him of someone, someone who had died many years ago. Quite a shame, really, how quickly people died. "Morning, Ara! I'm feeling about as great as I can, considering the coming end of existence. The cheeses here are a bit lacking in variety, to be sure, but I'm sure it'll make up for it. We've got a shortcut to take soon."

“Good morning! You were awesome yesterday, fighting off those people.” Ara was just glad, this time, no one had died, and she had managed to avoid collapsing into a pile of self-pity.

Cara jumped out of bed. How could she have forgotten about the world ending? She sighed at her brain’s limited capacity in the morning, and left her room. 
 

“What is for breakfast?” Cara asked curiously. 
 

Um…the world is ending and you’re asking about breakfast? Cirsei asked, baffled. 
 

What? You can’t save the world on an empty stomach. Besides, he mentioned breakfast first. He obviously already carved time away to eat, so we might as well eat before going.

Orpheus sighed. "At least summon a ghosty servant or something? I've spent my life in a cottage in a small town, this tower is a maze compared to that."

"Why not?" he asked, a feeling of frustration rising within him.

"You go ask Cara why."

His gaze soften and his frustration dissipated as he remembered the terrible death from the night before. He'd hardly known the kid was with them.

“That’s an overstatement. I helped, but not singlehandedly…” Ara’s gaze hardened for a moment, looking at no point in particular. “I do want to learn to do more, though, justify my presence here.” I won’t just be a burden.
