he, feel you man, doing mostly the same.

If you want I have found a way to get Google Sheets to auto generate new word goals for you.

Is it just a formula or something? Please share.

Yeah, pretty much

=Round(AVERAGE(cells containing all previous days word count)*(Increase)

Lets say your previous days word counts are all in column B, would the "cells containing all previous word count" be just B2:B, so that you include the entire column?

And this formula is slowly increasing your word count goal to ease you into writing more?

That's the idea.

Adjust the increase to an amount your comfortable with.

Between last night and today I wrote 2001 words for a total of 7198 in 4 days. I missed yesterday and likely will not finish in time. I'm on the fence if I should quit now as the goal may just be too far out of reach. This is my first time participating and I feel defeated. 5 days in and I feel like I'm fighting a losing battle. I won't be done by the end of the month and that was the whole point of this venture was to see if I could well likely I can't. Is it even worth going further?

I'm a little surprised to find myself trying to encourage people, since I'm even further behind and usually pessimistic, but I think you should keep going.

Look, the destination is very important, but so's the journey. So perhaps you won't be able to reach 50,000 words in a month. But I think you can start a habit of writing every day. And that way, even if it won't be at November the 30th, one day you will have written a novel. That's at least what I tell myself when I see that I never wrote more than 400 words in a day. Even though I kind of think I might be incapable of keeping forward. So, I don't know if it's going to help you, but I hope it will.

Shabbat Shalom! And good luck in writing! And remember: Journey before Destination!

I'd say keep going

That is how I felt last year, and I did end up quitting a little over halfway through. NaNoWriMo just wasn't a high enough priority, and it mentally exhausted me. However, what I probably should have done is revised my goal to one that I could accomplish. That is what I did this year. I set a ridiculously easy goal of 100 words per day, and am probably hitting more like 300-400, but it feels better to accomplish an easy goal and form a habit, than to try something too hard and quit. Last year when I quit it felt like a burden off my shoulders. I love writing, but that commitment was a bit much, and not important enough to me.

I'd recommend revising your goal to something more manageable, and maybe next year trying a little more. Steady increases in goal amounts until you can do 50k in 30 days. It's up to you. But, if you like mentally toughening yourself up through self-inflicted psychological torture I say keep going. (I'm not being sarcastic. I run cross country and often push the limits of my willpower. There's something to overcoming a seemingly insurmountable challenge.)

Is it possible for someone to learn this power?

@Nathrangking, the best advice I can give is to not take it so seriously. Nobody's going to shame you for not getting it done; and especially not your fellow authors

I thank you my friend. I ended up not quitting. If I don't finish by the end of the month I'll be that much closer to actually completing it.
